  1. If we do go 8k by 8k, would it be possible to have more than 8 portals? 12 or even 16 would encourage builds to be more evenly spread out across the map and give a chance to smaller cities which would otherwise be without portals.

  2. I second Team Fortress 2. F2P, works for PC Mac and Linux, low system requirements, and to be frank far less potential for drama than Trouble in Terrorist Town, which is probably going to be another leading candidate. I'd personally like fast (5-10 second) spawns with a few popular maps in rotation such as dustbowl, hightower, harvest, badwater, nucleus, and of course, for Socarch26, turbine. I must disagree with Toby in that instead of having set 24 hour blocks of maps it'd be better if people could just vote on the maps they'd prefer.

  3. donor perks isn't one of the topics, unless you consider a badge on the forums or tag in-game a perk. I'm not really sure how the question of allowing badges on the forums or in-game depends on the financial state of the server to any strong degree. I can see the logic in grouping the subjects together since they both deal with money. They also fit with the third topic of badges or flair for competition/event winners. I see no strong reason to rearrange the agendas when we have a workable one now.

Yeah, depending on how badly the server needs donations I'll be more or less in favor of having non-gameplay perks, donator badges and such. If we're floating alone fine then I don't see why we need to have any perks, badges, or anything else at all for donators, but if we're cutting it close to the margins ever donation drive then I'd be in favor of whatever that can make people donate more to the servers as long as it doesn't give players an in-game edge.

  4. Back to the topic at hand, I feel like donation perks would be best discussed in the second meeting, as for many the answers for those questions would depend a lot on the financial state of the server which we as of yet know very little about until perhaps after the meeting. Also, can we talk about adding a "other games" section to the forum, perhaps with subforums for the most popular ones? After all, we already have a gaming section in the mumble server.

  5. I don't think there's anything in the rules against a second end grinder, but can't it be argued making it a PvP area restricts access to said grinder, or at least makes it extremely inhospitable to most people, thereby (sort of) breaking the rules? After all, most people would be scared of having an experienced PvP'er logging in right in front of them and taking all their valuables they were about to enchant, which I guess is the purpose of why they made the grinder PvP enabled in the first place.

Also, I agree we need to have some sort of policy to deal with this. I've used the original end grinder a lot this rev and there were already tensions due to the fact some of the people who created the second end grinder would just cut in line (I'd get a lot of messages and even a modreq or two asking if I can do anything about it), now that they have a second end grinder I can't imagine things getting any better.

  6. Well it appears a few people do play League. For those who don't know, League of Legends is a free to play PC/Mac (sorry linux) game where 5 players try to destroy the other 5 players' home base while killing each other. Sort of. So how about this, I'll be on next Thursday after 7:00 PST on mumble. Anybody wanting to form a team or just try the game feel free to join.

  7. In no particular order, Fallout series (1, 2, 3, NV), Elder Scrolls series (3, 4, 5), and Mass Effect (1, 2, and 70% of 3).

I'd totally add Fire Emblem, except I've only played 7 and Sacred Stones, and I can't really say Starcraft, Total War, or Diablo as I'm not as fond of their latest installments.

  8. I just want to say, to the people who just say "who cares, let's just play the game!" yes, this does not really affect most C or P player at all; if anything they see some of their beloved community members being pilloried and it's natural to come to their defence. But S has been in a bad sort for a long time, and when you see not only Tharine leave but a massive number of staple S players follow suit, I do think this matter need to be talked about so that whatever caused the mass exodus doesn't happen again.

That being said, I also do believe people need to be more courteous to each other when discussing this matter. Many of us have spent several thousands of hours on nerd.nu and when people have invested so much time and effort into something things can get really heated, but that really isn't an excuse to call each other names and point fingers. That'd just end up with a lot of bitterness on both sides and nothing being done, which is what's happening in the subreddit and why I think it's good that it's been x-posted to the forums (thanks Zuziza!).

  9. CTF is this Saturday, so how about a Steam gaming event the Saturday after, the 28th? Some time maybe at 2:00PM West coast/5:00PM East Coast/10:00PM England. Or later if there are more Aussies than Brits who are interested. As TF2 sounds like the most popular game here, perhaps we can go invade an empty TF2 server if there's enough people, or just join a half-full one.
