I still like to use the jail, especially when it comes to hackers and griefers. Put them in there for a few minutes and speak to them ensuring they know what they did wrong and why it isn't allowed. Not speaking down to them or anything, just be friendly and helpful and they're more likely to stop and continue playing. Jail is for when they're doing physical things that you want them to stop without removing them from the server.
I think we need to get into the habit of muting players, also. There've been numerous bans recently that could've been sorted out by muting a player, for verbal things like harassment or excessive chat spam. I believe players can still message whilst muted so you can speak to them quickly and they shouldn't continue.
They're both good steps to use before kicks/bans because the player never leaves the server, if they get kicked they'll be more inclined to stay off and not return.
I like the idea of using a timed jail to punish people, but every time I'm tried muting someone, they've just continued spamming using /me. So, at the very least, /me needs to be disabled for muted players.

Something that would be really cool, but probably prohibitively difficult, would be to get "everybody" in one spot for a mass group photo. I mean, try to get all the old people who don't play anymore to come on, at least for a little while to celebrate the anniversary. Bring back all the old mods who left, etc. That would be amazing to see, though I don't know if one server could even handle it. I doubt we could get "everyone", but as many current and former players at once would be really cool.

I would recommend that a city should be granted portality if they are a great benefit to the server and the community sees that that particular city should get a portal.
But who decides that?

On a somewhat related note, would it be possible to implement a way to see date and time of notes in-game, without having to go to the MCBouncer website?

Spleef Club III will take place tonight at 7:30 pm EST in Port 80. As usual, the entry fee is 5 iron blocks, payable to either myself or to TheRandomnatrix.
We're shooting for 16 players this time around, so please try to arrive and pay around 7 EST so we can get organized.
You can sign up with a partner, or as a free agent. Before play begins those without partners will be randomly assigned one.

I don't. I feel they got their share of pomp and circumstance when they were first modded.
Except that in some circumstances, a lot of the people who were around when they were first modded might not even be around anymore, so people will by and large have no idea who these people are.

This should ultimately be a no. Unless I'm mistaken the auto clicker will allow someone to literally walk away and have your client fish.
You can tape your mouse button down with duct tape and do the same thing.
The reason that this shouldn't be allowed is that not everyone will have access for it, or not be smart enough to figure out how to get it to work. Therefore it shouldn't be allowed for anyone.
One could say the same about any client mod, including Optifine, Rei's, Macro mods, bUpload, etc. By your logic they shouldn't be allowed either because people "might" not be able to figure out how to get them.

As you stated, you were banned for griefing a build on P on December 9. For this amount of grief, I normally would ban for 1-3 weeks, and as that amount of time has already passed, I'll go ahead and unban you.
Please continue to keep the rules in mind, especially as they pertain to griefing. A note will be added to your username about this ban, so we'll know in case this happens again.

Hi! Thanks for appealing.
You were banned for destroying and stealing another player's bookshelves and enchanting table, not once, but twice. You received a warning from Totemo earlier the same day for doing it, but did it again regardless.
I'm going to set the ban length for 1 week from the time of the ban, so please make a new appeal on Dec. 30 to be unbanned. In the meantime, read over the rules at http://nerd.nu/rules, and be sure to follow them in the future.

Additionally it might be fun to have another contest where we make large blocks of a stone and the players have to make the coolest thing by just breaking the blocks not adding anything to them.

I really enjoyed the timed 10-minute build contest on C a while back where we had 10 minutes to build to a theme. I'd love to do one of those again.
