I've played on the PvE server since rev 1, and run my own private server as well. I don't play with mods, nor would I consider cheating on any server. I understand the general rules for diamond generation (one node per chunk, best layer choice) (see this reddit post I created from 2 years ago. http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/gk9tw/mineralogical_survey_results_looking_for_diamond/ ) and as such can get lucky by following some simple rules, but I do not use mods or maps or any aid to find them. I have not used a method like this on mcpublic servers, nor have I actually done this for 2 years. I am a productive member of the mcpublic community, and have always been in good standing with the other users and the admin staff. Thanks for your consideration, and I hope to be allowed back soon! I do not know where any ores are located until I have mined the blocks hiding them, as anyone else does. I am not a wealthy individual in the server, and my history will clearly show I have no advantage over other players. I have read each version of the rules throughout the revs and fully understand, support and abide by them as an original member of the first reddit mcpublic server. I have never cheated on any nerd.nu server. I understand that these examples look suspicious, but my playstyle is informed by 2.5+ years playing minecraft as an adult programmer with a background in geology and a mind for probabilities. This is an unfortunate situation, and I understand you're in an untenable position and I cannot assuage your suspicions. But I will attest to everything I hold dear that I did not, have not, will not ever cheat. I think the ban was unfair to me as I am not exploiting, but I understand the situation. I think any continuation of the ban at this point would be misguided and in poor service to an upstanding community member. Your specific example, and my answer to 'Any explanation for happening upon these?' was simply that my girlfriend and I were mining specifically for diamond, using random drift mines. We were almost done after finding little useful ore (and ready to quit for the night) when I randomly decided to start a new tunnel while waiting for her to return from another. Nothing more than that, simply, my choice of where to dig was random, and surprised both of us with a diamond. Suspicious, sure. Legit? Definitely. I beg clemency, because I didn't do anything wrong. Please consider the length of time I have been active on the server, my diamond-to-block ratio, and the total number of diamonds I have mined -- well under half a stack. Trooprm32 Posted February 15, 2014 Report Share Posted February 15, 2014 Most of your mining tunnels were systematic, but the examples I have brought forward have strayed from that style, for no reason, and hitting a valuable ore. You were not just lucky once, but on 3 separate occasions, which in the grand total of how much you have mined, is quite a bit. As for the "ore algorithms", this map is completely custom and all the ores are not where they're supposed to be. After doing some arms reach tunnels, you decide to go further here for the diamond. And here for the gold, under lava. We do not take player activity length into consideration when banning for this, everyone is considered the same if they xray. I have had others look into this aswell, and they have agreed with my judgement on this matter. The inconsistencies do not make any sense, and after getting lucky too many times, it resulted in this ban.
