  1. Well, that covers the first part, certainly. What about the rest?

Things running on the box from memory

    1. p.nerd.nu
    2. c.nerd.nu
    3. s.nerd.nu
    4. nginx / php-fastcgi
    5. sshd
    6. crond

Thats about it. One OS, one physical server

Each server lives on the SSD, with all its logs heading off to a larger SATA disk.

Anything extra that was/could cause CPU usage was looked at, and likely killed. At this stage a CPU upgrade or Minecraft to get some smarts and understand how to do more than hog one single core until its maxed then fall over are our options.

CPU upgrade is very expensive from memory

Minecraft threading is slowly getting there, and will hopefully improve in the future.

Anyway, I've sidetracked this thread enough. Sounds like a firm No to tekkit, close?

  2. Ram is not the issue, we are cpu bound.

Tekkit is cpu intensive, partly because of all the cool things you talk about ( that would have to be disabled due to the ability to blow holes in the map hundreds of blocks wide )

Lets get the 3 we have working.

  3. Bump again. I hate to say I enjoy something about P but the pvp is very...consensual

Both players know what they are getting into, I would like this system much more than the current hopper dancefloor setup

While this doesn't stop any of the behavior I dislike from S, it certainly provides a more formal fighting system should people choose.

  4. Umm jcll, 16/13 is not really the point at which you call a poll.

Could we perhaps not? You know, until its been an amount of time over a couple of days?

I like them, I no longer have to reply saying "Me too", I can just upvote the poor fool that shares my views

  5. While I doubt I'm active enough to spearhead the project I'm always happy to help. Some of the threaded queue stuff I've done before with bukkit plugins, ConcurrentLinkedQueue does all the heavy lifting for you, just a case of polling it every so often for blocks to roll back.

If you want to get a github repo going I'm sure there will be a few people interested in helping out

  6. As earlier mentioned in irc...

How do people feel about protections that auto roll back others edits (and don't drop items) after a certain time period?

It was how I always wanted it to be, clearly things like signs and blocks that have objects on them need to not break, but other than that break in and kill, and not really have to worry

And it also solves a big griefing problem by allowing protections on S without 'protecting' bases

In an ideal world the protections would allow you to break your way into a base, however you want, and know it will be safely rolled back in... 3 minutes? 10 minutes? etc

There has been a lot of talk about grief baiting, and what should be modreqed and what should be ignored etc etc - We have been looking at the discussion, the rule itself is wrong in the first place and will never work for a large public server.

Anyway thoughts and suggestions, plugin people who have risked their lives modding logblock would be nice to hear from too

I think we just need more Australians.... ( Graph time is GMT+10 - So really midnight AU is the peak time )

Honestly, during peak times PvE is perfect, sitting exactly at a comfortable player limit. Not too little, not too much.

We have rules in place that suit the current community, those rules are what keep them here. We lose a bunch who come and think we are too strict, or don't understand that there are consequences to actions on the internet, and that will always happen. We could and should be more lenient on bans but that is not really the reason we don't have awesome player numbers right now.

I think the real question is, how do  we draw more players to C and S, and how do we get more off peak players.

Edit: sorry, no idea how to make images smaller...appears not to be possible?

  8. Since signing up here a few days ago I have noticed these things seem to be littering the forums

Not quite sure how it happened, I assume some leftover css someone was playing with made it into the stylesheet during the migration. I trust we didn't intentionally put tacky little admin tags on everybody.

Anyway I do understand that telling between an admin/moderator/user is important with things like ban appeals, therefore I propose we fix the errors in the css to look something more like the following

Keep it uniform, make everyone's username have a little stary tag with their role or get rid of it.

    Cheers
