  1. Well, moderators can see it in game, so seeing out of game makes sense. Only thing is, you run a chance of the link getting leaked to the playerbase. Which, if info on modreqs is going to get out, it will with or without a link.

On the subject of a google docs for old modreqs, could be useful for referring back to. It isn't as much problem for us, because we don't get as many reqs daily.

It isn't long, but TL;DR: Both are good.

  2. Could you please add lily pads to that list? I have been searching for some and have come to the understanding that they are very rare due to the nature of how of the map was created. Thank you :D

    Added

  3. I agree that no glowstone trade sign is needed. I spent 1 hour roaming the overworld and ended up with 5 stacks of glowstone. (not dust)

That is why we put it in the overworld, we honestly try to avoid trade signs when we can.

  4. Poll added. Choose the ones you think should honestly be on trade signs. Remember, the spirit of PvE is to not give away free things, but to build great and wonderful things with what we've earned.

Note: Results of poll does not guarantee implementation of trade sign, but will be used as an aid in determining if ones are needed.

  5. I wasn't around then, but looking at old cartos rev 8 really stands out to me. It's obviously custom, but it flows really well together and looks like a real-life landscape for the most part. It's not so jaw-dropping that you don't want to destroy it's natural beauty, but it's not boring and repetitive like vanilla either.

The best word I can think of to describe the look of it is 'subtle'. And I think that's a very, very good thing.

Rev 8 was world painted, and the only downside is, that "beauty" was only a block or two deep...

  6. If it is something that can be considered homophobic or racist, I immediately remove the player from the game. From past instances, muting and messaging them end up with them going "ok yeah, i whatever", and usually end up banned for it later. If players have to go through the appeal process (which I usually unban for right away, after they quote me the rule), I know they fully understand their wrongdoing and it won't happen again. Too many players try to blame it on "not knowing", but we put the rules at spawn, we have them all listed on an easy to find site (nerd.nu/rules). There are players who have been here for years who have never been banned. It really is not that hard to not get banned.

  7. This would make it so region owners (mayors) could open up their region for anyone to build it. Ideally, this would be good for farms or spleef arenas. That way, people could only play spleef and break the field with permission, but wouldn't have to add everyone to the region, just set the flag to build allow. Also, digging for a project could be opened up to anyone willing to help, then shut it down once help is no longer needed.

  8. As Nolan said, since there is no threat of being killed by other players, the threat must come from the environment (i.e. landscape and mobs). We strive to give the playerbase a beautiful, yet dangerous landscape to cultivate into the wondrous things you see. Can't make it too easy for you...

  9. WHat's your fav town on p from each rev?

Rev 6: Agua Fria and Pleasantville

    Rev 7: Pico

    Rev 8: Deorne

Rev 9: Had some IRL stuff going so didn't play as much as I wanted, so I guess Lothos

Rev 10: Spawn (Cause I built it). Also, Pearl Islands

Rev 11: Have not decided yet. I do like Atlantis though

  10. Ban for shawn3551 on c.nerd.nu for you're banned for griefing! yay! by pilot3033 on 2011-06-21 22:43:43

You're actually coming up on your two year mark. The rules have been changed since you were last online, so take time to read through them here. Comment back here and quote the one you think would be relevant to the one you broke.

  11. In cases like this, we choose to remove the player and handle the discussion here to be sure things are handled properly. We strive to be a community that accepts all types and lifestyles. We choose to remove players because some may not be willing to stop that sort of chat and we don't want people to feel unwelcome. We did not intend to make you feel we were being extra harsh for any reason, this is a typical response for this situation. I hope the rest of your time on our servers is enjoyable and we do not see you in this section again. As Barlimore did, I'm leaving this open because I believe you still have an unanswered question.

  12. What is your favorite thing about being a padmin?

Personally, mine is seeing the empty landscape be molded into the custom terrain we use, spawn being installed, and slowly developing to not just a collection of builds, but some kind of country. It is a diverse community of ideals, styles, languages, etc. Seeing the enjoyment in chat when players first see the map, and also when they first see any new event we throw at them. I didn't make the game, but I helped bring the map that lead to everyone's pleasure. That is my favorite thing about being a PAdmin.

  13. On P last night, buzzie and I made a diplomacy clan chat incase we need to have a discussion with multiple people and mumble isn't an option. I have taken the liberty to invite all admins (head, tech, and server) to this channel. If you would like to join, just /clanchat join diplomacy. After that, buzzie should be able to get the admins promoted to be able to add and remove players from the channel (so that once the matter is handled, they will not be able to listen to future issues). I think this will ease some difficulty when dealing with comflicts between players.

  14. Hey Buzzlie, i has questions;

Is there a reason why we can't use the /seen command?

    Plans for trade signs?

Do you find that you have more responsibilities now that Thrawn is a head admin now?

I'll take these (he can still answer if he wants).

/seen was removed due to people using it as being a valid reason to destroy someone's build. It does not matter how long someone has been inactive, admins are the only ones allowed to move/remove a build.

We used trade signs as a way to make up for the lack of resources that comes from a restriced map. With this map, we made glowstone present in the overworld. As of now, there is no plans for tradesigns.

As far as responsibilities go, we all three did our fair share of admin reqs, so that has increased a bit for both of us, but most of the hard work comes in with building the new maps. That will cause more to land on us (read: the new PAdmin), but I'm sure thrawn won't be able to stay away from the creation process. Even as a head admin, she still loves this server too much...
