  1. In light of the recent events, mostly regarding the position TheAcademician has decided to take. It got me thinking, especially since people have been longing for a change, why don't we implement Server Tech Admins?

It's clear that players would like their server admins to spend a little more time in-game, and being a more solid part of the community, but when it comes down to it, things need to get done. While the server admins are busy resolving player disputes and organising events, talking with players, etc, the server techs can be busy working on new plugins or fixing bugs, whatever it is techs do when it comes to doing things for a specific server.

Doing so would make it easier for each server to run on it's own, because it would let those in charge focus on what needs to be done that way the Nerd tech admins can work on bigger things that apply to all the servers, for example, Nerd techs can work on optimising the newest version of KitchenSink, meanwhile the Creative techs work on the latest version of WorldEdit.

One of the things that we recently discussed was the desire for more active admins, and I believe that this would definitely help that problem. The players that do dedicate a lot of their time to moderating and being a part of the server can be the server admins meanwhile working in tandem with the ones in the background that want to help out by giving us more fun things to work with.

Of course doing so would be a big undertaking and not one that would happen overnight, but I am certain that implementing it would help nerd take a step in the right direction.

  2. Most of the players that were considered for admin (as I think is what you're addressing) tend to be immature to each other because that's how we've been conditioned on survival. Almost 95% of what we say are joking around with each other. But if you directly talked to any of our staff in game, we should show signs of professionalism and maturity to answer any questions or help in ways we can.

Players like us understand time and place, we're playing a game, so we tend to be silly and over the top, but outside of that or even in other games, we can easily turn off that switch and get serious about things. There's a reason those players are on staff to begin with, if they were truly immature they wouldn't be staff members.

  3. Sorry, not sure this has been up not read through all the comments but I'd like to have a spleef arena warp at the start of the revision same goes for a pvp arena, they would be temporary until someone builds a better one but then you can instantly start things like spleef tournaments and pvp tournaments. Same goes for 10 minute build contest arenas.

Every single C revision that Nevastop has been here for, has had a fully fleshed out, incredibly detailed Spleef arena and none of them are ever used. And the recent ones have taken so long due to the lack of help when building it.

  4. We are not going to prohibit CTA or any other type of build because it looks bad or gets in the way of future builds. If you have issues with something that someone is building, you need to bring that up with person making it.

    Wow, dick move.

If you read Walm's post, they said "in it's current form" station their opinion that the way it's being built right now is obtrusive and ruins the terrain. And in my post, I state that the CTA ought to move out of the way of builds, unlike most builds the CTA has always been kind of a public, and malleable project. Of course there's someone in charge but because it spans the majority of the server. And as far as I know ADMINS (such as yourself) are in charge of land disputes. So it would be in your best interest to be less concrete about such topics.

  5. It'd be nice to encourage newcomers to take a welcoming survey that covers our bases and extracts a little out of them in efforts to improve. The only problem with surveys is that many other servers use surveys to provide incentives to players which is something we shy away from. How about a server announcement that says whether or not said player had taken the survey so other can thank/congratulate them for it? That way they'll feel that much more welcomed.

  6. Why doesn't the Other CTA just completely claim a specific level underground? I'm sure it would only need at most 6 blocks in height to build all the necessary components. And since it's so easy to dig underground nowadays especially with worldedit, accommodating areas for builds that do want to head underground would be as easy as 'contracting' (I'll leave that autocorrection as is.) whoever is in charge of it. As for figuring out whoever is in charge of it is a different story because last I checked there were 3 people in charge of the CTA and none of them were working together.

  7. I agree wholeheartedly, aside from the subreddit, we don't officially have any serious affiliation with Reddit. Even more so now that policy changes are quite opposing to the website itself. I feel that it is definitely time to drop Reddit and re-brand ourselves independently.

Doing so would be a great step in the right direction to becoming a true community that spans across different games. And it would give us the freedom to use other websites aside from Reddit to attract more players. That being said we won't be erasing our history with Reddit, because it is how we began. But we'd be moving beyond it.

Obviously, there's something about Nerd that keeps us here despite the constant antagonising, a lot of us have made friends here and shared plenty of laughs, and as Minecraft becomes more and more irrelevant to many of us, we don't want that sense of community to go away with it.

  8. Is it really trolling to ask you to have a detailed idea?

That's not what this thread is about, and there have been plenty of ideas that were ready to be wrought out and planned, but any attempts at doing so is pointless if the ones in charge of the server don't even see eye to eye with the playerbase that's presenting these ideas. The S players want an active admin that actually plays and cares about S so that they can present their ideas to them and they can actually get started on making them realities instead of journals and documents.

Also as far as I can tell you don't even play S yourself and when you do it's to complain about how mean everyone is being to you. I also don't play S but I'm friends with enough players from that server to want to help them in their efforts to improve their server. If you aren't here to be productive then kindly request that you remove yourself from the discussion.
