  1. there is a minecart sign...on th black block. obviously you didn't look hard enough ;) doesn't matter how many carts they take really, as long as they get through. i don't want it obvious where they should go. if they put too many carts on the track they won't make it through the doorway which is their own fault and they'll lose valuable time in the maze :)

  2. I believe THE OLYMPIAD (obstacle race) is done. rhe only part I don't have is prizes, right now prizes are an empty chest that unlocks when the winner goes into the room, do we have something to put in there? I have no idea what to do with that last piece, help?

    One thought I had was to use easy sign to award prizes so that people couldn't get them more than once and the lock will still work. I just need ideas for prizes since I'm clueless.

  3. I know sleep signs pretty well and can set those up for anyone who needs them, as well as any admin. The challenge with those is that they appear to set the player's position when they hit the sign as the spawn point, and that 1x1x2 space needs to be completely empty (ie, air blocks) in order for the respawning to work. Someone who stands with their face against the sign, for example, will get a "bed is obstructed" error when they die and be sent to spawn.

    Either way when I finish the course I'll need someone to come look through it and make sure it's not impossible or silly :) we can deal with fancy coding then.

  4. Ahhhhhh. Once I get it all finished I will look into that. Can we do our own regions on E (I know in normal gameplay we can't) ? If I can do that I can set it up to top people off at certain intervals which would be better than a constantly full bar.

  5. The sign sleep would work in the obstacle course, in case of accidental death.

    I have two other options though, either I need to scatter bonus chests (a bit of food and some small healing potions) or have the ability to become hungry disabled. The first option is easy enough to do, we would just need to monitor the chests in case the maze is used more than once.

    The only thing is we'd still need to know when game was completed to restock the winners chests. The only benefit is that if we awarded via modreq then a prize could only be awarded to one person/team one time, admin could just deny the duplicate request.

    Unless the prize can only be obtained a single time. I was envisioning people running it multiple times and needing to refresh the prizes.

  7. I'm not worried about counting up from first. I'll have three auto locking winners boxes to prevent cheating. So we'd need 6 signs to punch (one in each box, and in each box one for each team color)

    Also, what if in each winners box there was a secret code. They could modreq that code to claim their prize. That would leave all need for game moderation out of it. Wouldn't really even need a punch-sign in that case, unless we wanted to announce the winners publicly :)

  8. That is my favorite. We should do that. I'll come up with the fancy winners boxes so that the game can be left alone (no need for baby sitting) - if someone can help/do the automated announcement thing? I don't know if I have permissions for that, and even if I did I wouldn't know where to begin (but I can learn!!!)

  9. For the winner of an event, one thing I was considering (but I don't know how exactly it can be implemented) is for the first person who reaches the victory destination will have it announced with a message such as "Silversunset01 has won the obstacle course for Red Team!"

    Then a protected chest of some kind could unlock at the corresponding team base.

    I actually love this idea. Is it possible to do? I am planning to have three prize boxes, maybe that teams "obstacle course first place" box could unlock if they win it, or second place etc.

    /modreq plz make this happen! I'll make boxes you make magic mystery chests!

  10. I could do dual boxes in the winners area. Each place (1,2,3) has a red box and a blue box so it could trigger the appropriate event that way. Unless we're using signs to trigger the event. I have no idea how the special plugins work for CTF

  11. Perhaps have them grab a custom book from a chest to present to a judge for a prize? I or someone equally handy with redstone could also build a "winnner's chamber" that seals upon entry.

    I will have a winners chamber for 1st 2nd and 3rd place, I just wasn't sure what would happen *after* that. Maybe they can punch a sign that announces "<player> Came in first place in the obstacle course" (could it be area specific? So it announces to the obstacle course but not the whole server?). I'll also need to come up with a way for them to exit without cheating and claiming a prize. Unless there is only one prize per box that is recycled by the judges - I was mostly trying to make the race non-defendant on judge intervention.

    I like the book idea to present for a prize. I will come up with some of those to put in the winners boxes.

    Are we allowed to use command blocks? I'm trying to think of ways to prevent people other than the winners from collecting prizes and wasn't sure if that was an option or not.

  12. misc question on the obstacle course race. When I get to the end, how do we identify the winner without having a ref present? I have a timed starting box so nobody needs to kick off the race but do we use punch signs? I'll have some sort of winners box but what do we do officially? I'll be online tonight 6:30/7pm eastern if anyone wants to chat in game (most likely on mumble too).

  13. I'm not sure how much value people would see in just a forum-side badge. The lobby is always visible even if you don't come to the forums. And it's also a good place to advertise that we are looking for donations, if someone shows up that doesn't visit the forums and they see a donation wall or something in game they may also think to donate.

    I didn't even know it was a thing until recently, I though thought the servers ran on magic :)

  14. I guess if people don't know the waypoints until they reach them that would work, so they can't skip ahead. Will players be in creative or survival mode? I've got some REALLY fun ideas for an obstacle course, I really hope I can get in tonight!!
