Which topic would that be? The original post was congratulating us on 100k bans. Most everything after that was different topics.

You were warned that any future infractions will result in a ban length of at least a year. That where the year came from, not just from you saying those things.
I dont want to argue about my ban in a public thread but: I was banned for something that is vaguely mentioned in the rules.

Do you honestly think he was banned for JUST shooting an arrow through a portal? The recent long term bans were warned multiple times. What's bullshit is that they keep doing stuff.
Honestly something I would love is a small page per player on the nerd site that had a list of every single rule a player has broken. That way, when long term bans are issued, we can point to that page and show exactly why. I guarantee it would list 10x more then you ever would admit or even knew about.
I would love that for my ban because there would be nothing :D

While I like the chat filter idea, we would need to be thorough about finding and blocking all forms of getting around certain words so we truly have an air tight seal so to say.
Not really. All nerd would need is list of banned words like this there already is (mainly all of the homophobic and racist ones). After the chat filter is installed if a user who first joins the server and uses one of those words they will just be warned by the plugin, and if they get around the plugin then a mod / admin could kick / temp ban / do what every they feel is necessary.
there honestly should have been a chat filter plugin loooooooooong ago, but then again, People weren't such cry babies back then about chat,

What would saying a banned word do if this were implemented, I know you suggested it placed a MCBouncer note on them, but would it kick them, tempban them? The only chat filter systems that I've seen on minecraft servers censor cuss words, like someone says f*ck and it gets replaced with that minecraft special random character text.
You can set the chat filter to not allow the message to be sent or have the banned word be replaced with another word.
A player who had several unrelated ban appeals in the past, including one saying this is your final chance, chose to abuse a bug that the admins were aware of. Context matters, though not as much on S.
Automated chat moderation sounds like a bad idea. There would be so many false positives (or claims of) that it would be watered down till it does almost nothing. Could someone provide some chat logs in text from S and we can see how many bad words are used in a jail-worthy way?
1st, I dont know what you are talking about but im guessing you are refering to me since we talked earlier, but i dont know what that has to do with what is being currently discussed.
2nd. If there is a false positive an admin could just remove the note if there was on added automatically. I have played on servers that have a chat filter in effect like this and chat is always clean.

Pulling away from that, if we were to implement a chat-filter system, I'd be pleased if saying a banned word also placed a note on the player attempting to say bad things. That way, we can keep track of repeat offenders that could otherwise keep coming back after their temp-bans/jailings.
this is 200% more productive than the jail plugin idea mentioned.

People will always find ways to circumvent chat filters, or use slurs that aren't in the chat filter and say "oh. it wasn't in the filter. That means I can say it"
Well for example if the word "faggot" is banned and the user uses "f4ggot" that would be a reason for a temp ban / ban for getting around the chat filter.

I agree unce. There should be a list of banned words so if they get said in game the jail plugin will send them to a cell automatically.

So for this whole trollish "congrats on the 100k bans" to continue is ridiculous. The reason we have 100k bans is cause we were an enormous presence back in 2011-2012 and with that, came the threat of massive amounts of griefers who often and continuously struck the servers, obviously leading to all of them being banned, and then since they did not care, they would/will not appeal.
I wouldn't say this is a "troll" congratulations. After learning there have been around 100k bans in 5 years ( Unce- Thats like 54 bans per day for 5 years.) I thought i should point it out and discuss.

The only people I ever hear complain about it being ban happy are the ones getting banned. I don't hear 99% of p complaining, or 99% of c complaining? Those servers are staffed by the same people and somehow, they get along with us and the rules quite nicely. Have y'all ever, even once considered that y'all are the problem?

Denevien, I think what gsand is getting at is players spend the time to make a forum account, post a ban appeal, and wait for the admin to reply to tell them what they already know.

I have to agree with Gsand.
The current ban appeal system isn't efficient and makes the player feel they need to beg for forgiveness for a rule violation.

In all honesty i wouldn't care to be banned or unbanned. It was fun for the couple of days i got to play and say hi to old friends while trying to make players mad (which worked i guess? lol)

Knowing i was just unbanned i doubt this will do anything except make me look like an ass.
I was banned for "Inappropriate behavior in chat" after i was warned by BeastBruiser the previous day.
I know a few things i have said were a little inappropriate then again I was warned for them. After i was warned through the /mail I played for about another 5-10 minutes and logged out. I havent played since i was warned. So when i go to log in tonight to give my friend some items i see im banned.
I honestly think this is a joke that either admins are so un-organized they punish a player after they have already been warned or they just wanted to find a reason to ban a player they don't like.
If this was a ban because a specific user complained maybe the /ignore command should be advertised more so if they don't like what one person says they don't have to see it
Thanks for reading and hopefully i can be unbanned right away since this is a miscommunication clearly.

Hello.I was told to reapeal for my unban on the 21st, just posting 1 day early since I will be busy most of this weekend. I have looked over the rules at ( http://www.redditpublic.com/wiki/Rules ) to be refreshed on everything so I can stay unbanned.

I found the servers like many other players did, AVO videos. I watched some of their videos and then found out what server it was on. I joined griefed and got banned. It could have been the end of it there and i never joined back, But the servers were different that any other minecraft server i had played at that time. After i got unbanned for griefing i played for awhile and made many friends through mumble and in game. I dont play minecraft as much as i use to anymore and many of my old friends i made on nerd.nu are still playing on the servers. I have had more chances that most other players and i appreciate that greatly. I was very immature 1-2 years ago while playing. I have been in an admin position for some servers and i realized how annoying players like i am. If i get unbanned all im going to do is just hop on S and play with friends from time to time.
I know im not the best at writing a defense but i really enjoy the servers and the community. I was very stupid to get myself banned as much as I did. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully it will help you make a decision.

Randomdoor was banned multiple times just like i was, and if im correct he was only unbanned for about a week before banned again just like me.
