Xray to find ores, caves, dungeons, anything --- or nothing at all is still xray. Whether or not you were successful in finding what you were looking for is out of the question.

I have found countless amount of xray attempts using the Glowstone and Fences trick, which I do not have the time to document every one of them. So I'll give you a few examples and an overview of an area.

The setup as shown in various places;

A dungeon that was convienently found after using the xray trick.

And a couple ore deposits that were dug to directly;

Lastly the overview of where a great deal of this was done, with each Glowstone placement being marked between vectors.

In defense of the images describing the usage of glowstone & fence…

The term xray as outlined within the Rules (http://www.redditpublic.com/wiki/Rules), can be referenced in two areas, one under Universal & the other under Survival.  Both references speak of it along side ore-detection & under the detailed universal rules xray was put in the context of players using modifications as modifications is the subject of the bullet point where the xray term is first used.

The only other mention of the xray term is under the Survival specific rules which did not further define or put xray in any other context and is supposed to be specific to the rules regarding the behavior on the Survival related servers which is not the server in which this behavior has occurred on.

Because of how xray is outlined in the rules any reader could and should really only be under the impression that use of modifications or ore-detection are the requirement to be in offense as these are the only specific details associated with this term.

In defense of the images described as directly mining ore…

The images are related to branch mining as you can clearly see the same 3 high tunnel being dug towards the blue diamond ore, one would think that if someone was to go directly for diamond ore or any other type of ore that they would logically only dig a 2 high tunnel or begin to follow a pattern of only digging from one ore deposit to the next as that is the minimal requirement to advance around the game's collision detections.  Repetition of the same 3 high tunnel is clearly following the same mining pattern as someone might do while mining in their individual play style or patterns.  There is no evidence in these images that shows a mining pattern related to greedy or direct advancement towards ore related resources.

Since no concrete evidence of ore-detection or modifications has been presented one should conclude that there has been no offense regarding the Rules (http://www.redditpublic.com/wiki/Rules).

The rules state that Xraying is Not allowed. At spawn and on the wiki.

No xray/ore-detection doesn't mean "Xraying is disallowed only for ore detection". It means any xray, or ore-detection methods used shall count towards an xray ban. This has always been the case, and rule lawyering won't get you anywhere in this matter.

You are banned for one month. Please appeal on Nov. 9th to be unbanned.
