  1. Creative Suggestions: I'd like to try something new with suggestions for creative since suggestions in the forums get unwieldy and its not really clear how many people want a thing to be done. I have created https://nerd-creative.uservoice.com which is an online customer feedback / suggestion tool where anyone can post a suggestion, vote for others suggestions, and admins can respond. The most voted for things rise to the top. It prioritizes what features I should bug the tech admins for. Its easy and fun! Go try it out. Creative Changelog: It was suggested at the general meeting that we keep a change log for servers. I'm going to do that in this thread. EDIT: I appreciate any comments people leave in this thread, but in the interests of keeping it readable I'm going to remove any comments between updates. This is just to keep the list organized and readable- You can feel free to throw out a "WHOOO!" or "Thanks!" here if you want, but it will be removed with the next update post. if you have a specific request you can use the link above, or if there is a concern or post that you want to have permanence you can always put it in the bugs forum or ask in general server discussion!
  2. The Cadmin team has decided to loosen the restrictions on banned WorldEdit blocks.. The updated list can be viewed here. To summarize the new policy: All blocks that are globally banned or restricted to staff placement are banned in WE, excluding flowing water and lava TNT and Beds can be placed by hand but not with WE All other blocks can be placed with WE List of blocks that were previously banned in WE but are now usable: **(#6) – Saplings**(#10) – Flowing Lava**(#11) – Sill Lava **(#27) – Powered rail**(#28) – Detector Rail**(#29) – Sticky Piston**(#31) – Dead Shrub/Grass/Fern**(#32) – Dead bush**(#33) – Piston**(#34) – Piston Head**(#36) – Piston Extension**(#37) – Dandelion**(#38) – Flowers**(#39) – Brown Mushroom**(#40) – Red Mushroom**(#50) – Torch**(#51) – Fire**(#59) – Wheat Crops**(#69) – Lever**(#75) – Redstone Torch (off)**(#76) – Redstone Torch (on)**(#77) – Stone Button**(#81) – Cactus**(#83) – Sugar Canes**(#212) – Frosted Ice**(#328) – Minecart**(#342) – Minecart w/ Chest**(#343) – Minecart w/ Furnace**(#408) – Minecart w/ Hopper These changes are live. We hope these changes allow everyone to build easier. If you have any questions feel free to contact any Cadmin or file a modreq. Thanks! -The Cadmin Team
  3. Hello! It's time for voting on the Speedbuild Arena Contest. Thank you very much to the people who participated. Voting will run from now through Friday night. While I am providing pictures, I highly encourage you to go visit the builds in person on C at /warp sbacontest before voting. 2D pictures often don't do a 3D build justice. The winner will be put into the map and used for all our Speedbuild Contests for the rest of the revision. Floating Islands Bee Hive Birthday Cake Good luck to the contestants, and happy voting! -The Cadmin Team
  4. We have begun planning for for Rev 32 and would like your feedback. In addition to the poll above, please answer the following questions: Are there any biomes that there should be more or less (or none) of? What did you like about the current map? What did you dislike about the current map? Are there any rules we should add/change/remove for next rev? If you have any comments about any of the poll questions feel free to include those in your post. General thoughts and comments on how we can improve the server are also welcome. We anticipate Rev 32 to start some in January, and as always we will announce the specific date 1 month in advance. Thanks for your time and input! - The Creative Admin Team
  5. Armor stands by default can be shoved around with pistons and such so that they are not centered, but sometimes you want them to be in a VERY specific spot and it just doesn't work. Please consider adding an additional command to StandMaster9000 that allows for fine-tuned placement of stands. The most straightforward way from a user-interface standpoint is, I think, to allow an offset argument, measured in meters (e.g. /stand offset 0.25 0.10 1.2) to a maximum of 2 meters offset. I was going to open an issue on the github as a feature request, but for whatever reason opening issues is not enabled on the standmaster github page for the public. https://github.com/NerdNu/StandMaster9000 (If there's already a way to fine-tune placement of armor stands, I'd love to hear about it. The best i could come up with was using pistons and fence gates/carpets and it's not really ideal)
  6. There should be some kind of teleport command that takes you to a different speedbuild plot depending on what number you specify, AND/OR a command that lets you teleport to the third, second, and first place winners of the current speedbuild round. It's a pain flying around rushing to find the winners before they get rolled back.
  7. The Creative Culture Guide states: "Regions should be a distance of no less than 10 blocks from another player’s build or region boundary." Is the above a soft or hard rule? I'm honestly not sure how the latter could be true based on the fact that a player could build statues right on the border of another player's build and then ask for them to be protected. It would be unreasonable to ask them to move them at that time. If this is a hard rule, I'd appreciate some extra guidance in the guide on what we would do in that type of situation.
  8. Howdy folks, I am happy to announce a short building contest for PvE’s next Revision! I am in need of cool nether builds to include in the custom nether map generation. The contest will run for 2 weeks starting today, September 8th, and ending September 22nd at midnight (2 weeks). To join the contest and start building, head over to Creative and go to /warp NetherContest. We are using NerdPlot for plot management. To claim a plot, find an unused plot and type /nerdplot claim and it will be protected to you. If you want to add more people to your plot, just do /rg i to get the region name and then do /rg addmember nether_contest_### <username> to have them added. Plots are 50x50, however do not feel the need to use all of that space as we just wanted to give extra room in case you needed it. We are looking for small builds and big builds, details below: Small Builds (1x1 - 20x20) The smaller the build the better. Smaller builds will have a much higher chance of appearing in the world. Some examples of a small build: Small house with loot chests, small dungeon with a mob spawner, glowstone trees Small note: We are looking for glowstone and mushroom tree variety! If you build a custom glowstone/mushroom tree your build will most likely be included. Big Builds (20x20 - 50x50) We are also looking for some cool big builds as well, whether that be mob spawner temples or large custom nether fortresses or even something else. Note that big builds will have a lower chance of spawning in the map because they are bigger. Some examples of a big build: Custom nether fortress, large dungeon with multiple mob spawners, large house with loot chests Winners There will be a Top 5 builds that we be decided by the padmins. We will judge the build on quality and how well it will blend in with the custom nether. Those top 5 will be guaranteed to be generated into the map. We will also pick out a variety of other builds we like to include in generation, but only the top 5 will be announced. This is a short contest and is only running for 2 weeks so don’t put off building! I look forward to seeing what everyone can come up with! Subreddit Post
  9. Hardly anybody uses this subforum. Lots of ideas for improvements get discussed in global chat over the course of a revision. How many of those ideas actually get to the desk of the people who could make them happen? People are lazy. Who wants to go through the trouble of logging into a website and make a post for something that should already be on the server? Not a large fraction of people - and that's ok. So give these creative/brilliant/lazy gamers an easy way to give you, the admins, feedback in-game. Example: "/suggest please allow players to modreq fire spread in owned regions" this gets piped into a database, some script posts it to this suggestions forum, maybe the forum specific to the server the command was run in. The post can contain the username of the person suggesting it, a timestamp, etc. and the user gets a link to it. If they want to elaborate or clarify, they can post a response. Extra fancy but not required: give the user the option to receive notifications in-game if they get a response on the forums. Abuse of the command would be treated like we handle any other abuse of nerd services.
  10. If the staff were to either make creative a modified Minecraft server, or make another server that is modified with a creative game play style, what would you like to see? You can either list game mods, or just ideas for mods. Be specific, what would make the game better?
  11. Some options: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/chairsreloaded/ (I've used this one in the past. Does what it says on the tin. Also it's open source and GPL'd!) http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/chairstairs/ (haven't used this one. also open source. Looks like it could work) http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/chairs/ (haven't used this one. open source. Hasn't updated in a while, but comments say it works in 1.9 still)
  12. GO HERE TO SEE THE ENTRIES: http://imgur.com/a/IlJLZ Well it's finally over, and time to vote on which post office you'd like to see near spawn soon! Please choose your top favorite 3! Voting will end Thursday night 9pm ET. What would you like to build next? Comment below sharing and discussing ideas for future contests!
  13. Minor bug report: When on Creative I use /pet wear, for other players it appears to work but for my client the pet appears to stand where it was when i ran the command, and does not appear on my player character's head in third person view. I can hear the pet if I leave the area - though i cannot see it. I cannot use any /home or teleport commands (or compass) with a pet on my head (they act like they are working, but I don't get teleported), but that's not a big deal. Just wanted to report the command isn't working as expected - I'd post an issue to the github, but it might be an interaction with something else C is running. Not a huge issue anyway. Steps to reproduce: log on to c.nerd.nu with a 1.10.2 client (I have optifine installed though I don't know that that makes a difference) run "/pet spawn chicken" or some other type of pet run "/pet list" to find the ID for your pet (in my case it was #3) run "/pet wear 3" or whatever ID number your pet was. observe the pet remain in the location it was when you ran /pet wear. My chicken was flapping its wings continuously. press f5 to enter third-person view - your pet is not visible on your player character's head. have another player observe your player character - they will report your pet is on your head. leave the area and listen - you will occasionally hear the pet, though it is still not visible on your head in f5
  14. This has been a recent annoyance of mine, especially since the introduction of worldedit. Region sizes seem to stretch what used to be unimaginable, even with little or no development. It's not outrageous any more to find a 1000x500 block claims, or 700x700 block regions with development only in a 200x200 area or smaller. I understand that worldedit allows much faster creation, but when a land area is empty and you want to build in it, it's stupefying to find out that it's at the corner of a 1000x1000 claim. Is there any policy on a certain hard limit to how big a region claim can be? I understand that there is a 1-month-no-build-no-more-region policy, but is that really enough?
  15. Hey you! Looking for a challenge? Then come on down to the AP3 Challenge House! With 5 levels, Maze, Parkour, Water run, a secret level and the cobweb level, there is still the 3rd completion spot open and lots more prizes to be won! Come on down so they could be yours! The APthree Challenge House 2 is coming soon with a more logical approach; lever codes, roomscape, and so on! So look forward to that! Coords: x -1938, y 69, z -2958 Just complete it with proof or tell me (APthree) To watch you doing it! See you there! -APthree
  16. Hello all. We're bringing you an fun and quick contest to participate in this week! [ Or send you that novel-length /mail message in a book instead of blowing up your inbox ] Have fun nerds! All welcome. EDIT: Due to high demand to extend the length of the contest, i've decided to go ahead and do so. You'll have until Saturday the 27th at 9PM EST to finish your builds.
  17. Hey. So my PVP maps have definitely been popular in the past, and I've been creating some new ones. My current one, Garage, is taking a questionable amount of time for a warp req. Since I definitely plan to create more in the future, are there any plans of an equivalent of /warp PVP for the new rev? I know it was omitted probably due to its low popularity but I don't want my PvP maps possibly cluttering up the warp menu again. o/ edit: minor text fixes -niantic
  18. So I had this really cool idea for a plugin or something - you can set up a region that's "invisible". Nobody can see what's in the region - it just looks empty or maybe there's a cloud around it or something (except in modmode) I was thinking about 3 or 4 blocks into the region, the "fog" dissipates/everything starts to "fade" into vision I have no idea if this is even possible to do in minecraft, but it's an idea!

  21. Please fill out the survey so that the nerd.nu staff know what the community would enjoy playing. For those of you new to the idea of modded minecraft, you can try out various mods from the minecraft forums, or try the super easy to use modpack launchers by the Feed The Beast team, the Technic team, ATLauncher, or Curse (the company that hosts the minecraft forums and wiki). The popular/featured modpacks are usually pretty well balanced and work without many issues. http://feed-the-beast.com/ http://www.technicpack.net/ https://www.atlauncher.com/ https://www.curse.com/games/minecraft (if you go with the Feed The Beast [FTB] launcher, a very good introductory modpack is the Direwolf20 pack) If you want to tinker with mods on your own (it can be a little bit tricky if you are new to it) I highly recommend using the open source MultiMC Launcher. It makes everything very very easy to keep contained so that if you make a mistake you can easily undo it or work in a separate instance. If you tinkered with minecraft mods in ages past, know that it is much simpler and less challenging than it used to be - Forge is basically the main thing that allows mods to be easily dropped in and out of a minecraft instance, and there are no more data value conflicts when multiple mods are installed. http://multimc.org/ http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods http://minecraft.curseforge.com/mc-mods (NB: this poll and post were made by me, Mumberthrax. I am not a nerd.nu staff member. Voting in this poll does not necessarily guarantee any particular action on the part of nerd.nu staff/administration) Thanks for taking this survey! Feel free to share your comments below! Edit2: to allay concerns about security issues, the FTB launcher, Technic launcher, and ATlauncher are all three open source with code hosted on github. AFAIK your password/credentials never go anywhere except to mojang's login servers when using these launchers. The curse voice launcher doesn't even let you input your mc password iirc. Edit: To be clear, nerd.nu uses server plugins that are sometimes called mods, but client mods are what we're talking about here. Here's a video series as an example of what the direwolf20 modpack is like:
  22. I can't join any server on nerd.nu. It says logging in than it says Dissconected. Does anyone have the same problem or know how to fix it.(nerd.nu told me I'm not banned)
  23. Since we have updated to 1.9.0 we are experiencing some difficulties with moderators losing World Edit capabilities after leaving /modmode Rather than making you suffer with this problem we have temporarily made it so your World Edit will work ANYWHERE, so please be careful and mindful of where you are and if your selection is extending your own borders. Block change limits are still in place so you won't have to worry about accidentally turning all of the water to dirt.
