  1. Hey jchance- are you guys going to add an additional forum to the appeals categories on the forums specifically for note appeals? I ask because of the fact note appeals (might) have the ability to clutter the open ban appeals section up quite a bit. Possibly on nerd.nu/appeal, there is a checkbox which lets you choose between the two?

That's my thought if notes which automatically remove themselves wouldn't be feasible.

  2. Hello Mrloud15,

I'm going to go ahead and request a different head admin takes over this appeal. Your opinion is appreciated, but I would like to ask for someone else to wrap this appeal up, due to the fact I feel there may be unnecessary prejudice against myself for reasons which I'm not aware of (not including this incident, of course).

Initially wasn't planning on commenting, but I wanted to ask the admin who is taking over my appeal a question I had when I was looking at this with my phone today. How come being rude to someone once is harassment now? How was this seen as harassment (which then warrants a one month ban) if I not only did this once, but also did it through a passive-aggressive means? The definition of "harass" is the following:

    harass

    [huh-ras, har-uh s]
    verb (used with object)
    • to disturb persistently; torment, as with troubles or cares; bother continually; pester; persecute.
    • to trouble by repeated attacks, incursions, etc., as in war or hostilities; harry; raid.

And your incorrectly defined guideline states the following:

    Harassing or Defamatory

This category includes both clear and masked language and images / memes which:
    • Insultingly refers to other characters, players, nerd.nu staff, or groups of people, be they in-game or external.
    • Repeated minor insults intended to harass or annoy another player or staff for an extended period
    • Are Trolling: to post inflammatory or inappropriate messages or comments for the purpose of upsetting other users and provoking a response.

These definitions are not the same due to the bolded part. Harassment is when I make a distinct effort to follow said player around while aggressively calling them rude and offensive names. Let's be honest- it happened once. I understand that what happened was inappropriate, but I definitely don't think it warrants a one month ban. In addition, how is this "harassment" when the user in question had no knowledge of the comment I made passive aggressively? It seems banning me for abusing the vote glitch would've protected the interests of the player this was being indirectly targeted in this case.

From what I see, there are two major portions of this ban:

    • Abusing the vote glitch (which really should've been fixed prior to the revision's launch)
    • Being rude to someone by using a different username when voting for your server.

For these reasons, I'd like to see this ban length shortened. I think your definition of harassment is incorrect due to the fact harassment includes a specific person actually consistently being aggressive towards a specific player or group of players, not A) being part of a group of people (assuming that anyone who disagrees with you guys are at any point part of this group) who may have a history of being rude to people, or B) saying something about a player who has been harassed in the past.

I'd like to remind Mrloud15 that he is no longer required to comment here anymore, in respect for the following policy:

If at any point the banned player wishes to appeal the ban to someone higher up the chain, find a head admin to analyze the situation and let them deem if they need to moderate the appeal. If a player feels that a staff member is being bias they should be free to contact a head admin to analyze the situation. This right shouldn't be denied.

For the person who will be handling this appeal for Mrloud15 and for those who are reading this, I appreciate your time.

  3. I've had pretty good luck with just using dirt roads to start out with and just expand extremely slow. Not much of a strategy, but seems to be working for me.

Lol I originally started off with the massive super highways - the dirt roads are way cheaper though. :P

  4. Guessing this had something to do with the voting exploit where you could change the name to things which could be assumed to be rude. I went ahead and did this due to the fact other servers require the user to be online when it is announced, which is why it surprised me when the message was publicly announced. I apologize in advanced for these comments, and I would like to be unbanned if possible. I've also re-read the rules and the community interaction thing.

Also not 100% why I was banned from Mumble since the offense didn't actually occur on there, but I'd like to be unbanned from mumble if that sort of thing would be possible. Much appreciated.

edit: grammar was weird from previous edit

  5. There's still the loophole of tossing "free armor" to newbies at spawn and killing them as soon as it's on, for easy kills.

Would new players have in-game money? Unless we're going to be giving new users money or we're going to let people go into a negative balance, I don't think this would be much of an issue. If we are giving new players a starting balance, couldn't we set it so (with Unce's bank idea) that it wouldn't drop out of their inventory until they've played on the server for a bit? This way we could curtail the problem without having to create a rule about this.

  6. I actually really like Unce's idea instead of the proposed system which would slowly eat away or add to your balance when you're PvPing. This might add a bit more of a challenge if you want to trade using this currency, and doesn't necessarily mean you need lose anything if you die either.

Quick thing though: If we're using a shop command, couldn't we just have the bank inside the shop? That would kill two birds with one stone in my mind, lol.

  7. I think it should be standard procedure to make most admin posts regarding subjects which are no longer relevant or important (within a reasonable time period) to be made public - regardless of people requesting that they are made public. I'd personally like to see more posts moved to the public archives for users to read to gain an important perspective behind how controversial subjects were discussed and how procedures were determined for personal reference when discussing said subjects.

For those reasons, I think that a request system would be a good idea, but I also would like to see more things moved from private discussion areas into public archives more often.

  8. But here's the issue - he's not in the way. No one is building near him nor plans to because it's mostly in the ocean. Chunk distance is so low that no one will see it unless they approach. I will politely ask him, if he even knows English (has anyone seen him talk?), if he can raise his boundaries to y:65. If he won't, I'll let a mod do it. It's bullshit that you have to interrupt your travel and carry a crafting table just to pass by this soon-to-be behemoth.

lol. He's using an unusable biome (an Ocean from what I'm seeing in the picture) to build a larger project. Were you planning on using this biome prior to him claiming it? Probably not. Also the English part is irrelevant and could be offensive to certain members of this community - just because he isn't vocal in chat doesn't mean that he won't respond to something you /mail him.

The region is not, to my knowledge, protected. Just claimed.

...Why are you complaining then? If it's not protected - simply marked out so people don't build something there by accident, then why is this even an issue in the first place? I would find it easier to understand if he had claimed a huge chunk of land and protected it, but he's merely made a small border around land he planned on using for his structure.

(edited because the quote boxes were acting weird for some reason - ignore)
