c45y
Moderation Guidelines With the re-launch of the old Survival server as the new pvp.nerd.nu there will be a whole bunch of moderation changes. Existing mods will mostly be impacted by having very little to do comparatively. Griefing should be handled as normal. Players obviously here for the sole reason of causing as much destruction as possible should be removed via the /ban command. Players who have griefed in a small bit for the purpose of PvP should be verbally warned via /warn and the grief fixed with logblock as per normal, no more actions need to be taken unless the player has a particularly bad habit of minor grief, then a MCBouncer note can be applied. Hacking should take foremost priority when responding to player requests. A player using hacks for combat should be observed for a time for all the obvious signs of using a hack client, grab a PvP admin if you don't know what these are. Players caught using hacks for PvP should be banned for 12 hours if this is their first offence, and a note added via mcbouncer /tban <player> 43200 Using hacks during combat /addnote <player> timebanned for using hacks during combat Hacking (xray) is a more serious offence, and should be handled as per regular rules. All player edits should be rolled back and the player banned pending appeal. If the xray is not extremely blatant seek another opinion before banning a user and especially before rolling back their edits. Make sure to document the xray as best as possible for the appeal process. /ban <player> xray on PvP [X diamonds, X iron, X spawners] /lbrb <player> /#totemod Harassment is always a hard one to enforce on a pvp server. Camping a player is not harassment, stealing from them isn't, most in-game stabby stabby actions are not harassment. Verbal abuse is, sometimes... A pvp server is naturally an extremely competitive environment, where name calling and sledging shouldn't be considered necessarily bannable. What is bannable is when a player, or group of players continuously harasses a player with vulgar language to the point that player is caused distress and reaches out to staff. When excessive trolling or harassment is noticed action should immediately be taken by staff to notify players they need to stop. This should be done via /warn to the players involved, if they continue their actions after a clear warning then a /mute should be applied to the players involved. Further problems from the same group of players after the mute has been removed should result in a /tban for a period of minutes to hours, depending on severity. We trust your judgement to enforce this, we're not a nanny state, but we also won't condone bullying or harassment. On a similar note, bigotry or racism will result in an immediate /mute of the player, repeat offences should be punished with a /tban. Players who consistently (multiple times a day/week) break this rule should receive a /ban and full appeal process. In the heat of the moment people say the wrong thing sometimes, as long as they understand they need to work towards not doing so in future we don't need to make a big deal out of it. Land Claims will largely be handled by server admins, to claim land players simply need to create a border around it that is clearly defined, this should require little moderator intervention besides the use of /elevate. Don't be a dickThis rule is an old one, but making a return after some time away. This rule is for all those odd things people try to do that we really don't want to have to write a mountain of rules for. A few examples of this include: Sabotaging a server event Constant disrespect of players and staff Dumping lava/water/gravel/sand on a road Misc things admins decide it means Due to the nature of this rule seek an admin before using it. Either a headadmin or pvpadmin should give you an okay before banning a player using this ( Via in-game, mumble text chat or IRC, not mumble voice - there needs to be a clear log of it ). All bans using this rule will be reviewed by the admin team, this is a measure to prevent any unfair applications of the ban to players who are simply not nice people to be around, as opposed to intentionally destructive or abusive. Players will need to be clearly warned to stop whatever actions they are being banned for before this rule is applied. Simply put, don't use it without a big kid around. Timed bansTimed bans are a new addition to this relaunch of pvp.nerd.nu, our motivation is simple, keep players on the server as much as we can, even if they break the odd rule here and there. We should be flexible with our application of punishment to users who play on the servers, an actual /ban should be a last resort to address the behaviour. The documented functionality here will change with the support of timed bans in MCBouncer. An in-game player who is tempbanned will see the following message on their client: Upon trying to log in with an active time ban, the player will see the following in their client: Quick Lookup Table Minor grief for PvP | Warn online player via /warn, fix with Logblock Major griefing | /ban player, appeal process Hacking (PVP) | /warn to remove hacks, /tban if persists Hacking (xray) | /ban, full rollback (confirm with other staff) Harassment | /warn to stop > /mute > /tban > /ban Being a dick | /msg not to be a dick, fetch admin to sass them Edited February 29, 2016 by c45y omg I forgot we have /warn
