  1. The PvE (p.nerd.nu) (Player versus Environment) server allows players to battle the environment and mobs while working with, instead of against, other players. The emphasis is usually on collaborative building and friendly competition. The entire map is PvE, without player-on-player damage, with limited exceptions for a few PvP-enabled arenas. PvE is known for its large, active, and friendly community. The map is currently 5000x5000 featuring  a vanilla-ish terrain with terrain control used for underground/ores

    I didn't use terrain control for undergroud/ores this revision, we could probably leave out that bit entirely.

  2. Also I recently looked at the PVE map online and all of my building have been taken down, I BEG of you to do a roll back or anything to bring them back in that area (co-ord's x:-488 z:633) I spent so much time building them and i mean hours on hours, you can clear all my items but just please if it is possible bring back my buildings!

    When a player xrays on our server all of their edits and items are removed. We have a specific sign dealing with this in our rules at spawn that you would have walked past when you joined.

    ijEOTDzl.png

    This rule is designed to be extremely punitive for you and those that you work with. If you read that sign, it also should have acted as a deterrent. It's also done to remove illegitimately obtained resources from the game, and accordingly, to remove builds that were made from those illegitimate resources, or assisted by the use of tools created from them.

    No, we will not be redoing any of your edits.

    Unbanned.

  3. That said, the aforementioned rules page does not prescribe a proper process to follow if one learns of a duplication exploit.

    That's correct, there is no rule that says you have to report an exploit. There are countless exploits and many ways for people to discover them, and we'd have no way to enforce people not sharing knowledge with staff.

    The rules quite clearly state you are not allowed to use them, and that's what you were banned for.

    With respect, I would like to request that this omission be rectified post haste, so that no other unfortunate players find themselves in my predicament.

    We'll continue to ban cheaters who violate our rules, whether you consider yourself "unfortunate" and the situation a "predicament" has no bearing on this ban or our enforcement of policy in this or any other matter. All that happened was that you were caught and banned for your actions that violated our rules.

    Unbanned.

    Hi dobreira,

    You've been banned for circumventing our WorldGuard plugin to cause damage to another player via pvp.

    You've done this at your own admission in public chat:

    2014-04-20 10:06:05 | <dobreira> Aypop go to the nether

    2014-04-20 10:06:09 | <Aypop> y

    2014-04-20 10:06:13 | <dobreira> just go

    2014-04-20 10:06:37 | <Aypop> hax

    2014-04-20 10:07:33 | <dobreira> Aypop I hit you

    2014-04-20 10:07:38 | Aypop issued server command: /modreq there appears to be an exploit that allows PVP through nether portals. dobreira showed me

    2014-04-20 10:07:38 | New request. Type /check 4276 for more information.

    2014-04-20 10:07:39 | <Aypop> that you did

    2014-04-20 10:07:49 | <erdtZAC> dob hits on you

    2014-04-20 10:07:59 | <Aypop> ye

    2014-04-20 10:08:03 | <Aypop> seems like an exploit

    2014-04-20 10:08:04 | <dobreira> erdt you look pretty today

    2014-04-20 10:08:09 | <dobreira> it is

    2014-04-20 10:08:24 | <dobreira> its not a game exploit

    2014-04-20 10:08:30 | <dobreira> its a plugin exploit

    And I spoke with Aypop later to confirm the details of what occurred. While you did not tell him in advance your plans, he says he had mostly figured you were going to attempt to harm him. However, his consent to participate is still not an allowance for you to break our rules.

    Nor is the fact that you claim to have reported it to buzzie:

    2013-10-06 10:11:41 | Avi_Dangerstein was shot by dobreira

    2013-10-06 10:11:45 | <dobreira> what?

    2013-10-06 10:11:52 | <Avi_Dangerstein> oh man, glitch

    2013-10-06 10:12:22 | <Avi_Dangerstein> my stuff, please

    2013-10-06 10:12:41 | CH: Running original command on player Avi_Dangerstein ----> /modlist

    2013-10-06 10:12:53 | [Avi_Dangerstein -> buzzie71] did you notice I just died by pvp?

    2013-10-06 10:13:02 | [Avi_Dangerstein -> buzzie71] I think we have stumbled into a bug

    2013-10-06 10:13:07 | <dobreira> that was interesting avi

    2013-10-06 10:13:12 | <Avi_Dangerstein> yah

    2013-10-06 10:13:16 | [buzzie71 -> Avi_Dangerstein] I did, though admittedly I thought it was just a doppelganger O.o

    2013-10-06 10:13:32 | [Avi_Dangerstein -> buzzie71] no, it seems I was shot by arrows through a portal

    2013-10-06 10:13:37 | [buzzie71 -> Avi_Dangerstein] oh

    2013-10-06 10:13:40 | [Avi_Dangerstein -> buzzie71] from the nether into the overworld

    2013-10-06 10:14:03 | [buzzie71 -> Avi_Dangerstein] I was aware arrows can go through portals but...killing players through it? :S

    2013-10-06 10:14:12 | [buzzie71 -> Avi_Dangerstein] I'll bring this up with the others

    2013-10-06 10:14:37 | [dobreira -> buzzie71] found a way to kill people on P want me to tell you?

    2013-10-06 10:14:43 | [buzzie71 -> dobreira] I know what it is

    2013-10-06 10:14:53 | [dobreira -> buzzie71] anyway to fix it?

    2013-10-06 10:14:45 | [Avi_Dangerstein -> buzzie71] glad to be the sacrificial lamb!

    2013-10-06 10:14:59 | [buzzie71 -> Avi_Dangerstein] sorry you went through that :S

    At no point during that very brief conversation does buzzie tell you it's acceptable for you to violate our rules.

    As you can see from the lengthy list of prior ban appeals and notes above, this isn't your first time breaking the rules of our servers.

    In your most recent ban appeal, Tharine cautioned you thusly

    Your behaviour on the servers, as well as the Mumble, has continued its slow but steady pace of inappropriate. You push the limit on things far too often, and you need to better recognise these limits and respect them - not try to stand as close as possible whilst remaining within the rules. I feel it inappropriate to issue a lengthy ban for something such as entity spam, but it's very clear that you still have issues respecting the rules we put in place here. Were it my final say, i'd consider this one of your, if not very, last chances at returning to these servers. I'd strongly recommend a several month ban for any incidents you manage to put yourself into in the future. Take this unban and play as though it's your last opportunity to remain a member here.

    Based on the behavior I've seen from you in the time since that unban, I don't feel your attitude and issues repecting our rules have changed at all. Seeing as how you blatently circumvented WorldGuard (even going as far to admit doing so in public chat) while full well knowing that it was against our rules, and taking into consideration all of your prior bans and warnings and the direct warning that Tharine gave you in your last appeal, I'm setting your ban length for one year. Please read nerd.nu/rules and open a new appeal on or after 2015-04-21 saying that you have done so and agree to abide by them from that moment forward to be unbanned.

  5. Thank you kitcatbar.

    Hi toastykitten,

    I banned you for a homophobic personal attack on P.  Immediately after joining the server for the first time you said this:

    This kind of direct attack and homophobic language is never tolerated on our servers.

    Read these comments by Cyotie911 and nerd.nu/rules and post back here saying that you have done so and agree to abide by them from that moment forward to be unbanned.

  6. Hi mattman00000,

    You've admitted to taking advantage of an item duplication glitch, but say that your intent was not malicious.  However, your actions say otherwise.

    First, the full chat logs from the conversation you quote:

    2014-04-05 10:43:09 | <mattman00000> neato

    Note that erdtZAC, instead of taking advantage of the glitch, reports it via a /modreq to a server administrator.  Later on, he, at my instruction, demonstrated it for me twice.  He, before I could tell him to, destroyed the duplicated items in lava.

    Once I had a design in mind, I realized it wouldn't be terribly useful except for testing and demonstration purposes.

    I constructed the automatic design I conceived rather than the original method shown. In hindsight, I recognize that an automated method most likely seemed to imply an intent to make use of it frequently.

    Your "testing and demonstration purposes" exploit of the glitch lasted for seven and a half minutes. It involved you placing 107 comparators:

    I know that it's predictable that anyone who finds themselves facing this forum would deny malicious intent, but I hope I can persuade you that I do not have any desire to benefit from duplication exploits, and that I never have and never will. If it's adequate reparation, I'd be happy to point an admin in the direction of my chests that contain items of the type involved in this duplication glitch, as well as chests containing precursor material.

    The sheer number of items duplicated and also your use of them afterward plainly demonstrated to myself and the other padmins that your intent was indeed malicious (and quite clearly against the rules of our server), and despite your claim to the contrary I stand by this assessment. I'd also call using items that you've gained through a duplication glitch benefiting from that glitch.

    You're banned for two weeks, and the comparators you gained by exploiting the glitch have been removed from your chest and the map. Please read nerd.nu/rules and open a new appeal on or after 2014-04-25 saying that you have done so and agree to abide by them from that moment forward to be unbanned.

  10. The post I linked from nearly 4 months ago mentions mark4 was "finally getting code written". Haven't seen it in the time since though, even though "first alphas" were mentioned as tenative December/January but I'm not sure if those were intended to be public anyway.

    Might we want to ping barney about it?

  11. Yeah, we actually had the mark2 IRC relay tested and working, on a nerd.nu hosted IRC server even.  Worked pretty well, had some nice features, and I know smiler and slide spent some time getting the config going for colors, formatting, and the like.

    mark2 is EOL though, so I'm not sure how much we should be investing into it. I'd hate to get it all set up and working but then have to take it down a few weeks or months later once we have to use something else.

  13. On Praha Way's grinder in rev 12 (after we updated to 1.7 and this became an issue) I adjusted the killing area for the skeletons so they could no longer "see" a player as they were grinding and this eliminated the arrows they fired into the wall.  See if you can make a modification to the grinder that accomplishes this.

    I've also poked the tech admins regarding the possibility of increasing the frequency of our removal of arrows (see nerdbugs:186) to help with the issue.

    You were warned once

    2014-02-23 16:04:31 | [buzzie71 -> ThunderBoy262] hey, please remember that you must replant crops you harvest from other
    2014-02-23 16:04:43 | [buzzie71 -> ThunderBoy262] players' farms!

    and then twice

    2014-02-23 16:11:19 | CH: Running original command on player buzzie71 ----> /mail send ThunderBoy262 If you take crops planted by someone else, you must replant them. -- Moderator
    2014-02-23 16:11:19 | CH: Running original command on player buzzie71 ----> /mail send ThunderBoy262 That includes: potatoes, carrots, nether warts, sugar cane and cocoa. -- Moderator

    You later returned to the farm, harvested more crops, and failed to replant again.

    You were warned a third time, and then banned

    2014-02-23 16:46:35 | [tompreuss -> ThunderBoy262] hello, I have some questions for you
    2014-02-23 16:46:52 | [tompreuss -> ThunderBoy262] you can respond to my messages by typing /r <your reply>
    2014-02-23 16:47:21 | [tompreuss -> ThunderBoy262] you've twice griefed the farms at spawn without replanting
    2014-02-23 16:47:38 | [tompreuss -> ThunderBoy262] dispite being warned by many players in global chat that you needed to replant
    2014-02-23 16:47:46 | [tompreuss -> ThunderBoy262] and twice by a moderator
    2014-02-23 16:48:55 | [tompreuss -> ThunderBoy262] if you don't reply I'm going to have to ban you so that we can have a dialog, in a ban appeal

    2014-02-23 16:50:23 | CH: Running original command on player tompreuss ----> /ban thunderboy262 crop grief on P after repeated warnings
    2014-02-23 16:50:23 | ThunderBoy262 left the game.

    As you can see from my messages, I got the sense that you didn't know how to communicate in game, which brings us here to this ban appeal.

    You need to replant everything that you harvest from public farms.  I'd also suggest you learn how to listen to others and learn how to communicate with other players in game.

    Please read nerd.nu/rules and reply to this thread stating that you have done so and agree to abide by them from that moment forward to be unbanned.
