  1. And what of the "Church of Potato" or "Church of Carrot" or "Church of Sign". Or several thematic builds I've seen on C and P that incorporate a church? Clearly religion is an interesting topic that can be parodied and at the same time be handled with care. Making any arbitrary reference to religion in game or in chat a bannable offense seems too draconian for my tastes.

There's a significant difference between discussing architecture and discussing religion.

  2. This will never have a hard 'yes/no' answer. To some the use of the word gay is acceptable, others may be more sensitive to it if it's been used against them as a slur.

Simple solution. Don't discuss sexuality, religion or politics in open chat. If you wish to discuss this, go into PM or into a clanchat.

  3. I think Aypop has the right idea here, if you think the rules could be shorter and/or something could be worded better, make the changes and post it here. I will work on updating the wiki page taking into account everyone's suggestions.

Here is a copy of the rules if anyone would like to edit them:

Can I do this, or would you prefer someone on staff do it?

  4. My main concern is that nerd.nu/rules is where mods and admins link people to in their ban appeals to read the rules before being unbanned.

Consider this scenario: a new player is banned for breaking a rule. They are directed to the wiki rules page and read them, are unbanned and start playing again, conscious of the rules and even referring back to them to ensure what they're doing is okay. They are then banned for a new rule that hasn't been updated on the wiki rules page, and then they leave the community because of the lack of consistency.

    Is this something we want?

  5. Regardless, you shouldn't have made a post that you knew was going to upset others, especially if you were going to delete it. What purpose did that serve? Yeah we get it, a lot of people don't like you and you don't like them either, keep it to yourself.

No matter how you say it, what you did only caused a negative impact. Not to say that you're to blame because everyone else involved wasn't in the right either. But your post was pointless.

Because 8 months of harassment with nothing being done about it, that's why. I'd had enough.

In hindsight yes, I shouldn't have done it. But you know what? There's plenty of things that others shouldn't have done. Ye who casts the first stone, and all that.

But at least now we have the Community Interaction Policy, and it's being adhered to. May not have done myself any favours but at least the trolls are being dealt with now.
