  1. CutePvP is loaded, however a tech still needs to compile an up to date version from my PR and load it on event.

I've set both the 'firstspawn' and 'nonteam' spawns to be in that leaf sphere thing and we've had NerdSpawn unloaded ( so there isn't any clash )

I've managed to set the team spawns as well as 2 of the 4 flag positions, flag 'one' for both red and blue have been set, and 'two' still needs to be decided upon locations ( mountains really make this hard to do evenly for each team :< )

I've added some basic flag areas and set them up as CutePvP flags. Please feel free to make them pretty!

Editing to add that once CutePvP is loaded with the new version we need to to get some 'players' online and in teams ( run /join ) and testing this stuff out, I cant add to whitelist and alt accounts will end up on the same team due to IP address checks.

It is also worth noting that we really need to be using more blue and red wool in the designs on the ground, due to buff/harm effects being triggered by these blocks when stood on

  2. We have always been an Anti-Pay-To-Win Community and most in game bonuses would encourage Pay-To-Win or Pay-To-Be-Above-Everyone-Else sort of deal. We could perhaps put a "donator:" in with /list but other then that I'm not sure what else we could add? Were more then open to suggestions so please feel free to share any if you have some.

I edited my post but I might as well post as a separate comment.

For example, how many people on PvE do you think would pay $10 a revision for a double chest sized ender chest? There are little things like that we can offer which a lot of people would pay for

  3. I can make a bridge to the race now that it's done. Any particular starting point?

I don't even know KOTH works on here, otherwise I'd do that. Anyone have any ideas or links?

There are specific worldguard flags we need to load ( that aren't currently as far as I can see )

From what I understand of the current S setup we would need WGSpawnPointFlag and regionboard to be loaded

  4. It is also probably worth highlighting that we are approaching the 1 month stage of this event setup ( If you judge by original post date )

We should start leaking screenshots and teasers, I've always been very fond of buzzies way of doing this for PvE. I know we don't want to set a date because committing to something is scary but we really need to start getting word out and building a bit of hype.

  5. 1) We should not call them fundraisers and just call them events. We should constantly be trying to raise funds, not just during allocated blocks of time that we do something special. I would like to see events about every 2 months.

    2) We should cater to different playstyles, CTF is great but we have a lot events such as the island build contest, there are a lot of fun game types such as skyblock, hardcore pvp, factions, etc

Just look through some of the servers at http://minecraftservers.org/type/minigames

    3) Length depends entirely on event choice, some events work well resetting every 6 hours, others would need at least a week.

    4) Yes, however ruling out in game bonuses makes no sense, please elaborate why you have added this.

EDIT: For example, how many people on PvE do you think would pay $10 a revision for a double chest sized ender chest? There are little things like that we can offer which a lot of people would pay for

    5) Events need planning, the current CTF thread is a mess with no clear direction, as event admin I would like to see you take charge of things like this more ( I know its finals etc, I think us being weeks away and running out of funds is just terrible timing )

  6. I feel the "Current staff" category needs attention, more than the appeal process.

I have no issue with your suggestion, honestly I would expect a 24 hour turnaround time for the whole process, I've heard a lot of player dissatisfaction and ridicule over "I'll reply to this later" posts that respond to the player, but don't move towards a resolution of the ban

In a perfect world I would like to see a way to attach screenshots/evidence to an account such that anyone should be able to handle the appeal process, not just a moderator who may not check the forums all that often

(IRC is a really good way to be notified of new appeals, where are you all?? )

  7. Do the ctf events generate about the same amount of funds each year or is there an upward or downward trend?

It fluctuates with the size of the current playerbase. Seeing as the playerbase is heavily trending downwards we should expect donations to do so as well.

  8. For what its worth all of the blue wall is now plugged and meets the ground the whole way around, no more obvious worldedit pastes.

I would like to get some markings placed out for the red base, even if the wall can't be pasted in, just so I can lay some foundations  which we can paste on top of, which would make life easier post paste

Other than that looking good guys, hows all the other aspects coming along? Do we have adverts planned and ready? public posts announcing the event, both for on the day and weeks leading up to it? is all the tech requirements complete and ready?

I would like to see a solid deadline put in place so we can start making sure we will have staff around during the duration of the event, both technical and server/head admins would be great to keep active during the event.

  9. Also why is this revision so short? The rev started early April and is ending around the first second of June. Seems a bit short compared to previous revisions.

Probably to do with a new admin team trying new things as well, now that they have more confidence in creating and launching a server as well as feedback to implement. I would be interested to hear if future revisions are planned to be as short however

  10. or something in-game (the lobby?)

I feel this would be an excellent place, it does not effect gameplay in the slightest, but every time a server restarts and everyone is dumped out to the lobby it provides instant recognition of our donors.

  11. As a donation funded community we should never be paying for something that we can do for free. Vanilla forums were old and outdated, but moving to a purchased ( and hosted? ) solution was not the correct response to this.

It is important to keep in mind that our donation drives vary in their success, at the height of our community we managed to pull in some large numbers ( mostly thanks to a small group of users donating generously ) and that our expectations should be drastically lowered for our future donation drives. In order to survive we need to investigate alternate means of funding, such as a 'games' server that accepts money for in game rewards in order to supplement the 3 nerd servers that do not offer such in game rewards. The donations received from the upcoming event will give us a good indication of how far down this dark path we need to travel.

I am always happy to donate, both in money and time to help this community, but as of right now I honestly would refuse to give money knowing it is to be spent of frivolous things such as IPboard I want to see that it is being spent wisely.

  12. All MCBouncer bans should have a duration attached to them at which point they will be automatically removed. An appeal should only take place if the player feels the ban duration is excessive or has other issues to raise.

In an ideal world MCBouncer would handle this process itself, if thats not still in the works (last I heard it was) then adding 1w / 1d/ etc to bans can help other moderators know when they are safe to close bans

  13. As long as there is limited redstone / glow stone I'm happy. Lighting updates on spawning kinda suck.

My ideal lobby would be something like the large pve spawn that was a giant house...except don't let people outside of it. That way lighting and crap is controlled, and it fits within the initial render distance when I first join and want to quickly walk to a portal

  14. After attempting to create a clan it appears that 2 letter 'tags' are not allowed because they are too short. Why is this so?

It appears that this is not the default setting, so this is a conscious decision that has been made, what is the objection to 2 letter tags? I would have thought the problem would be longer tags...not short ones

The configuration value can be seen below:

    https://github.com/phaed420/SimpleClans/blob/master/src/main/resources/config.yml#L10

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated, if this was configured in error, pls2fix :)

  15. As far as I can tell...

Who is unhappy? a bunch of people

What are they unhappy about specifically? being labeled in a negative light

What do they want to happen? not be labeled?

Is that desire appropriate to implement? yes, seems quite reasonable, I wouldn't like it either

If so, what needs to be done to make it happen? stop using such terms, which appears to have happened

Will they still be unhappy when that's done? probably, you cant force people not to lump users they disagree with into a group and label them as something, at least it seems admins won't be doing it anymore

This whole thread got a bit confusing. There was a good discussion mixed in with personal grievances from a several people, really needs to be a way to hide posts on these forums so I can read it through easily
