  1. Of course, we have no idea how hot the mind-control chemtrails burn. Maybe they could melt steel beams? https://xkcd.com/966/
  2. I recognize that it is of course human nature to feel this way, but I feel as though the clearest way to state our intent is the way I've paraphrased it in the past: "Don't use the name for a group of people as an insult, and don't direct insults towards groups of people." There is of course a secondary need to deter Watson trolling ("Your mom is a Player not found." and the like) but I dare say that's subordinate in importance to hate speech deterence. Also, how about a plugin? Not for censorship or automoderation, but maybe it could cancel your chat message the first time you use a word like "gay" and give you a friendly reminder that if you meant it as an insult that that's not allowed, followed by instructions to retry your chat message if insult wasn't your intent. And maybe something to suggest and/or enforce abstinence from the use of racial slurs. Also, as much as I don't think it's appropriate to ban them outright, maybe something to let people know that "parsimonious" and "bundle of sticks" are strongly preferred terms for what they are than, well, other archaic terms that I myself have been banned for using.
  3. I, mattman00000, do hereby affirm under penalty of banishment that I have read the rules at nerd.nu/rules. Furthermore, I do hereby agree to continue abiding by them as I consistently have. That said, the aforementioned rules page does not prescribe a proper process to follow if one learns of a duplication exploit. With respect, I would like to request that this omission be rectified post haste, so that no other unfortunate players find themselves in my predicament. As I believe the parameters of my ban have been satisfied, I now humbly petition for my ban to be revoked. I am deeply grateful for the selfless service that all of the moderators and administrators provide for this great community, and I look forward to once again helping out in any way possible.
  4. As I do not know how widespread knowledge of the relevant exploits is, I'll go ahead and disappoint any curious parties who happen upon this post by not revealing the specifics of the exploits. The sequence of events, as I understand them, follows. A player, hereafter identified as Player1, started to discuss finding a duplication glitch. My logs, based on US Central Time, indicate After satisfying myself that it was most likely a bona fide glitch, I then attempted to investigate the possible glitch via chat. Requests for additional information via chat were futile, to say the least I did reach a reasonable compromise On or about 2014-04-05 12:41:56:442 Player1 commenced a demonstration of one possible method of implementing the exploit. This demonstration convinced me beyond any reasonable doubt that the exploit is real. Immediately, I couldn't keep myself from conceiving a possible way to automate the process, almost as a reflex. Once I had a design in mind, I realized it wouldn't be terribly useful except for testing and demonstration purposes. The following evening, at or about 2014-04-06 21:45:42:901, following a successful test, I informed a friend who is also a moderator, hereafter identified as Moderator1. I do not have logs as the discussion took place in mumble. In both instances, I constructed the automatic design I conceived rather than the original method shown. In hindsight, I recognize that an automated method most likely seemed to imply an intent to make use of it frequently. I apologize for any confusion, and recognize in hindsight that I should have followed up with an admin. Honestly, it completely slipped my mind until this ban. I take full responsibility for my actions, and I affirm that in the future, I shall endeavor to follow up with admins about such exploits, in the event that I find myself having knowledge of them again. I know that it's predictable that anyone who finds themselves facing this forum would deny malicious intent, but I hope I can persuade you that I do not have any desire to benefit from duplication exploits, and that I never have and never will. If it's adequate reparation, I'd be happy to point an admin in the direction of my chests that contain items of the type involved in this duplication glitch, as well as chests containing precursor material. I'm almost as sorry for the long wall of text as I am for the original offense, but duplication is kind of a big deal to me. I'd like very much to repair my reputation as best as I can. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for all that you do to maintain minecraft servers of the highest integrity. EDIT: Almost forgot: I, mattman00000, do hereby affirm that I have read the server rules, and that I shall continue to do everything I can to follow them to the best of my ability.
  5. PvE: Survival: Creative: Event: Chaos: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pygmalion_effect http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golem_effect I troll not because I choose to; instead, I troll because I am chosen to. EDIT: forgot to mention that I'll try some better icon ideas later EDIT2: edited to add the aforementioned better icon ideas. Everyone can feel free to adapt the ideas, they didn't come out as well as I had hoped, but I am not sure that they are not the best I could pull off.
  6. Build has three states, "none" "allow" and "deny". default is "none" which makes it so only members and owners can build. "allow" means anyone can build, for like public farms and stuff. "deny" means not even the region members/owners can build.
  7. A while back, I discussed the idea of letting region owners have the ability to change the build flag in their region -- which would allow you to open up a region to everyone, or close it from even yourself, rather simply. All of the admins I talked to were ok with it, and so I'm posting here to make it happen. Obviously, and questions or concerns are welcome. Technical implementation suggestions follow: add the perms worldguard.region.flag.regions.own.* and worldguard.region.flag.flags.build.* to group default, and educate playerbase about /region flag command or commandhelper alias, eg /rgbuild $region [$state=none] = if(array_contains(sk_region_info($region, pworld())[1],player()), if(array_contains_ic(array('none','allow','deny'),$state), sk_region_flag(pworld(), $region, build, if(equals($state,'none'),null,$state) ) msg(<some success message here>),msg(<message stating that state must be valid>) ), msg(<message informing user that they must be a owner to perform this>))
  8. lol, I didn't have any curtains handy but the glare was killer.
