Ultra Hardcore (UHC) #1

When: Saturday, July 19th. Event server opens at 12:30pm EDT. Match starts at 1:00pm EDT.
How Long: 4 hours max, ends at 5:00pm EDT or earlier if someone wins before then.
Who can play: This event is open to all
What: This UHC event will be a free for all, last man standing.

The game will be mostly vanilla (no SafeBuckets, fire spread on, mob griefing on, you can create portals etc), with the end disabled and a shrinking world border. The map is 2000x2000 to start off, with the border periodically shrinking to a final size of 200x200 Players who get close to the border will suffer blindness and slowness effects until they move away. Players who cross the border are teleported back. If you are outside the new border you will be moved inside, sometimes violently, resulting in damage taken.

Health will not regenerate naturally, you must either craft a golden apple or create a regeneration or instant health potion. Golden apples and glistering melons recipes are tweaked requiring ingots instead of nuggets.

Your in game achievements will also be broadcast as you achieve them, thus giving everyone an indication of how far along you are!

When the event server opens up, you will have 30 minutes to "/join" the match. Once the start time comes around, anyone not registered will be set to "Spectator Mode". Spectators will be completely invisible to the participants.

This sounds really fun. I'll be looking forward for this. On a side note though:

Prize: A shrine in the survival rev 26 spawn!

Will there be roads/a spawn point next survival revision? I know I should probably wait for an official post, but I was wondering what kind of spawn we would be looking into to next revision.

Thanks!

Thank you very much President Snow, we are grateful. And to the contestants, the odds are ever in your favour.

Are UHCs ever streamed live? Big (empty) screens and Capitol skins in a town on P/C could be fun, mumble if everyone has headphones.

Roleplay is against the rules and this sounds like a really cool event, please don't do this.

I've got a few questions, as we get closer to the start of the event, so that we can work out our "strategy."

  1. Will the server be daytime when the event starts?
  2. You say that you can create portals.  What is the worldborder in the nether, and does it contract?  Is the nether 1:8?
  3. Will the map be generated with structure-generation on?  (i.e. will there be abandoned mineshafts, villages, etc?)
  4. Is it possible to spoof the x,y,z coordinates of the observers, so they can't call out positions?
  5. Will the worldborder contract smoothly, or in jumps (like, a 40 block contraction every 10 minutes)?  If there is a sudden contraction, will there be warnings?
  6. Will the "final area" of the map be centered on (0,0)?
  7. Will books require leather?
  8. Is animal breeding still buffed?
  9. Will there be server restarts?
  10. Did you come to a decision about how to handle people logging off?  Is combat logging against the rules, or is it "chaos" rules?
  11. Will there be enchantism?
  12. Are there any rules about alts?
  13. Will strength potions be nerfed, as they are on Survival?

Thank you for your time, we're quite looking forward to this event.

Hey, I had a quick question regarding people spectating this event. Will they have the ability to /tp to participants? If so, how will this work? Will spectators have coordinates spoofed to prevent cheating (cheating where spectators tell players in the event where an enemy is, etc)? If spectators don't have access to /tp, will they be allowed access to something like /compass?

Thank you in advance. I am really looking forward for this event, it looks like a lot of fun.

  1. It will be daytime the entire event.
  2. The nether is 1:8, so it'll start at 2000/8 out and keep the ratio as it contracts
  3. Yes
  4. Participants will not be able to hear spectators in game at least. Providing coordinates via any other means is also against the rules. If you know of someone cheating, tell them to stop or report them as that will ruin the game and reduce the chances of us having more uhc events. There is only so much that can be controlled via plugins, players must agree to a "gentleman's agreement" to play by the spirit of the game.
  5. Jumps, there are warnings beforehand @ 45, 30, 15, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 seconds
  6. Yes
  7. Recipes are vanilla
  8. No
  9. No
  10. Combat Tag will be active, there will also be a per player timer that starts out at 15 minutes that tracks your logged out time. Each hour it's automatically reduced by 5 minutes. So at the start your timer is 15 min, 1 hour in it goes to 10 min, 2 hours in it goes to 5 min and for the final hour you have no more offline time available. Once your time expires, it will reduce your health by 1 hearts every minute.
  11. No
  12. You may only join as 1 person, and may not spectate as an alt until you are killed.
  13. No
