  1. uh... isn't that kinda the whole point of updating the launcher in the first place? can't get to the game without signing in to the launcher, and if it's using heartbleed-vulnerable OpenSSL then... yeah. heartbleed is client-side as well as server-side.
  2. in any case i haven't been playing minecraft much anyway because of lack of interest, college and dark souls 2 lol but on a more serious note i'm just being cautious, for all i know pre 1.7.7 probably uses pre 1.0.1g OpenSSL
  3. hm... well doing that will just defeat the purpose of me even changing my Minecraft password, so i think i can hold off for a bit
  4. i probably don't need to explain the Heartbleed bug to all of you, but for those who are too lazy to Google it, basically "2/3rds of the Internet" is now compromised because of a computer science 101 coding mistake in OpenSSL, a widely-used security library. is the downtime in response to this security incident? i hope it is, because i'm getting sick and tired of changing passwords right now lol
  5. i submitted a modreq or two about this, but i figure i'd make a thread to make getting consecutive responses easier. so anyway, i built a little "slot machine" thing that dispenses random items when you put 1 gold bar in a hopper (or whatever cost i feel like putting at the moment). this thing got looted once, so i checked to make sure everything was locked - found a hopper that wasn't locked, called myself an idiot, fixed that, then surrounded the thing with obsidian. then it got looted again and now i'm starting to think someone's getting in and messing with the redstone inside. is something like this allowed? the first modreq i made about this, TornadoHorse got back to me and called it "a dick move".
  6. how often do people frequent this room? like half the time i log in, the room's empty and i end up wandering random front-page rooms trying to avoid crappy dubstep.
  7. ^yeah, basically i don't pvp much (only in self-defense or arena events) so personally i just want SimpleClans back to help me manage who i know on the server
  8. right, i remember reading something about people restarting clans becuse their KDR was too low or something. i don't know the whole "culture" of the pvp-heavy types on S, but it seems kind of absurd to fret about KDR too much when the bulk of it is from spawn camping helpless players. if i were good at Minecraft pvp i'd only care about KDR if it counted armor vs. armor kills only, with equal or near-equal equipment. somewhat off-topic, but the people worrying about KDR on this game remind me of the people who worry about KDR on GTA Online, which is rendered pointless since it tracks player kills in every game mode, including free roam, and - surprise surprise - some players' KDRs are bloated from spawn camping other players.
  9. from what i've read in the subreddit, SimpleClans was removed because people didn't like the eyesore that was clan tags. the thing that gets me is that there was a command to turn off clan tags client-side (/clan tag off or something like that). would it be possible for you guys to put SimpleClans back in, with the tags off for everyone by default? or at least tell people about the command to turn tags off? i really liked SimpleClans because i used it as a makeshift friends list and /clan roster was really useful for determining when people are usually on.
