    Well for youtube, I'd like to see trailers or something like it for future revs of servers and events. They're not difficult to make, and more advertising is never a bad thing.

     

    As for the tag, switch your post actually is what inspired my mentioning of it. I love the idea of some kind of tag, I think its something that helps in a community that spreads across different games. It's just a cool thing that I'll probably start doing for smash at least

     

    As for teams, I was thinking more of what switch said. Competitive gaming teams are cool (at least to me) and would add a level of competition in the community with players who play certain games (like CS:GO and TF2).

     

    Sorry for basically dropping this post, I'll be more up to date with it in the future if there's more responses

     

    Maybe have the main channel host player made series or episodes?

    This may be a good time to bring up something I know I've suggested in the past, but probably not gotten a word of it to Sadmins... It is in some aspects similar to what Difficult1 said here,  NPCs role playing as players... Essentially, the server will have a few bot players, that will walk around, find materials to make weapons and food, and attack players who are in their line of sight, we could give it a kill cooldown too so the bots don't get too smart and start spawn camping people. 

     

     

    Maybe not walking around collecting (farming small areas probably). But maybe a more effective way of having NPC's like that would be caravans or patrols along roads you could ambush for supplies?

     

    Now, I'm sure theres a way to do it with NPC's and I'm sure it would be a hell of a lot easier to make a modded server for this, but I'm worried modded servers would be no bueno because people won't really go through the time of getting a modpack just for a server with all the other options. (yes I'm aware modpacks are extremely popular and have communities of their own)

    In some forms yes. but primarily no. global RP isn't allowed just like the other servers. Of course every town has their little thing, but its all just for shits n giggles really, no hardcore RP

    yea but its on its last rev, so this is a replacement idea rather then just using the resources for P and C. Also the execution on S wasn't all that great.

     

     

     

     

    It would actually be a great idea to add quest NPC's to the PVE Server.

     

     

     Kind of hard to get people to accept such a changes such as that. Theres always a few people who will complain if you added any sort of structure.

     

    I personally would love to have static standing NPC's with one or two dialogs when you enter a set proximity. Make towns a little more busy then they normally are :D

     

    For quests thats not probably gunna happen. Any reward given is just cheating on PVE and farmable. 

     

     

     

    Depends. If you take ideas from people who have no intention to play, that may lead to a high signal-to-noise ratio, which will lead to a thread like this being created in the future.

     

     

    Who cares, if they have good ideas let them share, its a forum after all. Also half the people on the forums coming up with decent ideas i never see on the servers.

  4. I also find it crazy that the post that seems to me to spell the end of survival has what, 13 comments? A few more on the subreddit? This server attracted hundreds of people on a good night, and must have gone through a hundred mods/admins through its history. What a pity it ends like this, with a few stragglers wishing it goodbye. In retrospect my suggestion probably wouldn't work unless some PVE players had a good idea for a PVP server.

     

    I love the idea of a role play server, people act out their roles in their own little towns, some form of NPCs maybe? 

     

    PVP could come from warring factions in this RP world. Probably no grief (unless a system to breach castle walls was made) 

     

    I think it would be very interesting to have players mold their own world.

     

    I can't think of much atm, but I'm sure with the combined ideas of the community it could turn out to be a unique server that sets us apart from any other community.

  5. Boatjacking is a good skill  to have when being chased on the high seas :O

     

    EDIT: Actually I don't think I did boatjacking when being chased that time, but there was one night that I did that a lot.  Was, um...good.  Very useful for escaping.

    Flags not by base

    Round 3 with the flags near the base but not on the same island was a good idea. Again with the above "lessen gaps" you allow teams to have to build some bridges to get to the flags easier to defend as part of their plan. This also keeps

    the objective about supporting these 2 remote bases without your main base being camped.

     

     

    Only issue with this is it ruins the defense aspect, making it more of a race then encouraging coordinated assaults.

  7. I spent my time during the event primarily having fun by watching people (as I'd become too familiar with the map during planning and preparation). I tried to teleport to everyone online while I was taking screenshots and stayed with some people if something interesting was happening. A picture tells a 1000 words, so I'll let you make up your own mind on what was happening at the time these were taken. The first batch of screenshots were from the 1st round, and the second batch were from the 2nd round (I've added an image in between these two batches to distinguish them from each other.

  8. CTF was amazing! Best one we have had in a while! <3

     

     

    Beacons used as forward spawns, people can place beacons as forward spawn points and the beam gives its position away so it needs to be defended.

     

    make the strength buff strength 1 only, too OP otherwise.

     

    Next map i would like to see a river that flows directly red base from blue base. With some difficult terrain to make combat focused near the river.

     

    Maybe one long round with auto balance every 12 hours?

     

    Set up period. 1-3 hour of set up before fighting begins. Maybe even spawn players without walls around them? Time to get defenses rolling without having to focus on attacking.

     

    Harder to break blocks - maybe make player placed blocks take much longer to break then normal. It would encourage coordinated attacks and long lasting offensives. 

     

    Maximum CTF. For the 3 or so days CTF runs, have the CTF portion online during a mainstream time to prevent night capping. Makes the game fair for people who are not insomniacs like me and zburdsal. When CTF is down for the night, mini games. *also to keep people entertained throw in some player made games for fun (no prizes)

     

    Higher XP plump and Higher wool output from sheep 

     

    TNT - tnt is enabled but with one difference. It cannot be placed within 10 blocks of the flag or base. It must be LAUNCHED at a distance with the use of cannons. Possible make the effect on wool less damaging then normal so it takes longer to crack away at defended areas.

     

     

    This map for CTF was the best map ever. but maybe next time 1/4th smaller :D

  9. So my town has quite a few trapdoors that decorate street lamps, every so often people come through and open them all making it look really ugly. Would it be possible to modreq for them to be locked so a mod/admin can determine that they do not block any entrances/ are not lwc abuse.

    I'm a person, not a billboard.

     

    The purpose of the merchandise is to raise money through community members buying the apparel... so if I wear the T-shirt, I've paid for it and contributed to the campaign. I don't want to be a walking advertisement.

     

     

    Well we absolutely could do that, it would be easy too. I was confused at the contradiction (bolded) of wanting to fundraise/wear it for yourself to enjoy or advertise.

    Since C, and S rarely go over 50 players, you can do the 60 player plan for $15 a month.

     

    So Lets break down some costs.

     

    PvE: $85 per month (if you do the 400 player capacity)

    C: $15 a month (60 Player Capacity)

    S: $15 a month (60 player capacity)

    Lobby: $36 a month (if you do the 144 player capacity)

     

    So totaling that up comes down to $151 a month in expenses.

     

     

    How would this effect new revs, because every time a new revision happens hundreds of people are on for a week or so.

     

    Would it be possible to make the server say 400 people max for the 2-3 weeks it takes to calm down to regular sizes and just reduce hosting too the normal 60 or so.

     

    As far as hosting servers go I'm about the last source for knowledge on it, but hey, theres my 2 cents
