This seems like a fantastic example of a conversation that should be moved to the archives section of the forums.
It hasn't been moved, because discussion is still open on it. Once things go to the archives, they are locked down, and a new thread would have to be opened on the topic, which is a bit silly.

Eehee, don't worry about leaving me out, I miss most things, I'm used to it. I've been on these servers for 2 years, and have only been around for 1 revision launch (PvE 7), and I've missed the start of all special events like 5k, CTFs, etc.

So, ideally we'd prefer a system that ranked players based on the gear they wear in fights, and not just a kdr? Something that promotes pvp by having some kind of decay, so that you can't get a good rating, and avoid PvP?

Looking at recent complaints, you can tell many players want new revs ASAP. So, we try to estimate when it will be ready, so that it can roll out ASAP. Would players really prefer a post saying "Hey, we got everything done, so we are going to make you wait a week knowing it is fully ready to go now"? You know we have to give an announcement days in advance, so people can finish any projects they started. We are willing to work with people, people just need to decide what they want.

Before your ban, you had spent much time in and around these servers. During this time, you showed on multiple occasions that you didn't truly care for the rules we have in place. These rules are here to make the game enjoyable for a wide range of players, and some rules (including the one you were banned for breaking most recently) are the sole reason certain players stay here. The point of this is that for you to be a member of this community, you have to understand, appreciate, and follow our rules. Not just do what you can do stay barely inside the rules, but be a useful part of our community. Again, many times in the past, you've shown that you do not care to do such a thing.
Having said all that, we feel that people can indeed change as they get older. We'd like to give you that chance, but we will not give this chance lightly. First, we are issuing an official ban length. Your ban length is set at One Year from the original ban. Just to avoid problems that arose in previous appeals, you can appeal your ban anytime after Noon Eastern on May 19, 2014. This, of course, assumes that you cause no trouble before then. I shall also go ahead and say that, if you behave and find yourself unbanned, any future bans will carry a ban length of at least one year. You have just over two months to read through our rules, so you can be sure you fully understand what is expected of you. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Bump, thread was left to die.
Is the problem still occurring? Way back when this was going, John said slide had made some changes, which could cause the original shifts observed. There is no need to bring this up if it isn't relevant anymore.

3) Has an Uberproject been discussed? I'm not even sure how they're decided these days.
Usually just involves a player telling everyone he has a great plan, just needs help. If you go in without a plan, it is hard to get much support.

Bump for Denevien to follow-up.
We are still working on getting the perms changed around a bit, but policy of it has been discussed. On the group on steam, there is a discussions area that we will use to post when we will be playing games. When people get together to play, they can poke one of the staff who is on steam to make an announcement that anyone in the group will see in a small pop up window (similar to when friends log on and off) announcing there are people playing the game currently. Also, if a mumble channel needs to be made for those playing the game, again feel free to poke any staff that are on mumble. We will not be using the built in event stuff, because it pops up a window that has to be clicked to make it go away, and that can quickly get annoying for players. The announcement just pops a notification that quickly goes away.

but minecraft has put a "base" spawning value in the code. for percentages that is. its in the minecraft wiki but i see what your saying.
More of what he is trying to say is that many pve maps use custom software to create the land, so it isn't using Minecraft base values. Sometimes ores are plumped, spawning ranges changes, or new ore added to the ground (e.g. glowstone). As a math major, I appreciate the work that went into it. Ultimately, this will be up to the community what they want to set the price at, but it's a useful comparison to see if something is relatively fair.

I tried bringing this up once, but it was a busy time and it was forgotten. My thought on it would be treat it like a ban. They file a request on the forums, and whoever issued it removes it. That way we still have evidence it existed, though mods would have to check the forums when they plan to warn someone. It has its ups and downs, but I feel it is worthy of discussion.
