  1. Having been active is not the same as being active. He hasn't been on in a month, therefore he is inactive.

    Thus my question:

What are you using to determine if a mod is active or not? what is your criteria? Not seeing them in a month? playtime? seen in IRC last? last seen on the forum?

  2. The ones marked as (Inactive) are the ones I have marked as inactive.

As stated before, I am only marking the ones that I am aware of. Any additions are welcome.

    ;D

"the ones marked are the ones i marked"

    Obviously.

That isn't what Mrloud asked though.

Mrloud has been actively looking into culling this list over the last week or two, compiling a list and trying to contact moderators.

Buchanman has been active as a moderator this rev on S even if he hasn't been on in a month.

  3. Everyone keeps talking about this "24 page long rule book." How many of you actually read it? (it's 30 pages BTW)

The first 2 pages are "welcome, this is S"  stuff.
Then a table of contents for page 3,

and 4 pages of basic game play changes such as extra crafting recipes, mods, and server config settings.

Then the oppressive list of 31 rules, one of which seems to be missing (#9?) which is 7 pages.

The next 4 pages are Tharine's new player guide

2 pages of /LWC commands come next,

followed by 3 pages describing modreqs and how to use them

1 page listing other services/resources of nerd

    4 pages listing various commands

And the book ends with 2 pages advertising PvE and C

The majority of the book is a helpful resource to players. perhaps we should change the name? Would that help?

  4. If it is a tag that appears in chat, I am against it. As shown with the clan tags, having extra stuff in the chat makes it hard to read. If it is something that simply appears next to a players name in game, it could be worth looking into and might encourage more PvP

  5. I don't see what the problem is with up/down votes. Up votes show that you agree or support an idea without having to make a seperate post to show support. Downvotes show that someone made a shitpost or that they are not contributing to the thread.

The only people that seem to be complaining are the ones that have been downvoted for making shitposts or posts that do not contribute to the discussion.

In a perfect world that may be what the downvotes are used for, but around here they more frequently get used because someone dissagrees with a contributing post or simply doesn't like the player posting. If you look through the threads (especially some of the more recent ones) the use of downvotes just spurs butthurt "y u downvote me brah" posts and other drama that really only hurts the discussion.

I definitely think upvotes still have a place, but downvotes really don't and don't seem to add much if anything to a discussion.

That is the same opinion I got from reading the old thread that draykhar posted. players missed the upvotes when they were removed, but really didn't care about the downvotes.

  6. Like any of what you just said was positively contributing...

Ehh, take it for what it is, I was responding to his (unfortunately accurate) accusation, and asking for a legitimate post.

I don't see a problem with upvotes or downvotes. Lots of people want them to stay because it's easier to give a vote rather than typing out an opinion/idea that's already been said. If you use them incorrectly then it'll give you a poor reputation. Generally, I think that's enough to put people off from misusing them but if they do get misused it's no big deal.

For an upvote, sure, but threads full of downvotes usually turn confrontational rather than constructive quickly and downvotes are almost always used as a lazy alternative to posting a thought out reply. I see very few constructive uses for downvotes.

  7. That's funny, considering you've  downvoted a few of my contributing posts BeastBruiser.

Yup, trying not to though as that does nothing to help the servers.

The times I have been inclined to use downvotes have been out of laziness when I didn't feel like putting in the effort to think through and post a response.

Anyways, do you have a contributing comment to post that I could maybe upvote? or just more mudslinging?

  8. And we did for the first couple days until several players, staff and non-staff, brought it to our attention. I will be the first one to say that his ban has turned into something way bigger than it needed to be, but it did because of his actions. We were reacting to his actions, nothing more.

Initially after being asked to stop he even apologized and said he would

I'll stop with the birthdays and what not, sorry bout that all. -Forzaire

  9. Just make a chest, use /cmodify crockodile on it, and then /mail send crockodile i left items in chest for you at x y z.

IMHO having the ability to send items without interaction discourages map exploration, player interaction, and transportation development, all of which are very important on PvE.

  10. Was there a specific reason behind adding this plugin to survival? It seems that if users wished to clear land, that it would become impossible with the server adding trees back automatically. It seems it would also have lots of side-affects, making the game play even more difficult.

Otherwise, I really like all the things on that change log. I'm looking forward for 26.

"does not indicate that any of these plugins will be used on Survival".

Currently we are not planning on using Botany for the next rev

  13. 2. Would the map border stop shrinking before the end portal is outside the map? Or is the objective not to kill the dragon, just to survive?

Usually the objective of UHC is to be the last team or player alive (exceptions being seasons 1, 2, and 9 which were race to kill the dragon and season 4a which was still stay alive but with the twist of a central monument to complete instead of killing if the players wanted to)

  14. If we are going to limit the amount of players that can do the event, I would suggest having all players that were interested sign up, and then have 45 players randomly selected and distributed into 15 teams(or however many players/teams is decided on) as last survival rev I led the PvP stats despite never having enchanted a single set of diamond gear. I simply helped some players farm heads for fireworks and ended up on top.
