Next Survival Rev ideas

Hello all, I've just been thinking about stuff for the next survival rev that sort of combines ideas from past revs and the present rev and was just wondering what people may think

 

- Small PvE towns with rentable houses and villagers being able to trade emeralds for diamond tools/armour

- 8 houses that are 5x5 and have 2 already placed double chests, 2 furnaces and a crafting table only the house renter may access with signs on each house saying whose house is whose and how much time is left until the house becomes rentable

- If you have combat tag on it adds an extra 30 seconds when entering a PvE town

- Announcement when a house is able to be rented (is renewed every 24 hours) and picks two random items out of the double chests in your house to read out when announcement is made

- PvP is enabled 3 blocks around the house so if a clan wants to claim an entire PvE town for themselves it is possible to protect the house for there clan mate

- 2000x2000 map with 5 portals being able to travel with them like previous revs they are at the following locations :

x 0 z 0

x 0 z 2000

x 0 z -2000

x 2000 z 0

x -2000 z 0

- Bumped up ore spawns so it's easy to get diamond armour at the PvE town villager traders

- Being able to reinforce blocks like with the current rev

- Griefing allowed for base raiding fun like on the current rev

- Clans and snitches

- PvP arenas placed around the map for events

- Also could bring back the roads, could keep prison pearl and could take out random spawns

 

If anyone has any thoughts about this, good or bad, just tell me :)

I really can't agree with the PvE ideas, Survival is PvP based and more importantly, it's Survival - not what it used to be crossed with PvE. 
If this were to ever be considered, I'd wait for a Mumble meeting to discuss it in properly.

Chaos used to be a different game type, now survival is most of the way to being converted to chaos. I'm not actively suggesting moving towards PvE any more, but I still think it will work. Look at how many people you got by being more like chaos, you'll get an even greater number of new players when you are more like PvE.

PvE zones would cause a massive amount of drama. Already if someone runs away, they are constantly called out in chat. Even if you extend the combat tag, a user could still easily hide until that is over. There used to be PvE sections on S, but it was taken away because it was abused too much. I have no doubt we would run into the same issues as we have in the past.

In my opinion it's something that we don't really need. Survival has stressed hard in the recent past that it doesn't want to be a hybrid of PvE, and frankly I don't see any difference to PvE towns on Survival compared to PvE towns on PvE. 
If people want no-PvP areas, we have an entire server for that, but Survival needs to stick to the base traits it's always had.

You don't need to have PvE areas I thought it may just be something that brings in more people to the server which is something that Survival needs

 

If it's not protected, the towns will be camped and all the players living there will be killed. If they are protected, it'll be abused. The only way towns and cities will work on S is if a community steps up to build one (which I wanted, tried, and failed to do this rev).

At the risk of sounding like I'm criticising the current survival revision could we not go back to how it was but open up another server that implements all of the features that in place just now? (I am not having a go at the current revision I just like the old style and thought of a compromise.) 

Someone else brought this up somewhere on the subreddit I think, and it'd be nice to give it a shot in all honesty. I suggested some ideas very similar to it soon after the current revision started.

The problem is then you split the S community (that already has low numbers at the moment) as  a decent amount of players would just stick to their one server and not really play on the other

But it's a different style of server, s players would join s and the players that like the style of server that is up now will join that, I don't see where anyone loses in that. That's like saying we should never have split off from just being a creative server to having pvp and pve because it would split off the c players. (obviously not that extreme but still.)

They are different gamemodes. The difference between normal survival and current survival is something, but not big enough for Nerd to cater to each separately. Current survival is very close to chaos, which in the past has never sustained numbers due to the few differences, such as world borders. I believe splitting the community should be ruled out. The whole community will not be pleased by any one option, so we shouldn't keep saying no to ideas as if that shuts them off entirely. Creative has moved slightly towards PvE by allowing users to change into survival mode (without being able to pick up items, but can damage each other). That didn't do any harm to either server.

we put ourselves into survival mode to get more like past creative (no flight not insta break) you can still /i items so it's not really anything like pve apart from the fact you cannot fly. When survival changed to this style of gamemode it brought a lot of new players in that play on servers that run that type of gamemode. It also scared a lot of our older survival players off. By saying don't change it so we don't split the players that's essentially saying, lets make half the server play a gamemode they don't actually want to play to please the other half.

Now, im not much of a PVP player anymore nor am I active on survival, but I think the jailing system needs a bit of work. Its far too easy to get ender pearls and diamonds. Correct me if im wrong but more diamonds= more hours in jail? I think if this system where to stay in place, it should be a hell of a lot more expensive. This way you don't have people trapping everyone for long periods of time and not trapping newer players.
