Hello everyone,

After many weeks of discussion, we have come up with a list of possible mods. Everyone on this list has been contacted and asked if they would like to be included in this vote. A few things to keep mind before you vote:

  • "Yes" means "I am supporting this person, and want to see this person as a moderator."
  • "No" means ""I don't think this person should be a moderator."
  • "Don't know well enough" means "I don't know this person well enough to make a decision."
  • The results are public, so anyone will be able to see who you voted for.

As always, if anyone has any concerns about anyone on this list please contact (Mrloud15, thrawn21, Dumbo52, Draykhar, Cyotie911).

Voting will end in 1 week, August 22nd, and new mods will be announced no later than 1 week, August 29th, after voting has ended.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say:

Who the hell is 3c33?

That would be me. And for those who've asked me directly or have questioned it in game on C, have been informed who I actually am. For everyone else,  I'm more commonly known as KD8 and I asked that my alt be nominated for personal reasons.  I had planned to switch to this account at the beggining of the next C rev but was before asked if I would be accept my mod nomination. I apologize for any confusion related to this choice.

And I don't think its right. People will be confused when someone seemingly unknown is suddenly modded. You were nominated as KD8 and I think you should be voted on that account too. It's bad enough when we have already established mods who change their name.

I agree with this. Why do you need to switch your account anyways? I see almost no point in buying another account and then stop using the original one. That would be like me buying the last of us, then turning up the quality and FPS and buying it again for $60, only to never play the original again!

.Thats fair and I do understand both of your reasonings.  When the head admins asked me if I was okay with a nomination, they accepted when I asked to use this account and the reasons why I don't wish to use KD8. The mods were also notifed by Dumbo52 before the official vote thread was opened.

What's the point of this?

It should be very obvious if you read this and the related posts:

I would be in favor of a moderator and player vote (two seperate threads, two seperate outcomes). If a moderator is voted 'yes' by the staff, but 'no' by the players, there might be another issue at play.

We're doing a player and staff vote, to see what the differences are and what discussion might come forward.

(zifnab06, take note I'm replying to CROCK here, just used you as a reference.)

What's the point of this?

Because the server philosophy has always been that moderators only exist out of necessity, and that all players are equal, with no "trusted players" or ranks of any sort.  Therefore, the community's opinion is just as valid as that of the people that happen to have permissions to the "Mod Chat" subforum.

To raise discussion about the nominees, if necessary, so that any issues can be brought to light BEFORE they become a mod.

To show broadly that the nominees have the support of the community.

To show that user-voting can work (of admin-provided nominees, obviously, so that no one votes in Storm_Surge).

To show that an open-ballot can lead to more thoughtful, respectful voting.

Because universal suffrage is a human right. (Article 21 of the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights) :P

People are allowed to play on whatever account they choose, he will have his reasons behind swapping and we should respect that.

That's not the problem. It's that an unknown account will be getting moderator permissions without anyone knowing who they are.

If they wish to, they can tell people who they are otherwise they can be treated like a player that nobody knows. That would include a lot of the I don't know this player votes.

Well, if they don't get through the voting stage then it's fine as we won't be having an unknown player getting staff. If they do get through the vote (I'm assuming they will) then we have an issue because the players don't know who this person is. The only reason I voted no on that player is because nobody knows who they are. This is a case where I felt that the "Don't know well enough" option wouldn't fit right, since that is for me personally not knowing if they're ready for staff, nobody knows this player and unless they are happy to have everyone know who they are then it will be staying as a no vote for now.

He said who he was. But if nobody actually does know a player they won't get through voting usually. If he did and nobody knew who he was for a while it'd either become clear who he was later or people would get to know the guy with his new name, I mean there are people that get modded that you don't know and you often just get to know them. I see how people would find it problematic if nobody knew a guy but usually people trust that if someone made it through the brainstorming phase they are generally regular players and mod material.

Must have been one hell of a reason. I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to switch accounts permanently, but I guess if the head admins are ok with it then I am too

No offense to the people nominated, but i dont see what traits any of these people have other then being on for long periods of time....

The soon-to-be new Creative mods have been actively helping out a fair bit with Creative, whilst they don't pop on the forums all too often their actions in-game and in Mumble are sufficient reason to see them as capable.

The PvE staff listed on there I've known to be helpful, especially tactical_spork who (in my opinion) took far too long to be nominated.

As for rtr, he's been around here for a long time and frankly he has a pretty damn good idea of what Survival needs.

The others I haven't met yet.
