  1. Again, why no mic? I'm not going to intently watch what will surely be a 1 hour + long video just so I can get the gist of the meeting if I missed it.

Or, am I not reading this correctly and there will be a lead with a mic and the video is purely supplementary?

Personally I find it a bit.. unprofessional, not to use a mic in a mumble meeting.

    Though that's just me.

Or is it going to be lead by someone using a mic?

  2. I was hoping this would be a legitimate discussion thread rather than morons posting shitty pictures.

Sorry. Didn't know that everything had to be all serious. Didn't know we weren't allowed to have fun. Personally, I thought this was just an announcement.

MrLoud claims to be all up for fun, but obviously not. And if you want spam, I can give you spam.

  3. They're getting DDOSed?! I heard it was just a bug...

Yep. Some kid has been DDoSing the server - he's demanding for the ban list to be wiped and for money.

Tried connecting via all option routes no dice. After the server kicked me, I get the error "Failed to connect to the server, Error lookup up user"

A single player remains on C right now.

    Tis a problem with MCBouncer.

  4. How Can Our Eyes Be Real If Mirrors Aren't Real?

Well Taco, I'm afraid I can't tell you the answer to that. You simply just don't even do you?

    Thug life?

    maybe.

Can you model neurons as interconnected cogs instead of circuits?

    Never tried it.

  5. Greatings nerd.nu, plasticflesh here. I come and build on nerd in month long spurts once or twice a year.

I have a strange thought on map expansion, I don't know if it is technically possible, or pragmatically wise: a 'linear map'. Instead of expanding the map outward in every direction from the center 0,0; expand the map in a single direction, with spawn at one extreme of the map, say 'west', and fresh blank expanded land at the other extreme, 'east'. The creative map then becomes a long rectangle instead of a large square. This has a few advantages.

The primary advantage being that freshly expanded territory could be be in larger portions instead thin borders around the square. Perhaps every expansion could be a similarly sized square of land.

A secondary advantage would be a sense of time progression on the map, Spawn would be all the way on the "west" side of the map and presumably more developed, and the fresh-est territory would be on the "east" side of the map and be the frontier for new expansion.

The third advantage is this would encourage a single main road leading through all build areas, traveling through a 'linear' creative map puts all builds on display more easily than the traditional giant square.

But the 'linear map' design has its limitations. Large builds could crowd out smaller builds. The main road, if cutting through the center, could be damaging to all builds if it's one road cutting through the center of everything. This could be negated by making two main roads, a road on the North boundary and a road on the South boundary.

That's basically the gist of the 'linear map' idea.

I can see where you're going with this, however I'm not particularly comfortable with other builds being close to mine, nor having roads near it.

  6. Just to be clear, when you say "seasonal" do you mean a rev every season or have the revs start in better seasons like summer when more people have time off?

    A new rev every season

edit: I'd at least like to see this on C - I think it'd be awesome to see seasonal stuff on C

  7. On the topic of too long/too short revisions, I feel like it'd be kind of cool to have the revisions change with the seasons - 3 months per (nov - jan/feb - april/may-july/aug - oct or whatever is decided upon), but then we could have "themes" this way. I feel like this would actually be pretty awesome to have :D

  8. Everyone is focusing too much on the question itself. There's a greater issue going on here. If someone feels the community is dying, and that feeling is strong enough for them to say something about it, something is definitely wrong. In a way, I feel the community has died. Everyone is separated into their own cliques and friends groups and refuse to take a look into other cliques to get a sense of how they(the other groups) feel about nerd. If I say something that I feel needs to be addressed, and everyone blows it off and tells me I'm wrong, then I'm going to feel that the place isn't really a community.

The amount of players does not matter. Whether we have 300 people or 30 people, if everyone is segregated into groups like we are right now, there's not going to be much of a sense of a community. You don't need a bunch of people to be a community, but you do need to LISTEN to each other, and think about the issues being brought up. You are looking at the numbers wrong, and that concerns me.

On top of all this, some of you are crying about people "stirring the pot" and causing drama, but if you really think that then you'd also know that replying to them would just make it worse. If they are the dramallama that you claim them to be, then ignore their posts. It's your conscious decision to reply, and I understand that sometimes you do need to get the point across, but I've seen conversations taken way too far to the point where it's become a pissing match, even with staff member I've seen it. Shit, I've done it before, I'm not claiming to be innocent on this. But lately it's gotten to the point where people refuse to acknowledge any issues a player they disagree with brings up because of a personal grudge. Do understand, it's also your conscious decision to focus on the unimportant things while there's greater things at hand going on here that's being ignored. I can see why BMX feels this way, but his and my reasons may be different. I want to hear from BMX himself, why he feels this way, and what he thinks we should do to fix it.

We need to truly see past grudges and work together to make this place a family.
