  1. Would this be something you opt into, like a public clanchat channel? Also, how would this work in the logs? Would there be a separate part of the logs to see global things, or would convos have to be pieced together from all 3 logs?

  2. We've had discussions regarding making changes to the Apply for Mod page. With the help of some other staff members, I've made some tweaks to the current page that I think would be more beneficial to us. To prevent posting a massive image, I'll link it here. As I've said before, the current page set up will keep a list of names suggested, so that we can use them in mod-nom threads. Once a name is submitted, it will still link to something fun like this, since this is just a game after all. So, comments/questions/testimonials?

  3. I remember the end of a PvE rev when it was put into read-only and we were all given compasses, it got really laggy having everyone constantly jumping around with them. If we were to do this, I'd implement it as a fun, one-day only event. This way we could get a feel for the lag, and if it is manageable, then offer it to them as a full time thing. If the lag is game breaking, then we keep it as it is, and they will have enjoyed the event and be happy.

  4. I believe it's s.nerd.nu

    I've never been on c.nerd.nu

The way the MCBouncer database works, all of our bans go through as c.nerd.nu. This allows us to easily ban a player from all of our servers with one ban. We do not issue bans per server, because we are one community, and if you do not follow the rules on one, you will be removed from all of them.

  5. Ban for klumpig on c.nerd.nu for Analotion fanboi by Zitkovich on 2011-06-27 10:54:42

This is an older ban, so I'm willing to unban you. First, I need you to head over to nerd.nu/rules and read up on them as they have changed. Reply back here when you have done so.

  6. We received noticd earlier this evening that an unsupported development build of 1.7 bukkit was released. What does this mean to us? This means we have a very rough draft of what the usable bukkit will look like. This allows us to start testing plug-ins, in hopes of eventually getting all of our servers up to 1.7.2. Currently, P and C will continue to be on 1.6.4, until we can get a fully functional setup (with workings plug-ins and everything). We will do any and all testing on the temp chaos map currently running on S. We will keep everyone up to date with our progress, as it slowly... progresses. We appreciate everyone's patience.

  7. So, this topic has come up before a couple times, and after doing some research, I think I've got a good starting position. Looking at the price to buy ads on reddit, it seems fairly cheap to throw some advertisements there.

All the info comes from this page.

    1) We would need to either choose Frontpage or Specific Subs. There is no reason to advertise on the frontpage, as views would be wasted on non-minecrafters. This is why I would suggest choosing /r/minecraft and /r/mcservers.

    2) The cost is $0.75 per 1000 views. The minimum is $5 (roughly 6667 views), and each "package" will only target a specific subreddit. If we choose both subreddits, that is a minimum of $10 (for a total of 13334 views).

I'm wanting to know what the rest of the staff thinks about this, and if you guys think this would be a reasonable use of our funds.

  8. This may lead to the possibility that one's name has been submitted for consideration as a mod without the knowledge of that person, or to someone spamming names for consideration.

But, that is how it is currently done. We let them know before we vote, but assuming people keep modchat private, well, private; the player will not know they are being discussed until we move to the next step and approach then before we add them to a voting list.

  9. Denevien, I would suggest that if you want that page to be taken seriously, then you're going to need to completely redesign it.

The issue with just changing it around a little is that, I'm sure that there are going to be people like me, who click on it and knew what it looked like before and won't bother looking at it closely and notice the difference.  They are still going to assume that it's the same old troll page.

What about a change of looks. Will the text I have work if the page looks different? That way, people will see it is different and take time to read it? And I don't mean just change the background color, like actually change the whole thing, but keep the wording I have.

  10. So, I reworked the page a bit (but it has not been loaded to the actual page yet). Here is a picture of what I came up with using suggestions here. When submitting a name, it still sends to a fun silly page (changing it from ponies to something else), but as mentioned in my earlier post, it will send the player name to the admins. We can use these during brainstorming threads to get new ideas of possible staff members. I feel this new set up is a nice balance between the fun atmosphere we enjoy, while still professional enough to get the job done. I tried to please both sides with this, so please let me know what you think!\

EDIT: Already changed sumbitting to submitting on my end.

  11. Well, I'm still for doing this drive, but may have to push it closer to Christmas instead. It would have been possible to run on 1.6.4, but we always have less players when between updates, because some people just do not want to downgrade. I'd like to wait until we're up on 1.7, so that we have more potential player/donators. When this was first brought up, I didn't think it would take quite this long for Bukkit to get up to date, but we're just at their mercy now.
