  1. Hello Friends!

We are rapidly approaching our 5th Anniversary as a server, which is June 10th. To celebrate, we will be hosting another 24 hour CTF event the weekend of June 7th. We're happy to be celebrating this 5 year mark, especially since our funds only come from generous donations of our user-base. We pride ourselves on not being a "pay-to-win" server, and to keep running smoothly, we occasionally have to come forward to ask for donations. During this event, you will see messages pointing to nerd.nu/donate. If you are willing and capable to donate, we can keep things rolling for years to come. We will be making another post closer to the event with more details.

On another note, today is Memorial Day here in the US. It is designed to remember those who have come and gone within our country. During this event, I'd encourage everyone on the servers to do something similar. Many of us have been here long enough to see many players come and go. I enjoy these servers, because we are a community, and we all meet people that we can truly call friends. So, for the friends we've made, and the friends we've lost, let us celebrate this milestone together.

  2. If we had a reliable place to convert it all to cash, then I don't see why not. I know LadyCailin has done some bitcoin stuff, and I think slide has as well. They know more about what is out there to use to redeem for dollars (which someone could redeem, then donate the cash back).

  3. This seems like a good idea to me. If we're going to solicit content from players, though, we should probably work out some guidelines for what gets approved or rejected.

Saying that it needs to follow our universal rules, as well as YouTube rules should cover most things. Then follow with "Admins reserve the right to decline submissions"

  4. I got a message from a player today who is willing to make content for the Youtube channel. This is the message I received:

    Hey buddy,

Something was mentioned in the S meeting the other day that's stuck with me. What's being done with the mcpublic youtube channel?

I want to do something with it. Player profiles, documenting events, showcasing towns, Q&As with staff, etc. Nothing over 5 minutes long unless it's an event. A mix of what I do now on my own channel with input from others who would be interested in contributing.

If I were to pull enough interest and bring a team together from each server, would I be able to do it and put it on the mcpublic account? At most we could use it for promotion and community building, the least it could be used for shits and giggles.

She already has experience recording and editing videos. Does this seem like something we'd use the channel for? To me it seems exactly like what it should be for, and player submitted material makes it more of a community, and less work on us. Thoughts?

  5. Ok, this is probably a big let down for all of you reading. I saw my grades dropping (fast) when I was trying to get the event to be created on time, so I've been neglecting the project for quite a while. It's finally to the point where I realized that June 10 is only weeks away, and the map is about 60% done. It is possible I can make it in time (I'm free June 7-12). Either we can delay the time to make sure this event is great, and still tell people that it's been 5 years, or make an entire new event. Sorry for not being able to invest more time into this event, and hopefully I'm wrong about this.

No worries, real life is always more important. Some people have been working on a CTF map. If you got done with yours, then we would have had yours for the anniversary, and the CTF later in the summer. But now we can do CTF for the anniversary, and do yours sometime later in the summer. Get things good with school, then let us know when you get finished.

  6. I appreciate your patience while finishing out your sentence. As I said in the last appeal, we are not doing this lightly. We forgive, but we do not forget. Any future infractions will lead to a ban of at least one year. Enjoy the game, unbanned, welcome back.

  7. oh ok does the server have any block recorder if so could i have the log and ill reading your rules.  thank you

i have saw you rules i know most of them from other servers and yes i will follow the rules

The ban is from over a year ago. We change revisions from time to time, and do not retain the logblock data. You claim to know most of the rules, but I would suggest getting more familiar with them, as to not end up here again. You're unbanned, welcome back.

#1 I came into the meeting a bit late and saw that discussion had moved on, so rather than disrupting the main meeting by talking about old topics, I stuck mainly to text chat and said my opinions there. As far as I can see, there is nothing wrong with this. Everyone is usually focused on what people are saying rather than typing during meetings, so this kind of thing should be fine. I'm not sure why you see issue with this.

Some people do not have microphones and have to rely on text chat to voice their concerns. That is why chat is focused on, and that is why it is disturbing having things already discussed being brought back up. You were late to the meeting, you should have accepted the fact that you missed your chance to give input on those topics and moved on. After a recording was released, if you had further thoughts on things you missed, then you could voice them then.

#2 This has been the first meeting where chat has been moderated so harshly, where you aren't even allowed to say hello to someone entering the channel. I think you take yourselves a bit too seriously. Why can't we make a funny comment now and again in chat and why is that being ever so disruptive? The answer is, it's not. It doesn't disrupt anything if you just read it and move on. The problem is when players bring up that it isn't on task, which sparks off more of an argument than there was. Yes, not everything I said was to do with discussion. Whilst the meeting was ongoing, how did any of those things (that you've listed in #2) *actually* disrupt the meeting? They didn't. Calm down.

Again, this spams a chat that some people may be trying to use to discuss the current topic.

#3  Me and tobylane were having a discussion about things brought up in the meeting. Apart from a couple of insults here and there, we didn't do anything hostile. It didn't disrupt the chat, and instead of thinking that you have to govern it, it would be better if you didn't pay attention to it and started talking about other things.

As staff, it is our job to govern chat. If you honestly think this is an appropriate way to staff to act during a meeting like this, maybe you need to re-read this.

#4 There was a discussion in chat where someone brought up the sadmins and I voiced my opinions. I didn't do so by shouting about how bad you all are or calling you unintelligent twerps, I politely and calmly voiced my thoughts on our current sadmins and what should happen with them. If you're unable to take criticism then that is your problem, don't get angry with me for it.

You main point was the way they did things in the past. From what I can tell (by having this meeting), they are working on changing their ways. Are you seriously going to hold their past against them? Keep in mind, these are the same three that ignored your past, and welcomed you onto staff.

#5 A kick was not the right way to deal with the situation which is why I was so suprised by it, I did not expect that from you Mumber. It made it worse. People were kicking up a fuss in chat about it and it totally derailed the meeting, especially after I was banned. I hope you can see this now.

From what I can see, you spent a span of 25 minutes just complaining about the SAdmins. Again, they are hosting this meeting to make the changes you are hoping for. Having ran meetings like this myself, sometimes there are slow spots where things are being discussed in IRC, so they can answer concerns brought up on a unified front. So, it may not move as fast as you want it, but things take time. So, if I was running a meeting trying to help and make things better, and someone spent that long not on topic, solely complaining about me and my fellow staff members, I would say the kick was justified. It was simply to get your attention, to get you to calm down. You ignored the warning, and came back in full force, fully earning this ban.

  9. Recently, we've come to realize there is no formal rule on all servers regarding RS lag machines. S and P had their own wording for them, but C had nothing. So, I've taken the liberty of adding it under the Universal Section of the rules:

Redstone mechanisms, dispensers, and pistons may be removed at moderator discretion; abuse of these (e.g. lag inducing) may result in a ban.

    This rule begins immediately.

  10. Due to the extent of infractions, I'm going to set the ban length to be 6 months from the last one (December 21st). If you can keep on the straight and narrow until June 21st, we can go about the unban then. When/If we get there, I want you to remember what you've said here. Any bans (or ban extensions) will come at a much higher cost (meaning a length of at least 1 year). If you have any questions or anything, feel free to contact me.

  11. I've spent some time thinking on this ban. You've been around here for a while, and your name keeps ending up in this section. I told you two years ago that I didn't want to see you back in the ban appeals section. At the time, I truly hoped you'd fix your ways. Now, two years and many bans later, what is to make me believe that you are actually reformed, and that you won't end up here again. This is your time to bear it all and plead your case. Go.

  12. could we discuss possibly extending the time the maps are up? I love the concept of short and sweet combat and explosions but making tnt takes time and the map is quite fresh by the time the 24 hours is up.

The plan is do use the same map two weeks in a row. I'd like to have the second week be most of the destruction stuff. I'm going to look at a way to get TNT to players (whether it be signs or a plug in)

  13. Gear signs are nice, but ultimately, those end up getting camped too.

Any updates on when the first Throwback Thursday even will take place?

Should be going live this evening. Didn't want to commit to a time before I was sure we would have it set up. So, it will be online all day thursday.

  14. Sorry for the delay. It's been a busy time at work being a holiday. I'm willing to give you a chance to prove you have indeed changed. But, be warned, any future infractions will come with a much harsher punishment due to past actions. Be sure to catch up on the rules before returning. Unbanned. Welcome back.

  15. We will be taking time to discuss this, but while we are, I want to you think about this: You claim to not have used mods to ruin game play for others, but x-ray is one of the few ways to hack that does have a lasting impact on others. When we roll a player back for x-ray, we do not respawn the diamond ores that were mined. This removes valuable resources from players who are playing the game correctly.
