  1. Thank you. Now, I know it is always nice to teach little ones that there are consequences for their actions. Be sure to thoroughly go overthe rules with him on whatever server he decides to play on, and you can show him this appeal, because I'm certain appeals on other servers are more difficult if not impossible. He is unbanned. Welcome back.

  2. I will do what you ask. I have also contacted Mojang regarding this issue. I want to point out that as I mentioned before my son is not capable of the infraction he is accused of. He is seven and only began using multi player servers a couple months ago. I am very frustrated to have to be making such effort for him to be able to continue to play the game.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but when you read through the rules, you can see that we deal with accounts, and not people. So, if in fact it was someone else in control of the account at the time, it is something the owner has to deal with. As I said, x-ray is one of the major rule violations that we have, as it is one of the few things that has lasting effects on the entire server. We do not issue these bans lightly, so the unbanning process does take a bit of time. I'm sure you can understand the frustration of the other players who had to go without the resources that were x-rayed for. As per my last message, comment back here with those two things, and we can get to the unbanning.

  3. If it was from someone else, then I would say you bought a banned account, and we'd go from there. Since you say you were the only owner, then one of two things happened: (1) your account was compromised and used to violate the rules on our server, or (2) you have a child who, like any child, is attempting to hide the truth of a fault he committed. So, since we can't really prove either way, lets assume both. To get this unban process rollings I need you two to:

    (1) Take time to go to the mojang website and change your password

    (2) Read through the rules

Once you've completed these, comment back here saying you have changed your password, and quote the rule that was violated by the account.

  4. What is the "totemo" connected to his name? This is not us.

That would be the staff member who banned the player. Unfortunately, totemo is no longer on our staff, which is why I have taken this ban appeal. We do not ban players without enough evidence to support it, and totemo was always one to be more lenient when dealing with possible x-ray cases. The fact that he issued this ban means he was confident enough in the evidence he found. Per the stats on our banning service site, he has logged into our severs 29 times which lead to his ban on November 11, 2012.

  5. Ban for oomka123 on c.nerd.nu for xray on S nerd.nu/appeal by totemo on 2012-11-12 19:46:01 (no more bans, no notes)

It seems he was banned just over a year ago for using some form of x-ray to cheat. This is a fairly major rule violation for us, because it takes valuable resources away from those who are playing by the rules. The typical ban length for this is a month, which is long passed. Before we unban him, I'd like him to tell us if he knows ShadowNinja563 and alexander3236

  6. Think of it this way, a person who makes an animal farm is most likely going to keep those animals for themselves, whereas a person who makes a crop farm is (usually) going to leave it easy to access so others can take from it, because they know that they will replant what's taken. So crop farms are treated more like a service and making them grief-able messes with everyone that uses that farm as opposed to an animal farm where you're griefing the sole owner.

I'm fine either way this debate goes, but just to present all sides: if farms were made so you had to leave two, don't you think people would be less likely to hide them away. I can almost guarantee someone would make an animal farm near a road for the public.

  7. Don't understand how people see crops so differently.

Because crops are a block rather than an entity. And long ago, there was the debate of if it is still griefing if they replant since it is no longer the fully grown block. They decided no, it isn't griefing as long as it is replaced. Now, at least with crops, you can bone meal to speed the process back up. If a mob rule was added, you would could possibly only be left with baby animals all the time, which are useless. And it would be difficult to enforce a rule of only leaving adults, because if a mod waits 10 or so minutes before checking a modreq regarding someone only leaving babies, then it could have grown by then. Just some things to consider.

  8. I initially wanted this to be a full 24 hour+ event, so maybe a 3x3x3 obsidian block can be broken in the first hour, as Mrgauthier said. To make the event last much longer, possibly have a block/mob that represents the nexus/oxygen tank with the ability to regenerate durability/health.

Well, if it is PvP, and you spawn near your own area, it makes it hard to break a whole 3x3x3 cube before people respawn and come kill you.

  9. Using the Nexus idea I was thinking why not have  life support as the goal to destroy. It could have its own room in every teams  spawn space station. If you break the other teams life support it causes the air to turn into what is it like outside the space stations making you lose air and start to suffocate. As for what block could be represented as life support I'm not sure of that yet but maybe not even a block maybe a mob with some potion buffs making it harder to kill.

Maybe an obsidian cube. Once the whole (say 3x3x3) cube is gone, then it is destroyed.

  10. I see your reasoning here, with people not being able to see what they're up against, but I still don't think that it's fair that people who built them off the server are only given 4 days VS just short of a month. That's a massive difference in time.

As I said, it doesn't have to be complete. We are just allowing people to move their current progress in. At no point have we said its only completed builds that can't be edited ever again.

  11. Yeah but it's not answering the question. Why not drop the requirement for a central spawnpoint if there's no reason for it other than a tech admin's unexplained personal preference? It restricts the possible builds, as roastnewt has already brought up...

The argument could be made that changing the rules now would disadvantage players who've already had to compromise their designs in order to have a central spawnpoint, and I'd be equally satisfied if slide said "oh I thought it would give us some kind of lag/fairness/whatever advantage but apparently I was wrong", but seriously how the hell can you defend this decision without bringing up a single factor that contributed to it? I don't even care if you guys made some kind of miscalculation or tired/drunk decision but at least don't try and defend it by saying "well, slide runs the contest so he can make whatever rules he likes without explanation!"

The rules were laid out in the first post. Which was even before we opened up the Event server for the contest. Yes, this may restrict builds, but thats part of the creative fun, having to work with what you're given. Some players decided to start outside of the planned event by doing things on singleplayer/other server, but that was outside our control. We laid the rules out, and then opened the server for people to compete with a given set of rules. As we said, there will be future contests, and if someone has a design that would fit other rules, they can wait for the next one to submit it.

  12. What's the reason for this? I think it's totally fair to want everyone's builds to be in the same place, but as Four_Down said why not just allow them to be pasted in at the end?

It allows all players the chance to see the competition. It would be unfair for those who don't have access to World Edit outside of Event to have to build it in game for everyone to see, but not get to see what they're up against.

  13. So, builds that are not on Nerd have to be submitted within 4 days purely because that's how you want it? I think that's ridiculous.

If you're so set on having them in one place, why not allow them to submit one week before the deadline, that gives plenty of time for people to finish their builds, as well as people to view the builds.

They don't have to be complete. We are allowing players to submit their work in progress, and finish on Event.
