  1. We have begun the process of creating a new map for Creative Revision 29! The Cadmin team would like to gather your input on what the next map will look like. Please vote on the series of questions, if you have additional input feel free to comment. ~The Cadmins
  2. Generally foul language (curse words and other explicit remarks) is socially unacceptable in public around children. As such when our players use it, younger players find themselves excluded from our community because it can't be avoided in global chat currently. I would like to propose that we add "Please keep language in global chat PG." I think this will be accommodating to the varied audiences we have on our server, while unrestricted (assuming it is not abusive) speech can still be carried out in clanchat and PM. Admins, please consider the above rule proposal.
  3. Could we please make it a rule not to allow a region to block /spawn? People have been able to set player traps using it and in all honesty I don't think there's ever a circumstance where you shouldn't be able to go to spawn.
  4. One idea I thought of was to start something new for server admins, an inauguration post. Basically when a player gets elevated to an admin position, the new server admin would prepare a post (short or lengthy) about what expectations the community should have for them, what some of their plans are as admin, they're past on the server, etc. I think if server admins did this it would show more publicly their care for the server they'll be admin of, and possibly assist in keeping the community content. Also in the process, this should alleviate some of the tension between the player community and staff by keeping everyone connected through direct communication. Thoughts?
  5. This is just a quick reminder to add notes if you guys warn someone for something. There have been a few instances of someone being warned for something, but no note is made which is not good. Adding notes helps us document rule breaking and allows us to see when we need to take further actions.
  6. So here comes my big old suggestion part II: please keep in mind this is all in the name of improving creatives standing as a server all together and promote players to join. Some might remember that creative long long ago was without flying and in my opinion it was one of the high points of being challenging while having a nice balance of still being enjoyable. I'll keep this relatively short cause I think maybe a poll or just this discussion would help a lot to move this idea foward or keep it in the past. Thanks everyone!
  7. A new dome has been born! Dome 7! The dome will be traditionally dug from bedrock to height limit with no WorldEdit and the dome's diameter will be 321 blocks! Anyone is allowed to Join and dig! To get to Dome 7 type '/Home Haiku Dome'(a warp will be added later), if there are any questions feel free to ask Me, Timinator58, or Trekman10!

  11. Hello everyone! The wonderful C admin SirTacoface and the tadmin slide have helped to set up a design contest. TL;DR Imgur album available HERE. (But at least check the rules!) BACKGROUND: I have built a monopoly board on P at about 0,-500, along the north road from spawn. The purpose of the board is to have a playable mural of P history and community. Once it is complete, it will also be a fully functional and playable monopoly board (horses highly recommended). Players will be the game pieces. Monopoly money will be provided, "dice" will be available, and cards for chance and community chest will also be there. It should be a lot of fun once it's ready. However, all of the properties on that board are currently blank. There are 22 properties in all. This contest is to determine the designs for all 22 properties on that board. It will be built and decided upon by players of mcpublic/nerd.nu. Once the contest ends, I will be working on getting those designs placed on the board and will announce when it is ready for people to play monopoly. CONTEST RULES: The rules are pretty straightforward. Each property is 9x10 and designs can be any theme related to P. You could design a property to reflect a city, a build, a player, an inside-joke, whatever you like. It just must be related to P. However, you must stick to the standard server rules, such as no NSFW builds, no racism or homophobia, etc. While a normal property piece on a monopoly board is flat, you do not need to worry about that with this board. You also do not need to add the color bars (such as blue for Park Place). They will be the flat area next to your piece so people playing the monopoly board can run by if they like. You should also design one where the materials can be reasonably acquired on P, or it may not be completed. A lot of beacons and skulls would be awesome, but almost impossible to complete when there's so many properties. Captive mobs in your design may also be difficult (but possible in some cases), so keep that in mind. You do not need to be a regular p.nerd.nu player to enter. Anyone is welcome to design while the contest is open and vote once the contest closes. HOW TO ENTER: Log onto C.nerd.nu and use the command "/mvtp contest-monopoly". It will warp you to the contest area, where there are a bunch of 10x10 plots. Please remember to make your design 9x10 instead of 10x10. Use "/plotme" to get a plot and build away! You will only get one plot. Please use the closest available plots to the rules board so that people browsing the designs will see your build. Please also add a sign with your name and the name of your build. For example, if you decide to do a design based on the Unity spaceship, you might title it "Unity". This will help players remember your design when it comes to vote. Finish your design before 3/23! HOW TO VOTE: The contest will close on Monday, 3/23. You will no longer be able to claim or modify a plot on that date. We will then have 1 week of voting, which will end on Monday, 3/30. Voting will be done by poll on this forum. I will take screenshots of each design and link them with the options. If possible, we will keep the warp active so people can browse the builds in person, but I will need to check with the admins on that. The plan is for each person to have 5 total votes to allocate as they please. I will do my best to set that up in a way that prevents any funny business and allows you all to pick your favorites without issue. If the poll mechanism on the forum does not work for that purpose, we will do old fashion replies and I will hand count them. WARNING: While there are 22 properties available, only one property of any theme will be included on the board. This means that if two Unity properties win enough votes, only the design with the most votes will be placed on the actual board. Be sure to check other plots to see what themes they are doing before you decide on yours. There is a very real possibility of splitting votes! Keep that in mind when you design! Feel free to ask questions or raise suggestions. If there are any problems, we may modify the rules and we will do our best to let people know of those changes. You can also message or /mail me in game. Have fun!

  13. Hello everyone, We would like for the server admins to write up a little description of your server so we can start actively advertising on /r/mcservers. The heads will be taking care of making the posts and all that fun stuff, so the only extra work for you guys after a description is written would be to keep the description updated. If anyone has any issues with this, please feel free to contact one of the heads.
  14. Lobby Design Contest #2 Starts: April 11th 2015 Ends: May 9th 2015 Where: Creative Server - World: Contest-Lobby (/mvtp Contest-Lobby) Rules: All standard nerd.nu rules apply You must build your design on C, we will not be importing builds. If you have a small part you would like imported then we can do that, but we are not importing entire designs Spawn can be anywhere, however, all portals have to be relatively evenly spaced from spawn. No “prioritizing” or “favoriting” one portal by having it closer to spawn then the others (exception being E) Portals must be at least 15 blocks away from the spawn point Unused plots can and will be reclaimed 1 plot per person, may be part of others builds Portal frames can be built out of anything Open portal blocks (the spinning purple blocks or water you travel into to teleport to the selected server) can be any block you want Closed portal blocks (the purple wool/ice that appears when a portal closes) can be any block Design needs to hold at least 200 people Design can be a max size of 200x200 (no height limit) Must have C, P, S, E Portals How it works: We will be using the same system as last time: PlotMe. WorldEdit commands will also be the same. You will be able to claim 1 plot per person in which to build your design. Each plot is 200x200 however you do not need to fill the entire space. Groups builds are highly encouraged. SafeBuckets is enabled, though you are able to place flowing water/lava. You will need to /modreq for flowing water/lava still, sorry =/ WorldEdit is enabled for use in your plot(s) only, however most commands are rate limited to help server stability. Any abuse will result in a ban. The map is currently limited to 36 plots as group builds are preferred, but we can expand if it's needed. The winner will be chosen by a vote on the forum. Commands: "/plot claim" to claim the plot you are standing in "/plot home" to get back to your plot "/plot info" to get info about a plot "/plot list" to list your plots "/plot clear" to clear out your plot "/plot add <player>" to add someone to your plot "/plot remove <player>" to remove someone from your plot "/plot dispose" to give up your plot "/i water" to get flowing water "/i lava" to get flowing lava "/i portal" to get the portal block WorldEdit commands available: undo, redo, wand, sel, desel, pos1, pos2, hpos1, hpos2, chunk, expand, contract, outset, inset, shift, size, distr, set, replace, overlay, walls, outline, smooth, hollow, move, stack, copy, cut, paste, rotate, flip, cyl, hcyl, sphere, hsphere, pyramid, hpyramid, pumpkins, fill, drain, fixwater, fixlava, removeabove, removebelow, removenear, replacenear, snow, thaw, sp Exempt from rate limiting: sel, desel, pos1, pos2, hpos1, hpos2, chunk, expand, contract, outset, inset, shift, size, count, distr, copy, cut
  15. Hello everyone, I made a test post in the "Survival Suggestions" sub-forum and checked it out with another account with mod perms. The perms look to be setup right to me, so I would like to move forward with this idea. For those who don't know, the sub-forum is intended to replace the uservoices we have setup which have several drawbacks. The big thing using the sub-fourm over a uservoice would do would be to centralize everything. People would not have to create a new account to suggest something or have another website to check. There are a couple ways we can set this up. First, have one sub-forum where anyone can make a suggestion and use tags to filter through the ideas and let the appropriate admins handle the thread. Second, each server has its own sub-forum (maybe have a general one for the heads and techs) and let the appropriate admins handle the threads in their sub-forum. We could even pin the server's change logs in their sub-forum to help declutter the main "Minecraft Decision" forum. I would like to hear what everyone thinks about this, so please comment below.
  16. Just checked with some other people and the dynmap seems to be just black screening and not loading, is it down?
  17. Hello everyone, here's what I have for the new alt banning policy. Alt Account Banning Policy - A minimum of 2 weeks will be added to the original ban length for every account used to evade a ban on any of our servers. Any accounts used to evade a ban will be banned for the same amount of time as the original banned account. Admins reserve the right to add additional time depending on the circumstances, and only appealed bans will be lifted. We decided to give everyone a week to comment and make any changes to the policy before implementing it. However, since there is a holiday this week I decided to not count that day as part of the week, so please comment below if you have anything you would like to add or change by December 1st.
  18. This is really only a problem on C due to TP being enabled. There has been a dramatic rise in regular players following new players (ones who join with a "-") on C. I have personally witnessed new players to join, get the normal barrage of "hello!" and then have up to 5 regulars immediately TP to them and follow them around, which I assume is a misguided attempt to help catch grief and get noticed for being a "good helpful member of the community." However, all this is really doing is scaring off new players, who arrive and are immediately harassed by 1-5 people shadowing them everywhere. They can't even leave spawn without having someone follow them around. If that were me I'd be creeped out and quit too. We need to stop scaring people off. The fact is, mods are much better equipped to stalk new players if they feel they need to with /vanish. We can see if they check the plugin list, we can see NCP, and we can assess their "threat level" and if they warrant a look where players can't. I had previously spoke to Dumbo about it in Mumble when I was a mod, and I've tried to speak to a few people via /msg who do it continuously, but its an ongoing problem. I don't think a short public service post in general server discussion is a bad idea. Some alternate suggestions that were made in Mumble when we talked about it: 1. Setting /tpmode ask for all new players. The drawback here is that new players might not be able to figure out the command. We could also add a join message to the effect of "Your TP is in ASK mode. Do /tpmode allow to allow all players to TP to you" 2. Not displaying the "-" for new players to the general server population. I don't know if this is a good idea or not since a lot of people like to welcome new players (and that's fine, just not the tp stalking). I'm just sitting here trying to think of ways to retain more players and this one keeps running around in my head- its hard enough to get new players and I don't want their first experience on our server to be crazy stalker people following them around, making them quit. What do you guys think?
  19. There are a couple of small ideas for Creative that have been proposed, but no action has been taken on them yet. I'd like to use this thread to facilitate discussion of these ideas (particularly between the Creative and tech admins, though others' opinions are certainly welcome) so that they can actually see some daylight and (possibly) be implemented on C. A good portion of Creative players have been asking for the /hat command for a while now; is there any reason not to allow default players to use the command? I had been told a while ago that it couldn't be enabled due to the possibility of player data corruption, but I haven't been able to figure out how this is able to lead to data corruption any more than the /i command is. I've also talked with a couple of techs now who haven't seen a problem with it. Is there a basis for this concern, or are hats safe? If they are safe, I think we should enable the /hat command on C. The idea of command blocks has also come up. The proposal is to allow admins to place command blocks at players' requests on C; after receiving a request, the admin would evaluate the command to determine whether it's appropriate or not. The main reason for enabling this would be to give players' builds another level of functionality, particularly for use in "test"-like builds which require the player to pass through a series of challenges. For example, someone might want to give an item to or play a sound for a player once they reach a certain spot. We would only allow certain commands to be used, of course; I'm thinking we would allow commands such as /effect, /give, /playsound, /tell, /testfor, and /tp. Additional conditions would also need to be met, such as specifying only a limited range of players and being connected to 'reasonable' redstone (e.g. not a clock such that the player's inventory gets filled to capacity). In general, though, command blocks would be evaluated from a holistic standpoint, in reference to how it is used. I spoke with LadyCailin a couple of days ago, and it sounds like one concern with this idea is containment. For example, once a command block is placed, how would we assure that the surrounding redstone is not changed in order to utilize the command block in a different way than was originally planned? The idea of using EasySigns as a replacement was proposed as a replacement: As I understand it, they could be bound to buttons, pressure plates, and levers to trigger an event. While this would evade the problem, the signs would also prevent events from being triggered dynamically at all and would only trigger events upon direct interaction with the player. However, this situation would in part eliminate one of the uses of command blocks -- to dynamically run commands based on redstone input. A more desirable solution, I think, would be to use the existing tools we have at our disposal. Before placing a command block, we check the redstone to ensure that it is reasonable and doesn't do anything unwanted. The entire area of contiguous redstone would then be protected with a 2-block buffer, with no owners or members. This would prevent anyone from editing the redstone after the fact; if the builder does request to edit the area again, the command block will need to be removed and requested again after the player is done editing. This process has the potential to be a bit of a hassle, but it would ensure that command blocks are safe and do only what they were originally intended to do. Feedback on these ideas would be appreciated. They're not huge changes, but I think they might bring a bit more to Creative that people have been interested in seeing.
  20. In response to https://nerd.nu/forum/index.php?/topic/1524-creative-the-current-state/ , I think we are in need of some changes on creative. Here are some things, that with the other C admins approval, I would like to go ahead with as soon as possible on C. A true survival mode when using /mode, including damage by fall/fire. Allow arrows to be used. Expand the current map, and target a mid-march revision change. Have the use of /wand to measure things (I'm not that familiar with wand and it's capabilities, so if there is more that could be dangerous let me know) Allow players to put blocks on their heads allow potions to be used (except invisibility) Allow block placement of TNT by everyone (so it's aesthetic and doesn't explode like now) Allow the placement of beacons by everyone Obviously much of this isn't vanilla, but the community has spoken and I don't see how any of these could harm our current small playerbase. Let me know what you guys think.
  21. Hello everyone, We need to have a donation drive sometime soon, so I figured I would start a thread about planning it. The goal of the drive will be to provide funding for the servers for another year, and according to Deaygo we would need $4500 to do that. Here are a few things that we need to discuss before moving forward. What type of event should we have? When should we have the drive? How can we get the word out about the drive? I would like to ask everyone to comment asap so we can get this thing moving.
  22. Come build your best among a city in the sky with me. Build as you please here, but take only what you need, as space is limited, but your creativity is not. Show me what you can do. Join us at /home mastercommathe Sky
  23. Please help me welcome SwitchViewz as the new Event Admin and ExcessiveToker as the new Creative Admin! SwitchViewz has been playing on the servers since November 2012 and has been helping out as a mod since May 2014. You may know him from the Friday Night Gaming events, helping to build some of the holiday lobbies, UMC and Whiteoak on PvE. For those who are wondering what the Event Admin will do, they are in charge of leading the event server, coming up with ideas for events, coordinating players and staff, helping out server admins with running events on their respective servers, etc. ExcessiveToker has been playing since late 2013 and has been helping out as a mod since January 2015. You may know her from Potlandia on Creative. Both of these people will bring a lot of experience, ideas, and a new perspective to the admin teams they are joining, and I look forward to working with both of them!
  24. Those of you who've been on the server for a few years may remember my Puzzle Challenge, where players have to solve riddles, crack codes, and such. I'm currently working on a third, Creative-oriented scavenger hunt. If all goes well, the event should go live around mid-march. But first, I need your help! Specifically, I'm looking for suggestions for prizes. What would you want to see the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners get? Premium building spaces near spawn? Subreddit flair? Free items on S or P? Get Creative!
