  1. Hello Monroezabaleta

First off, please keep accusations of other players out of your appeal. An appeal is for discussing your behavior, not other players.

Please PM any proof of hacking to myself or one of the heads

    Ban Information

Ban for MonroeZabaleta on c.nerd.nu for Inappropriate conduct in chat/harassment/public accusations in chat nerd.nu/appeal by Mrloud15 on Feb. 11, 2015, 5:39 a.m. (no more bans, 5 notes)

Please give an admin at least 48 hours to respond.  If no one has responded to your appeal within that time then feel free to B.U.M.P your appeal by commenting here.

  2. I find it odd that we are spending most of the time arguing over what to call a server, when we haven't even decided what direction to take it.

Perhaps we can stop arguing over the minute details and come together towards a productive discussion of what direction to take the server.

The time for a discussion about what to call a server would be better served once we know more about what the server will look like.

  3. So now i'm not a "survival core player." good to know i guess.

I started on S, and other than one rev where i built an Iron farm on P (while simultaneously playing and building on S during the revs that overlapped that one PvE rev) I have pretty much played exclusively on S. I have frequently been in the top 5 on usage for S and have had several revs where i had over 1000 hours logged. I have built quite a few huge builds single handedly including a full size arena that was used for the subsequent S rev. Many of my builds have been near spawn forcing me to either use diplomacy or pvp to defend myself. I have built many xp, mob, and iron grinders, all public, to try and encourage pvp. I've helped out new players with advice and gear to get them started. I even built a pvp kitting station that would give out food, weapons, pearls, and arrows to encourage pvp and spent many hours gathering resources to keep it stocked.  I've played on S for every revision since i bought minecraft and joined during rev 15.(incidentally I found Nerd.nu from the link on /r/minecraft and S was the first server I ever played on)

Since becoming Admin, I admit my usage stats have dropped, Do you know why? Yes, partially because I have had IRL stuff come up(such as work which has me getting up at 4:15 every morning and not getting home until after 6:15 at night) but also because I spend a large amount of time performing admin duties that take away from my play time. If I look at my personal statistics for this rev in minecraft, I have been logged onto the server enough to be in the top 20 easily, but as the usage stats don't log AFK time, it doesn''t show the hours spent combing logs and querying logblock for modreqs and moderating duties. None of this shows the amount of time spent doing admin duties out of game.

What does a player have to do to be considered a "survival server core player?"

  4. I figured this would be the case which is why I mentioned that I would work on scheduling a secondary meeting to discuss the same issues.  I think it would be a great idea to do a whenisgood chart of people who don't live in the North American section.  :D

you can filter out specific people from the whenisgood list so they don't have to fill out a separate survey.

click on a name on the left and select exclude

  5. Previous appeal

Just to clarify, you were banned for X-ray, not X-ray hacks.  X-ray, by definition, is stopping the rendering of any blocks besides desirable ones( such as ores, chests, spawners ETC) which helps to locate them and gain an unfair advantage over other players.

whether xraying with a mod or exploiting a glitch, it is still xraying and still against the rules.

Please take a second to review the rules(the survival ones specifically as they have changed drastically in the last month) and reply back here stating that you have done so in order to be unbanned.

  6. Honestly i can't make heads nor tails out of the padmin log, What are you even talking about? and the voting log seems like you are voting on stuff unrelated to minecraft(although clearly very important)

All in all seems like a couple exercises in futility. :D

On a more serious note, it seems like a cool idea and a way to streamline information so i don't have to scroll through pages and pages of IRC logs to see a concise summary of other admin's thoughts. Thanks for posting this idea and the examples

  7. Hello Voltroid

    Ban info:

Ban for Voltroid on c.nerd.nu for Griefing on S by trevorman on 2011-08-14 20:07:16 (no more bans, no notes)

Since the original staff member is no longer on staff I will go ahead and handle this appeal.

Being as the ban duration would have likely only been few weeks and it has been over 3 years, I'm happy to unban you.

If you ever feel like you want to try another server I hope you will consider the nerd.nu servers. It sounds like you might enjoy the community that we have as well as helping out with some of the huge creations that our players are always working on. I do ask that you would take a moment to review the rules before logging on.

I hope to see you around sometime.

  8.

I am probably just echoing diz here....

The idea is to spread some of the work out. We only have 3 Sadmins, who we cant expect to handle all ideas/ concerns/ complaints brought upon by players. This would be a way to have multiple opinions sort through ideas. Ideally, the council would be comprised of moderators that are active in game. This is important because not every user is active on the forums or responds to our surveys.

    As far as structure...

We need it. I think before implementing this idea, there needs to be a clear cut focus for the council. I believe communication should be a big focus, because it has been severely lacking as of late. The discussion should not drag on though, as some of ours tend to do. If this, or any further ideas, are going to work, they need to be discussed and brought to fruition in a timely manner. This should also give us an opportunity to restructure the admin-mod-community relations for S entirely.

Some things the council or other councils could be responsible for....

    Events and Arenas-

There was already an idea floating around for specific moderators to be in charge of nerd events, I am unable to think of the user who brought up this idea at the moment. Hopefully someone can give that person credit for me.

    Communication-

Making sure actions decided on by Admins or moderators as results of surveys, opinions, etc. are effectively communicated to the public.

    Ideation culling-

Sifting through the many ideas brought to us by the community and narrowing it down to a few plausible options.  It should be a touch easier for those who are actively involved in game to get a feel for what the community might want. Moderators seem to have a bit less on their table, allowing for more general play time.

Hopefully we can get some responses to this and move forward with something. I am looking forward to hearing (reading) all your opinions on this matter!

It could actually be very helpful having server ideas consolidated and centralized to one spot so they are harder to miss/forget.

I definitely think that more open communication couldn't hurt, both between moderators<-->admin and staff<-->public.

As far as moderation duties, there was discussion about re-enabling a moderator chat log that would allow moderators to handle a few more of the adminreqs that require culling the logs which can be quite time consuming sometimes. I need to track down that discussion and see where it went. I think it was broken during one of the updates and never got fixed?

As far as responsibilities go, I would be fine letting a group of moderators handle SAL. I personally haven't been involved much besides just helping whoever may be running it as my schedule tends to be a little bit too flaky to commit to being around on a weekly basis. Moderators have been allowed to run arenas as far back as I can remember but I think that kinda got forgotten since few took initiative until recently.

A question for the current sadmins: What do you feel is currently overwhelming you? What can you not handle and deliver promptly and efficiently?

To have mods do some of the admin's job seem strange to me if they can handle it fine, although I think it's good that more people would be able to get involved.

For me personally I started a new job that includes an hour+ commute each way right around the beginning of rev 26 which hasn't left much time do dedicate for admin responsibilities. I've done fairly well keeping caught up with everything but it hasn't left much time for me to respond, let alone play.

I wouldn't complain having more time to actually dedicate to breaking and placing pixels.

I agree with not having this turn into an extremely formal "have to be voted in", hierarchal group. The way I have envisioned it is, like you said, more of a voluntary thing. However, I do think having some sort of steady commitment from mods/players to it is essential.

I would agree with you and mumberthrax that an semiformal group with some solid structure would be beneficial, but asking for a strict commitment can be off putting as life can change unexpectedly leaving more/less time to play than anticipated.

Nice to see someone telling that Mumber guy what's what.

Since the original moderator is no longer on staff I will go ahead and handle this appeal.

Being as the ban duration would have likely only been a week or two and it has been nearly 2 years, I'm gonna go ahead and unban you. Please take a moment to review the rules before logging on.

Welcome back and I look forward to seeing you around on the servers.

  11. I'm speaking as a player, not as staff, but IIRC world border will teleport you back 4 blocks from where you go out,

i.e. if there is a border at x=2000 and you cross it at x=2001, y=64, z=0, it will teleport you back to x=1997, y=64, z=0. however if that would place you inside blocks it will teleport you up or down the x=1997, z=0 column to an open are so you won't suffocate.  However if the entire column is full of blocks all the way from bedrock to the build limit (y=255) then it will teleport you to spawn/0,0.

Thats what i remember from screwing with it like 4-5 revs ago. It may have changed.
