mattman00000
As I do not know how widespread knowledge of the relevant exploits is, I'll go ahead and disappoint any curious parties who happen upon this post by not revealing the specifics of the exploits. The sequence of events, as I understand them, follows. A player, hereafter identified as Player1, started to discuss finding a duplication glitch. My logs, based on US Central Time, indicate 2014-04-05 12:25:45:296 [CHAT] <Player1> uhhhh 2014-04-05 12:25:48:350 [CHAT] <Player1> found a bug 2014-04-05 12:25:55:649 [CHAT] <mattman00000> silverfish? 2014-04-05 12:25:56:598 [CHAT] <T*********> like a silverfish/ 2014-04-05 12:25:58:654 [CHAT] <Player1> nope 2014-04-05 12:26:01:446 [CHAT] <F************> st-stick your dick in it 2014-04-05 12:26:07:301 [CHAT] <Player1> [item redacted] dupe 2014-04-05 12:28:33:353 [iNFO] [CHAT] Player1 joined the game. 2014-04-05 12:28:36:552 [iNFO] [CHAT] <Player1> here 2014-04-05 12:28:45:654 [iNFO] [CHAT] <Player1> still 13 [item redacted] by me, not 10 After satisfying myself that it was most likely a bona fide glitch, I then attempted to investigate the possible glitch via chat. Requests for additional information via chat were futile, to say the least 2014-04-05 12:30:04:951 [CHAT] <Player1> mattman fakoo, I won't tell you 2014-04-05 12:30:09:145 [CHAT] <Player1> =P I did reach a reasonable compromise 2014-04-05 12:31:15:895 [CHAT] <Player1> matt, it's a specific setup, I bet mods can logblock for it 2014-04-05 12:31:29:248 [CHAT] <Player1> well if you come to me I can't [f]orbid you watching... On or about 2014-04-05 12:41:56:442 Player1 commenced a demonstration of one possible method of implementing the exploit. This demonstration convinced me beyond any reasonable doubt that the exploit is real. Immediately, I couldn't keep myself from conceiving a possible way to automate the process, almost as a reflex. Once I had a design in mind, I realized it wouldn't be terribly useful except for testing and demonstration purposes. The following evening, at or about 2014-04-06 21:45:42:901, following a successful test, I informed a friend who is also a moderator, hereafter identified as Moderator1. I do not have logs as the discussion took place in mumble. In both instances, I constructed the automatic design I conceived rather than the original method shown. In hindsight, I recognize that an automated method most likely seemed to imply an intent to make use of it frequently. I apologize for any confusion, and recognize in hindsight that I should have followed up with an admin. Honestly, it completely slipped my mind until this ban. I take full responsibility for my actions, and I affirm that in the future, I shall endeavor to follow up with admins about such exploits, in the event that I find myself having knowledge of them again. I know that it's predictable that anyone who finds themselves facing this forum would deny malicious intent, but I hope I can persuade you that I do not have any desire to benefit from duplication exploits, and that I never have and never will. If it's adequate reparation, I'd be happy to point an admin in the direction of my chests that contain items of the type involved in this duplication glitch, as well as chests containing precursor material. I'm almost as sorry for the long wall of text as I am for the original offense, but duplication is kind of a big deal to me. I'd like very much to repair my reputation as best as I can. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for all that you do to maintain minecraft servers of the highest integrity. EDIT: Almost forgot: I, mattman00000, do hereby affirm that I have read the server rules, and that I shall continue to do everything I can to follow them to the best of my ability. tompreuss
Hi mattman00000, You've admitted to taking advantage of an item duplication glitch, but say that your intent was not malicious. know that it's predictable that anyone who finds themselves facing this forum would deny malicious intent, but I hope I can persuade you that I do not have any desire to benefit from duplication exploits, and that I never have and never will. If it's adequate reparation, I'd be happy to point an admin in the direction of my chests that contain items of the type involved in this duplication glitch, as well as chests containing precursor material. The sheer number of items duplicated and also your use of them afterward plainly demonstrated to myself and the other padmins that your intent was indeed malicious (and quite clearly against the rules of our server), and despite your claim to the contrary I stand by this assessment. I'd also call using items that you've gained through a duplication glitch benefiting from that glitch. You're banned for two weeks, and the comparators you gained by exploiting the glitch have been removed from your chest and the map. Please read nerd.nu/rules and open a new appeal on or after 2014-04-25 saying that you have done so and agree to abide by them from that moment forward to be unbanned.
