  1. I would like to bring attention back to this as it's been several months with no change.

    If someone could make a full list of which ones need to be fixed, Deaygo said he can work on it on his home machine from time to time. A list like this would be best:

    Rev 22: need latest carto

    Rev 24: wrong size carto

    Etc...

    Scher made a partial list of some that were mentioned, but no one ever made the full list.

  2. Sounds good, but maybe only host it every fortnight or month so it doesn't get too stale or puts too much work on the techs.

    The techs said bringing up a server that is already prepped is no problem, thus the repeat each week. So, they will have two weeks to prep the next map. They said to try it live, and if there is problems of scheduling or strain on the other servers, we can go from there.

  3. Too true, destroying stuff that's already been destroyed is no fun. This was an idea a few of us discussed months ago, since the event server already exists and isn't used, it would be nice to use it as a chaos server every other week or so, by uploading a different revision from every server. It'll make chaos feel a bit more permanent and it wouldn't lose it's charm midway through.

  4. So, per comments I've heard around the servers, including here, we've spent some time discussing the idea. What we would like to do is start having Throwback Thursdays. Now, I know you may be thinking this is just some April Fools thing, but it is my off day, so I didn't have time to post it until now, this is no joke. So, the way it will work is similar to Magynus's suggestion in the linked thread. The proposed plan is for 24 hours every Thursday, the Event server will host old maps. These maps will be updated to the current version of minecraft, and will be running a post-rev style chaos. This means we will have some essentials such as world border, log block, etc. to prevent rule breakers (yes, chaos still has some rules). The best part about this: old players get the nostalgia of running around their old towns with friends, and new players get to explore how things were before their time.

    So, down to some details about it. The current plan is to run each map for 24 hours two Thursdays in a row. Each map will rotate from server to server (personally thinking the server order should go C -> S -> P, since that is the order they came about). We will run polls for the playerbase to choose which rev they would like to play on each time around. So, it would look something like this:

    • 1st Thursday - C Rev 14
    • 2nd Thursday - C Rev 14
    • 3rd Thursday - S Rev 5
    • 4th Thursday - S Rev 5
    • 5th Thursday - P Rev 7
    • 6th Thursday - P Rev 7
    • 7th Thursday - C Rev 10
    • etc

    So, since I'm just getting this thread up, it may be a couple weeks before we get it all rolling out, but I'd like everyone to post feedback, thoughts, and suggestions regarding this.

  5.

    <Denevien> [22:52:29] edk, did I hear talk of you making a new MC wrapper?

    <edk> [02:48:43] Denevien, barney and I are doing a bit of work on it, but progress isn't very quick. I don't think either of us has much time

    So, no real idea when it would be released, but later in the convo, he said when it is ready, it will have IRC support. I guess we will just have to reban Barneygale so that he has time to work on it :D.

  6. The way our modreq system works, the spot the player is standing when they create the modreq, we have the ability to easily teleport to that location. So assuming the modreq for flowing water was made by the water block in question, when we accept and teleport to the modreq, we are right there beside it. There is no need to separate these reqs from other ones, because it would just be more commands to remember to achieve the same goal. Some of the commands we use will claim the modreq, teleport us there, and view the comment submitted by the player all at the same time. We appreciate you taking the time to write up possible suggestions, we enjoy seeing players take pride in the servers.

  7.  So, we haven't had techs post in here about the topic, so I poked slide, this was our convo:

    <Denevien> slide, you still around?
    <slide> I just got in bed
    <Denevien> giggity
    <Denevien> but for real, no techadmins have responded to the throwback thursday thread, I'd like some thoughts on if the box could handle it
    <slide> Oh right. Is it gonna be creative mode? Static like c, no growth/mobs etc?
    <Denevien> no, I'd like it to be like a post-rev chaos, so keep worldboarder/logblock/essential stuff
    <Denevien> but let people run around, kill each other, blow shit up
    <Denevien> using old revs
    <slide> Ah, I don't think it'll be an issue. We can always try it and see

    Unless anyone comes up with a reason not to post a public thread, I'll post it tomorrow (Sunday) evening, and get this rolling, and plan to have the first one be April 10th. So, speak now, or forever hold your peace.

  8. So, I've had a thought (which was brought on by many comments by other people). I think it would be awesome to run a 24 hour map on event on Thursdays (in conjunction with the other 3 servers, not a replacement for them) that is old maps in a post-rev style chaos. We would keep some basic plug-ins such as logblock/worldboarder/etc, but would have firespread and blockdamage on. I think this would appeal to many different types of players: new players get to see how things were done in old times, and old players get the nostalgia feel of playing their old maps. I think we should choose a random order of C, S, and P (this is my preferred order), and have a weekly poll that runs from Friday to Tuesday/Wednesday. The poll would have a list of all revs (that we have a download for) for the chosen server for the week. Once a map is used, it will be removed from the poll the next time we use that server. The players can choose where they would like to go, where they'd like to destroy.

    I'd like feedback from the techs to if this would be possible/feasible (I don't want to strain the other servers to run this), and if the other admins feel this would be a good idea. Vote in the poll, and leave comments if you'd like.

  9. Whats so fun about creative when it goes into chaos is that the world starts off beautiful and meticulously built, making the chaos all the more satisfying and bleak. I don't have any idea how hard technically this would be but what if the chaos server started on older revs of the survival and creative servers? I really think this dynamic could lead places. Either way, another chaos server would be fun!

    This would be more suited for a weekend event or something, as once everything is destroyed the fun wears off. We've ran pure vanilla chaos before, and without world boarders, people get too spread out, causing lag, and nothing ever happens. But, as you said, running something similar to post-rev chaos could be appealing to new players, to be able to see old maps, and for old players to have that nostalgia feel. We will look into some possible options.

  10. I'd like to believe your story that you've been serving your ban out, but considering the proof that refutes that, I find it hard to believe. You claim that you have not played since you were banned for mass griefing on multiple accounts during our CTF event, but as I said in the last appeal, you were on multiple times, including December 21, 2013:

    2013-12-21 20:28:00 | [anadrom -> REDACTED] do you know who is i am bb
    2013-12-21 20:28:02 | [REDACTED -> anadrom] who
    2013-12-21 20:28:11 | [anadrom -> REDACTED] i have bb in my name bb
    2013-12-21 20:28:19 | [REDACTED -> anadrom] pls
    2013-12-21 20:28:28 | [anadrom -> REDACTED] and the third letter of the abC in the middle of Bb
    2013-12-21 20:28:37 | [REDACTED -> anadrom] HI BCB

    This was given to me back in December by another staff member, and it was backed up by a separate staff member who was in mumble with you. When this alt was banned, you told the mumble channel that you were banned on your alt. So, I still feel you have not served your time, since you can't even admit your wrong-doings after being called out. Appeal Denied.

  11. Hey, I got a question.

    Let's say one account is being camped at spawn/bed/something, is it okay to log into a second account and just get on with whatever I was doing before, with no PVPing.

    I would imagine it is, as it doesn't give a PVP advantage, but I just want to make sure.

    The SAdmins are the one to make the policy, so I'd ask them to be sure, but I'd say it is fine to get on another account to go mining or something while you wait for them to leave, assuming you're not combat logging on the first account.

  12. Using alt accounts is allowed, unless you are banned on one of them. Are rule is if you're banned on one account, you're banned on all of them.

    So unless there is a ban in the way, you're free to use alts as you wish. Everything you mentioned is allowed.

    This is true on P and C. The only extra limit on S is that you can't use an alt account for a PvP advantage. Anything that gives an advantage, including logging out on account 1 in a strategic location and playing on another account until you see someone log on can get both accounts banned.

  13. Again, apologies for the delay, some discussion had to take place before we could move forward. On many occasions, you and I have spoken about this and what is expected. As with all appeals, I'll say this: Be sure to fully read the rules before returning. Unbanned, welcome back.

  14. Ban for alanpep on c.nerd.nu for griefing | appeal at nerd.nu/appeal by ludeman84 on 2011-09-17 00:33:40 (1 more bans, no notes)

    Sorry, seem to have missed this one. This is a very old ban, and you seem to have done what I would have asked of you. I'm going to go ahead and unban you. Many rules have changed since you have been gone, so be sure to really get to know the in-depth rules for each server you decide to play on. Unbanned, welcome back.

  15. Obviously, but it would be nonsensical to flood Server Discussion (you know, where discussions about the servers are had) with several image threads. Otherwise it would turn into the subreddit, which is a mess.

    What do you propose to call this sub subforum.
