  1. Will this meeting be lead by someone who uses a mic?

No offense intended for those who type, but listening back to the recording of the meeting afterwards makes no sense as it's missing half of the conversation.

Also, could you please explain this comment in a little more detail:

We will open the floor for new question at the end of the second meeting.

Does this mean the first meeting won't have any time allotted for questions?

  2. No offence intended, but this sounds quite boring.  It sounds like a PvE clone with minor changes.

Half of Minecraft is building grinders and mining for ores... if ores are plumped and some enchants disabled, aren't you worried that people will be maxed-out within only a couple hours of play time?  Then they'll have nothing to do except PvP, and unless you can keep the PvP going 24/7, people will start leaving because there'll be nothing to do when the PvP stops.

I agree. This revision we had citadel and prisonpearl which were great plugins which constantly encouraged PvP. It's all very well having an arena or two now and then but not everyone enjoys that kind of organised fighting and many would rather not be restrained to just an arena. I'm very disappointed by the proposed changes, we took a huge step in the right direction by trying out new things this revision and now we're just throwing it all away to go back to how we used to be - a worse version of PvE.

Totally agree here. I really enjoyed last revision and thought it was a winning formula.

Really disappointed to see all the progress being thrown away and we're going back to a formula we know doesn't work.

  3. Goodbye Enchanting: I know what you're thinking. "Oh dizney you've always been against enchants blah blah blah" and yeah you're right, I've always been against enchants. But this is different. I'm not saying get rid of enchants, just enchanting. Remove enchanting tables. Make it so the game doesn't revolve around players sitting in a grinder for three hours to get good armor. Now I know what you're thinking again: "dizneypls you cant have enchants without enchanting tables" and you'd be wrong! Anvils. Using enchanted books, you can enchant your gear (however I suggest taking away the need for levels to do this). But you would need to get enchanted books, and where might we find those enchanted books...?

  4. Should we add some sort of badges on the forums for donators?

    Yes.

Should we add something in game to distinguish donators?

Don't really mind either way, but when running a donation drive, a message in in-game chat saying 'Thanks for donating playername!' would be nice.

How else could we encourage donating?

Say where it's going and use it to bring in new players.

Should we have more donation drives/events?

Yes, make them scheduled (Example: Every six months).

  5. Wow never come close to dying from laughing. No offense but posts like this and people who "stir the pot" such as yourself are the only reason the community would be dying. Going to our roots, we argue and bicker on the forums but when it comes down to it, THIS is not our community on here. Our community is in the game. The new players who are making their very first hovel to the players who don't want to put up with the bickering here who are building a skyscraper in game. You have the whole concept of our community wrong. We were never a forums community, this is just where discussion happens. In game where honestly a good majority of players who are both new and old and are the glue of our servers, are keeping us together by doing something honestly many older players forgot how to do which is just build and have fun.

Looking past the unnecessary inflammatory comment. ಠ_ಠ

    I disagree.

The community is not, and should not be "just in-game", the community is nerd.nu as a whole, that includes the forums, mumble and IRC.

Excluding people who don't play in-game from the community is wrong, for example there are plenty of older members who still hang around in Mumble and IRC, they are just as much a part of the community as xX420Y0L0quikscopeXx building his skyscraper in-game.

  6. It does seem like not every one had a chance to vote/decided to vote.

First poll: (49 member(s) have cast votes)

Second poll: (32 member(s) have cast votes)

I think people didn't vote on the second one, because it was only open for 8 hours, and because there had just been another poll with the same options.  I think people assumed that the first poll's results would be looked at, and that they didn't need to vote in every user-created thread that rehashes topics that had (seemingly) already been decided.

  7. I'm a little confused about something.

The first poll for changing voting was created around the 23rd July,  the poll was active for around three weeks before it was closed by MrLoud, so there was more discussion, more users voted, and the results were more representative of users as a whole, but nothing ever came from it.

The second poll was created on the 20th August, the poll was active for 8 hours, before it was closed by Dumbo stating the Head Admins would publish the final decision soon. This poll, being open for such a short time, was much less representative of user opinion, and many time zones slept right through it.

Why did the Head Admins choose to base their decision on the results of the less representative poll, when the older poll was open for much longer and had more discussion/user votes?

  8. So disappointing to see the actions of certain Staff Members leading to features being removed, they're meant to be setting an example.

Hopefully this does allow for more positive discussion here on the forums and it doesn't lead to more bickering over who is right and who isn't.

To those of you who are set on having downvotes, you can always make your threads on the Subreddit instead.

  9. Unfortunately you are part of a group of people that takes part in vote brigades, if you see a post you disagree with you share it with your fellow mumble group and you all go downvote it together. On reddit this is called "Vote Brigading" and is bannable there.

My friends and I share many opinions in common, so we tend to vote the same way, as do other friend groups, there is nothing wrong with that.

  10. If we all want more progressive involvement in what happens within the community, we'll need to be able to talk through ideas more. I'm sure that most of us have been guilty of not being the best we can be when responding to a post but we should strive to be better, regardless of which name is giving the opinion.

I would love to see a more positive involvement from everyone, but quite frankly, removing downvotes is very far down on the list of things that need to change before that happens and it absolutely should not be a priority.

For example, very few new players are going to want to join this community if they come to the forums and see certain Staff Members acting the way they are on some threads. It is awful to see, especially when other Staff Members are putting so much effort into trying to revive the servers, only for it to fail due to the actions of those Staff Members.

  11. One major concern I have about most of your posts is the excessive BOLD and CAPITALIZATION and colors. They are extremely distracting to the threads.

    I disagree.

gsands posts contain 2 characters that are formatted in that way, that is not excessive at all.

Your post is a perfect example of a childish and inflammatory post. Your post is also a perfect example of what removing downvotes and having to explain your issues with a post will lead to, this is much more detrimental, confrontational and generally more rude than just downvoting a post and moving on.

If you have a problem with someones post and think it breaks forum rules or policies, you should report it, making a post like this just adds fuel to the fire and causes more issues.

  12. I already addressed this in my earlier comment(scher did as well) that if you disagree with something you need to provide a reason for your disagreeing, or support a comment that disagrees with said comment. Upvotes don't have to do that because you don't necessarily have to add anything when you agree with someone(though it's a good idea to). Downvoting detracts from discussion by encouraging disagreeing without feedback.

Okay, so with the current system, I downvote the comment I disagree with and then upvote someone elses comment explaining why I disagree.

Upvotes and downvotes show at a glance how many people agree or disagree with a comment.

Without downvotes, you have to make a comment entirely about how that person is wrong, which is much more confrontational, and will lead to more arguments, hurt feelings and "drama."

  13. Let's be honest, the little red button has the same problems ascribed to it. Downvote sprees instantly get characterized as personal in all but the most unanimous of cases. At least responding allows for a conversation for the amiable among the opposition.

If people decide to take the downvote button for something they aren't, there is no defense against that.  If upvotes are being taken as "I agree", downvotes should be treated as "I disagree".
