  1. I like the map idea too. You could have it so it was the map from opening day before people built so you couldn't see people's hidden bases but could find people and help if you're starting out.
  2. No ender chests is a good idea. :) I have a completely different tangent of an idea here... What if we had forced teams, as in when we log into the rev the first time, we're assigned one of four colors as our team. Then we'd have to fight alongside random strangers on this team and become friends with them to survive. This would serve to strengthen the community. Has this been suggested? I know this may have been suggested, so please bear with me if so. :/
  3. Also, are we the oldest active minecraft server? If so, why don't we exploit that more?
  4. A couple ideas here: Is there an official name for the server? I call it about fifteen names and that can't be good for establishing notoriety and/or drawing users in. I like referring to it as "Nerd.nu" or "Reddit's Nerd.nu" because then new players and friends easily remember the name and connect. Mcpublic might throw people off. Having said that, it would be easier to unify the look and feel of the sites if we can decide on a default name. I love the theme suggested by marting11 above. My one suggestion for improving it may be to make it so multiple renders could be the background by using a tool such as twiback to have the backgrounds cycle automatically occasionally. Then we could use renders like the homepage. This would serve to showcase more server specific renders and constructions while keeping people excited at the prospect of their renders or works potentially headlining some of nerd.nu's webpages. Hopefully it would serve to bring the community closer together. :)

    $pudcoin

We should compile a list of people, groups, cities and marketplaces that are and/or will be using $pudcoin. Perhaps listing these resources' coordinates would help too.

    $pudcoin

I apologize if it appears I was trying to rain on your parade as well. I like the idea of $pudcoins and want to see it succeed. Which leads to my next idea... I might put up a silent auction place for random hard to find items that will use the $pudcoins. That will provide backing for their worth and use. Would anyone else like to do this? Could we make it part of the UMC spawn circle maybe? If it was the official currency of UMC, that would really bring it into mainstream use. Another benefit of it being located there: If we all are farming potatoes a lot, we'd have a lot of extras. We could bring those to spawn when we bid at the auction and leave them for new players to feed themselves with at a dispenser. While we are at it, we could sell and trade chests of materials with $pudcoins, almost like an old school stock market. Remember when Rokku117 was trying to sell two double chests of leather stacks for like three weeks? :D

Everyone hates gravel while mining, why don't they replace a lot of the gravel or all underground gravel with clay? Or, we could develop a plugin that makes poison potato yields finite over a rev and have the drop rate slowly diminish as more are harvested.

This is in reference to bitcoins but it lays out most of the properties that we are looking for... http://thegenesisblock.com/refuting-the-ecb-the-9-characteristics-that-make-bitcoin-money/

I guess my biggest doubt is the fact that it has almost 0 of the properties needed for fiat currencies and we are trying to use it as such. Also, flint would be limited if they had gravel nerfed ALOT. No one likes gravel while mining anyways, make it more rare and we'd have a limited item, which is a property we need. Or limit poison potato drops. Otherwise, we'll all sit around and fantasize about $pudcoins working and they never truly will. If we use forethought and economics, we could make it happen for real.

    PVE megathread

I read that thread before, I've been thinking about currencies on here for a while and checked that out while I was researching. $pudcoins would need to have their drop rate lowered ALOT to work, that is why I suggested flint. I feel like we'd need a central authority to create $pudcoins with some sort of authentication system... serial numbers or the like. We'd need cities that agree to make exchanges with $pudcoins almost exclusively, too. Also, I would volunteer any diamonds I don't need for jukeboxes etc. next rev for the backing of the currency. Perhaps the rarest item of all, the dragon egg, could be donated to help back the currency. Then at the end of the rev, whichever group has the most $pudcoins could place a bid for the egg or something along those lines. These are all just ideas but hopefully they help point us in the right direction.

What if we use flint as currency, or have UMC members issue written books or named items as currency? Potatoes aren't limited enough IMO.
  13. Will slime blocks reduce shock on boats if you hit them? We could use them for corners as bumpers and lane markers in the middle of canals.
  14. I really like the idea of hardness increasing as you get farther away from spawn, that way you feel like you are taming some new frontier. I feel that with a couple of well placed high rise farms, we could negate the hunger effects in some places. Perhaps they'd could be placed near the ends of the cardinal roads, which newbs often follow. Offering steady food supply would be an incentive for people to join your town too. Ample amounts of glowstone this rev makes artificial lighting for mass production plant based food setups a reality as well.
