  1. We don't need the input of people who don't participate in the nerd.nu community we are trying to rebuild here.

As staff have said before, they are trying to expand the community outside of MC, and I believe that I can help. I have a group running (hosted an event last night) and I am constantly participating in discussions and events non-MC related. Don't even try to argue with me there, as I guarantee all points you could make have already been said.

I am part of the community, however, I am not part of the servers.

  2. This thread is about people who write manifestos claiming they are going to quit then come back to troll. This has nothing to do with her or you or anything. This is completely derailed.

D3, I will not engage you again

    you are abrasive and rude.

I never interacted with you nor has anyone badmouthed you to me previously.

You have just proved you are unable to converse with out being adversarial.

All I am doing is answering your questions. I too think that people who claim to hate the community and insult it should leave instead of going dormant. This is a discussion, so of course it will go in different directions. It shows that there are deeper problems than returning players.

    Betcha you will.

Abrasive is a good word for me. Abrasives make things better, but not always in the easiest method.

Well considering that I don't play Minecraft, prefer to stay out of IRC, and use a less-moderated Mumble server, this really is the only place to reach me easily. I dont mind being badmouthed, as it shows who goes to learn who a player is vs who believes anything they are told.

Im not trying to be adversarial but if you don't like me then don't. Plenty people here do, and I try to figure why.

  3. if you can't say the things on your mind with out upsetting people maybe you should just drop it. You complain about this so often this is all I actually know about you. What are these things that need to be said so much that you are being oppressed about?

The answer is that its nothing and its bullshit and we should all drop it.

Frankly I don't know why you made a whole post making this about yourself.

Also Josh, slippery slope is a logical fallacy

Dropping the subject is why so much is argued about here, because when some say drop the subject it really means I will no longer listen to you or your words, and you have no effect on my actions. A lot of trouble has come from this, where people in power want to drop a subject without completing it or without a reason, and because it is unfinished it goes on to create problems and the blame is given to those who wanted to finish the subject.

You question why she complains of not being able to say what she wants and then immediately tell her to drop it. Nice turnaround.

Frankly I dont know why you made this whole thread about yourself, a thinly veiled whiny thread. There is another thread called ANGRY THREAD that could have been a much better area but this was posted in the improper subforum.

Also thanks for letting us know you are very smart, because we can go ahead and tear your posts apart logically if thats the road you want to go down.

  4.  maybe you should stop pissing people off?

a lot of the people who have persistent problems in my view seem to deserve it.

Just be nice and this place doesn't feel like such a prison.

As someone who is also under the ever gazing eye of the banhammer, it is easier than you think to make people mad. Simply posting, or trying to do things can lead people to anger. You say to stop and just be nice, I try to. But when there are several influential people here that tell all their friends I am a bad person, it makes for a bit of a headwind to accomplish things in this so-called "community"

  5. May I just say, we should not be putting CivCraft in such a good light. If you think we have playerbase problems, it pales compared to theirs.

Other than that, one of the main reasons I have seen and had firsthand experience with is indeed the initial land grab, because the same few groups of people push aside the smaller players for their large bases to be built, or simply because an area is desirable and with a rudimentary knowledge of the rules can be easily circumvented to whatever ends they want. The elitism and cronyism of the cities creates a friendly outer shell but the subtext is a terrible future for our server as a whole.

Sorry, didn't mean to ramble about that.

Another 5K would be great, have sponsored sections where a town or group can build and mods can connect.

Revs should never be nebulous. Have a cycle of fifteen weeks, about four months. In week twelve to thirteen ask, is the server still a viable map? Is there enough interest in keeping this? Hold a vote, a five week extension for the cycle, after which the new rev starts. Do not compromise on this cycle. With a firm cycle the questions of Will the rev end soon and How old is the rev will disappear, and a good timeframe is added for events, for large builds, and for staff deadlines.

That's mostly what I have come up with over the time Ive been here, and I hope that nerd lives on.

  6. He cannot, as he is IP banned and banned from every form of communication, including Mumble, IRC and the Servers

He has given me the ability to appeal on his behalf, as he simply wants to talk to friends where they are instead of coming to him. He does not want to talk to staff, but I will for him.

Now that that is out of the way, let me state again.

I appeal on behalf of shoobox, who is unable to appeal in any way due to the unreasonably overarching nature of his ban. He agrees to the rules, and asks to be unbanned.

Original ban was for X-rays, appealable end of december, extended to January 17th due to offensive Mumble comment. As it is well past the original date and his bans are still in place, I appeal for him, as him.

Let's not be unreasonable now, especially with how civil he has been since his ban.

  7. Appealing on behalf of shoobox, who is currently banned from all services. He will be directly relayed these, so communicate to me as if I was him.

Original date was set in December, then was extended for two weeks for inappropriate mumble comments. Final communicated appeal date was set to January 17th.

He has read the rules and simply wishes to be allowed back in.

  8. Will participate if I have the time. Probably will.

My only suggestion is that maybe we could look at the openly developing Don't Starve multiplayer edition for a future event, given the pretty chaotic nature of it, recent general release of dedicated server software, and need for players that aren't just joining for the sake of setting everything on fire. (Though there is at least one Steam mod to control that.)

    isnt it only two player?

  9. it is hostage.

It isn't hostage if it never was yours to begin with! I made the group two weeks ago and anyone could have seen it made, or searched it, or even taken the smallest amount of effort to find it. I publicize the group after the name change and suddenly everyone is mad that I didn't ask permission and I'm holding the group hostage and oh why do trolls do such things etc etc. A new group was made at 5 in the morning, the day AFTER I've said my group is available for takeover after I set it up to full use of available tools.

The only way to get shit done in here is to do it and take heat for it, or by making such a nuisance that action is done. This shouldn't be how it is.

  10. That's a signature, rather than a part of his post. Read carefully :P

no i know about eehee's signature, i was talking about other users who message me calling me toxic and "an endless source of drama" due to my "lowlife nature" and my "rampant desire for seemed importance"

  11. The main thing I see is that my group is more developed (has more people, a full curator page recommending common games we play, etc) while the other group was made this morning.

With my willingness to add staff to the group why has there been such a push to delete it? I realize that I should have asked but asking usually ends up with poorer results, and having organic growth with spirited contributions seems to me much better.

Also quick note, I've been recently informed of my twatworthiness from some, and thus ask them if I hated this community as much as you say I do, why would I be willing to do all this?

  12. pyr0 i tried that back in november and all that happened was some halfhearted "discussion" and some minor heartbeat in the group, mostly resulting in a few low-activity events and a shuffling of inactive staff on the group

  13. Hahaha. Sorry, but this whole thing is laughable. You say "why don't you just use what exists and go with it" and yet, instead of going and saying, hey... let's try and improve the existing steam group, let's create a new one... that'll show 'em. Instead you could have tried garnering interest in the group that already existed.

What would have made more sense would have been a "hey, was there any plans on changing the group on Steam? You can't change the name so a new group would have to be created if you wanted to change the name. If staff aren't going to do this would you mind if I took lead on it?"

This here to me sounds like a hostage thing. "Once I have received blah, then I will hand it over."

Right at the bottom of the announcement of saying that we are changing names, it was said "hey, we would like community contributions for a new logo". And yes, I have said that we should expand beyond MC and I also asked the community what other games they would like to see us run.

First two points: Ive tried. I tried talking to admins and general staff, but the only thing that happened were four no-interest events over the course of three months, and a small shuffling of staff on the group.

Hostage thing? I get the ball rolling then give you the ball. Whether you bring the ball to a stop as youve done before is your choice.

Expanding beyond MC needs a place to start and having a group exist with no activity make a poor place to start.

  14. 1) Group should be owned by deaygo and heads

    2) staff who plan on being active and doing stuff there should be added to staff

    3) if there is still little activity, we look at options (swiftly) to change that, i.e. adding more steam-based staff to run the events

It is very simple and there is no reason to over-complicate it. Whether we should be making everyone move over from the original steam group to a new one for little to no reason seems odd, but that's what has been decided.

Ill give them the group, happily.

There's always a difference between those who plan on activity and those who do.

Gotta watch out for the too many cooks scenario, too many staff with few events is bad
