Changes to look forward to:
Smaller map
Back to normal nether (mostly, will keep obsidian spikes if possible)
Bringing back pearl cooldown
Removing strength II (due to all the issues with it) (also because dat shit cray)
Beds will no longer set your spawn point
More PvP incentive through Economy
Weekly SAL fights occurring on different days of the week (points from this revision will be carrying over to next revision)
Bulletin board at spawn for player ads
100-150 block square buffer zone from spawn to prevent chunks constantly loaded
Community farm inside spawn for new players
The way shops are done
Unsafe buckets for sale in the shop (griefing with them will be a bannable offense)
Buyable XP from the server shop

/spawn will be enabled with a 10 second warm up and a 15 minute cool down (this particular feature is a dying wish of rtr69 that I am respecting)

You can now steal other people's horses

All animals are now able to murderated

Auctions (courtesy of c45y and another dying wish of rtr69)

What to Expect

The premise of Survival will be the same.  Roads will not have ice and will not go to the end of the map; roads are also not based on colours this revision, but instead on biomes based on an idea that nickeynickey123 brought to me.  There will be Nether portals in the middle and at the end of all roads, as well as the one in spawn.  Spawn will be mostly re-enterable and shop will have access through spawn.

Stay tuned for more details to be released up through revision launch!  You may ask questions and comment in this thread.

Many thanks to c45y, Barlimore, and zburdsal for all of their very very hard work in getting this completed with me.  Revision 29 would not be happening without them.

But why? Beds are so useful to people who, uh, are murdered a lot.

'omfg why did the lamb quit i blame toby for whining' :P

I welcome the chance to test out what is a commonly requested change, but I will not be taking part in it.

Short notice, then reschedule for balogna reason.  Change rules that make dedicated players mad without explanation.  Recycle announcement posts that still don't confirm or deny if you're capable of making changes.  Teaser that we will get further details before the launch, but nothing other than further delays.

The things S is doing right is spread very thin.  Heads, I beg of you to take down survival, appoint new admins to run a third server on Nerd, and even if it is exactly the same theme call it something else.  Your brand is ruined beyond repair.

Yeah, gotta say, S was not high on my list, but now with these changes, I have even less desire to play there.  Seems like they are going for a record of least amount of interested players.  Day one might be busy, but there is little reason to keep coming back.

What if the players continue to request large changes frequently, what if the same damage is done on the new server?

I really liked S, but it makes me sad that I apparently started playing as it was dying.. I wish that wasn't the case..

Don't worry it's been dying for like two years now, it might well stagger on for a couple more revs. Every server and its ensuing community has a time and place. A lot of what made S great is still present on the active parts of nerd.nu, some of its dynamics have been preserved and developed on other minecraft networks and there are loads more games with a similar feel. It isn't necessarily sad that S is basically dead when it was fun was for so long, what is sad is the undignified and painfully slow way it has declined, as well as the time a lot have us have wasted repeatedly pointing this out.

Texas, thank you for your feedback. At the moment I'm in the process of gathering all contructive criticism and ideas from the past few months to-date that the survival community have put forward. I'm glad to see you all have such passion and still encourage you to contribute ideas.

In regards to your plea and concerns about the short notice change of launch I want to be clear that delaying a launch just two to three days away from the announced date was necessary as one of the key components in bringing this revision to life, LadyRavenOwl would have been effectively unable to work with our tech admins for the launch period. Both Rtr69 and MrGauthier34 will be stepping down / returning to a moderator role as per their request once the new revision has launched.

I don't mean to detract from the launch news by hijacking this topic with my post but that last line of my second paragraph is one of the reasons I'm very interested in gathering feedback from the survival community, so much so that I'll be around on the revision somewhere near spawn (building and surviving, not standing around like a lemon).

Yeah, it's the same criticism from the past few years to date to be honest.

Also from what I've heard on the survival skype chat, this is as far from vanilla the s admins can go due to poor head/tech communication. Certain former/current s admins complained about head/tech admins taking weeks-months to reply to any questions and help. It explains why the majority of the changes done in rev 29 have been existing features of the Kitchen Sink plugin for a long time. Good on LadyRavenOwl for trying her best with these constraints. Hopefully s can get new tech admins that are willing to allow the s community to actually grow or at the very least stop hemorrhaging players (for example: c45y got a lot of rev 29 functionality work done the moment he was given access to the server )

Barlimore:

Thank you for responding, this is unusual from a head admin.  While I find this encouraging and I can appreciate what you're saying about it being all on LRO's shoulders... Why is it all on her shoulders?  There are other players in the community that can fill the empty space of S Admin.  I don't feel my most recent criticisms are constructive, please don't credit me with that.  I do appreciate your professionalism but my comments have been down right rude.  Currently I feel that we are doing the community a great disservice with the S server, the lack of communication, and the many delays are only part of it.  Even if we argue the server launched today on time, it isn't complete.  It took a lot of digging to find the information but, I learned that a lot of work was lost somehow.  Why do we continue to throw things together at the last minute?  We've found this to be a flaw in the last countless number of revisions.  And furthermore, why wouldn't we communicate the data loss to players more openly?  It may have stopped some of my cynicism...

So going in order, here are my thoughts on the changes listed here:

- Good, a smaller map encourages PvP and less hiding away from other players. If you're the kind of player who enjoys the danger of building when you could be killed at any minute, this should make things more tense and add more of that danger. If you don't enjoy either, S probably isn't the server for you to be playing on. PvP and Survival are the focuses remember.

- No opinion really, it was cool while it lasted but it didn't add that much imo

- Something that players have been asking for for a while

- Again something players have been asking for, Strength II was dumbbbbb

- Not having beds goes back to the first point. Players who like to PvP will see more players through spawn, and players who like the survival aspect should try to not die if they don't want to get seen at spawn. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mean spawn killing/camping. Something DementedM0nkey and I would do is follow players from spawn back to their home so we knew if players were on, we knew where to go (Shoutout to Casey back in rev like 24)

- Ayy a reason to PvP? Not bad

- Well. Now I wish I would have participated last revision, but rewarding players who play consistently? I like it.

- You better believe if my casino ever gets built, that's where my ads will go. Not a big change, but it's a cool edition with economy.

- Meh. I personally don't like giving players things on a Survival server. It's not the admins job to help players survive, that defeats the purpose of the server imo. But I know a lot of players pushed for this

- I wish there was more specifics with this, I kinda liked shops last rev, but if they're better then I'm all for it.

- How you gonna put me out of a job like this? I'm out here tryna make a living by flowing water and now these fancy machines be givin out my water flowin? rip dizney's career

- I like this, it allows players to move to spawn and PvP/find players easier.

- Not quite sure about this or how it works, so I don't really have an opinion

- Good. This adds value to animals, which adds value to their droppings, which adds value for economy. If you're upset about this, then I'm sure the players who are smart with their animals will be happy to sell you some steak.

- A good addition to economy, not much else to say.

All in all these are changes I like, and suit me better as a player, and suits the server better imo. If I had more time I would probably play on S again. Alas other things pre-occupy my time now, and I probably won't be on as often as I'd like to be, so I wanted to voice my support for these changes.
