  1. No offense intended for those who type, but listening back to the recording of the meeting afterwards makes no sense as it's missing half of the conversation.

The straightforward thing to do is to copy the text chat as they come in. I can't remember if they have timestamps, though. (Hey, maybe this is finally a use for Soundcloud's stupid commenting system...)

  2. Thoughts on troubleshooting: either the server's crashing, or someone's forgetting to flush at the end of a write operation. Say, how is the server being rebooted? A script, or some built-in feature? If the former, is the script merely killing the server or is it nicely notifying the server and leaving the server to tidy up? Also, how's the autosave triggered? With a plugin, script, or CraftBukkit builtin?

  3. For the record, Schematica itself can do that.  The only possible need for the server to handle an export would be if you try to save a section outside your chunk loading limit, and then you can probably just do them in sections and stitch them together in MCEdit or something.

Just wondering, for older revisions, wouldn't downloading the revision itself also suffice, unless I'm missing something here?

  4. BTW, it should not matter whether HTTP or HTTPS is being used. A website should be expected to be working properly using either.

Edit: Quick post editor is borken. I'll cut the explanation short, since I don't want to type it a third time. It's caused by hardcoding URLs to https instead of //. See this jQuery bug ticket. (There's something weird with the forum text filtering that is always canceling out what I wrote...)

  5. BTW, I've heard reports of this happening a couple of weeks ago when I was on, so it's not something that just popped up. Interesting to note, it seems not everyone loses all their work. At the time I was present, I think most, if not all of my changes were saved, but some others had 5-10 minutes of work undone.

  6. BTW, I feel it's worth mentioning that numerous servers (at least from what I can tell) subscribe to the bans from MCPublic. That means if someone is banned here, they may not be able to access some other servers in the duration of the ban. That's something to consider when discussing ban policy, as it doesn't just affect this group of servers, but also certain other servers as well.

  7. Just two things about the wiki off the top of my head:

    1. User login log

I really don't think it's necessary for the public to be able to see who is trying to log in and their IP addresses. Maybe that log can be made private? (The other public logs don't seem to contain very sensitive information and should be kept out for those who like to keep track of things.)

    2. Editing other people's player pages

What's the policy for this? A wiki is for anyone to edit, but I'm under the opinion that for player pages, the players know themselves the best. Personally, I only edit others' pages if their are major problems with their formatting, and I make redirects when necessary. If the change is major I leave a message on the talk page. Should rules allow broader changes (allowing others to add relevant content and changing formatting and whatnot) or be stricter (no editing of others' player pages except for non-controversial edits, like date left/date banned)?

  8. You still can use your area for whatever! As our projects only share the -600 block wall. That is why I suggested the move of your cavern ~5 blocks to the east.  As far as sacrificing a corner of my dig, that is not an option. The area is exactly 300x300 and I have plans for all of it :/

I mean the ravine that is within your borders, which I uncovered while doing my dig. Not sure who gets ownership of it, considering it was a natural formation.

  9. Uh-oh, I hope that isn't on the corner of the dig I'm doing right now. Looking at the live map, the east quadrant might be over my lab (see two beacons at -553, -1376). I'll take a look next time I'm on.

Note to others: I have plans for the adjacent mountain and maybe the underground portion south of the mountain. Please give me a heads up if you're thinking about those two areas.

  10. I thought Rei's hadn't included player radar yet? At least that's what I was told.

I believe player radar has been a feature for a while. Players show up as blue dots on the map. Per Rei's page, under "How to Enable Cave mapping / Entities radar on SMP", "&2: entities radar (player)" is listed as an option. As I said previously, the message can be sent by granting it with bPermissions, and has been done previously, so I expect to see it enabled for next rev.

    1. TPMode

Good call, as far as I'm aware, the only reason tpmode ask is the default is because it makes it easy for griefers to go to town. That seeks like a silly idea especially considering how easy dealing with grief is, not to mention the giant red flag that pops up when the victimised player begins exclaiming that he's being griefed.

I say we just default to allow mode and add a server message about being able to change tp permissions.

    2. Grass Spread

Didn't know about the grass-proof dirt. I don't see why we should leave grass-spread turned off. Although it might not be a good idea to turn it on this rev, and just have it enabled once the next one starts

    1. I'm sort of on the fence on this. Even though I allow TP by default, I still would like to know who TPs in, which is only displayed if you're in ask mode. Before I was sort of relying on player radar to tell me, but that's not really as good as a bright green message stating it explicitly. As for what mode for default, I still think ask is good, but with a message for the first few times telling the player they can change it to allow or deny if they'd like. I don't really want to see people saying "you're in my house, and I didn't invite you" at random times.

    2. My observation doesn't really pertain to next rev, but reenabling grass spread means we don't have to build NerdBukkit anymore (since the only difference from regular CraftBukkit is the disabling of grass spread). It's one less thing to worry about when updating.

  11. Another little detail; Rei's Minimap player radar has not yet been enabled.  I don't know the tech aspects of this, such as whether this is a viable option for the server as long as Rei's is still in beta.  If it's possible, tho, I think we could use this.  The Dynmap isn't a bad workaround, but doesn't quite have the same effect.

For a period of time Rei's player radar was enabled (it was a popular request in rev. 24). Some time during the past two or three months it was disabled again for no reason I'm aware of (probably someone forgot when updating to 1.7.2). In any case, it's as simple as granting a WorldGuard permission through bPermissions.

  12. For the past couple of days it seems batches of people are getting randomly disconnected from the server. Connecting through other servers and then transferring to C is fine. Apparently whatever is bound to the port is being unresponsive while the server itself is fine.

  13. The planned route looks too ring-y for me. I don't know, maybe rotate it 45 degrees? Or maybe make it more organic, i.e. build the rails as needed, but keep them relatively organized.

(Sorry if that doesn't make sense. At this time my brain is not completely operational.)

P.S. I've developed a slight obsession with my local transit system's train lines. I think I have some ideas for stations. (I've wanted to build a replica of South Campus for a while. http://www.seevirtual360.com/themes/52/VirtualTour.aspx?listingID=15475 )

I think at least stations should have access to numerous buildings around, rather than just for one or two builds. Maybe having people stick closer together could be something that should be considered for the whole of C. Also, it'd be nice if stations were more integrated into their surrounding builds, rather than being purely standalone. Having pedways connecting buildings would be nice.

  14. I can only Minecraft (and hence Mumble) on some weekdays, during the day (i.e. between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.), so this meeting is just outside the time I can be present at. Apparently I forgot that I am no longer in EST. I was present for about the first hour of the meeting.
