  1. Hey Narissis - do you mind if I go ahead and paste this into the real 'space' map? I'd rather do it now because it can screw up redstone a bit. It also means we can build the 'space battle' around it more easily (and sooner). You'd need to finish it up there instead, but I can warp it for you so it's easy to get to. If possible, I'd rather focus on getting the primary purpose of the ship functional for now (i.e. the challenge of getting to and activating the buff), before thinking about things like loot etc. although I have, admittedly, become fond of renaming bits of paper and books to things like "Spaceship Etiquette vol. 2" and leaving them in chests for no good reason. ~Captain Didy: Space Pirate p.s. Here's the half of the map that we have been concentrating on developing (tiny red scher spawn ship for scale): I've added approximately 10 more things to this half since this map was made, and am currently finishing up adding ore to all the empty rock formations (nearly done). A bunch of amazing people have claimed various rocks to decorate/make unique. This is the main part we could use more helpers on, if anyone is interested. There's also the option to build your own space 'stuff' like the monster in the post above. Once I have finished adding ore, I'm going to start flipping rock formations and pasting them into the other half of the map (mostly because I am extremely tired of building rocks , but also for map balance). The North half of the map I would say is about 50% as complete as this half at the moment. There are still two buff towers to finish, which aren't pasted in yet. I'd like to get them pasted in soon, so I need to speak to the builders again. I don't want to harass techs until the map is more complete, but once the buff towers are done, we'd be in a position to get all the buff and flag type stuff up and running and conceivably be approaching a more technical/testing stage of development. With this in mind, I am trying to compile a list of things I think I might need, or that need to be checked, as well as things that aren't essential but would be fun additions. I'm a bit technically impaired, so I'll potentially be handing over a gibberish list to the techs, but I'm trying to read the previous checklists and threads about past CTFs to give me some idea.   6. Update: 1. As of right now, the map currently contains approximately 35 things that aren't essential/main builds, ranging from tiny to huge, and the plots area has a bunch more that I still need to paste in. We still need volunteers to build things (anyone willing to build large rock formations is basically the King of E right now - I will build you a tiny throne and everything). 2. Zomise has pretty much completed the South West buff, and we've pasted it in the map. 3. Both lime and red team ships and domes are now completed and pasted into the relevant team islands. Spawn-ship builders, please if you get time, could you check your builds are functional after pasting, and add / edit anything you think necessary (thank-you!). Most of the ongoing work right now is just building, and persuading people to build, and then pasting those builds/rocks into the map etc. so there's less to report - but things are moving forward, so please do join in if you can! ~Didy

  8. Hi guys, In order to make it easier for you to get involved with the Fundraiser 2 project happening on E-dev we'd like to announce the following: 1. We're going to try to make sure that there is an EAdmin on the E-dev server every day (starting today) at 22:00-23:00 UTC. We're hoping you'll be able to join us at around this time, so that we can all build together (its more fun than building alone!). Timezones: http://bit.ly/1kcQw2J 2. We have gone through the list and are pretty sure that every staff member is now whitelisted on E. You should be able to join the server by typing /server event-dev. To get to the plots/build area for Fundraiser 2, just type /mvtp admin. Plots you can build in are all surrounded by purple wool. If you can't find a free plot in the size you want, just copy one, merge some, or make your own. Build Examples for Fundraiser 2 THESE BUILDS WILL BE DESTRUCTABLE (So please use materials with fair gameplay in mind e.g. Don't build a whole island out of diamond blocks) Space Rocks (Various Sizes) - Have a look in current plots to see a ton of examples. You can build them out of any common material - but please don't add ores (we'll do that later). Larger Asteroid Fields - groups of rocks would be particularly time-saving for map-builders (No ore yet please). Floating Islands (Various Sizes) - Anything with a flat-ish top that we can use to add builds, materials, animals etc. as required. If you want to make your own island, complete with interesting space relic / alien monster / unexplainable house etc. please do! Think of this as the minecraft equivalent of a strange alien planet. Comets - Want to make a pretty rainbow comet flying through space? Or a lonely ball of ice and rock? Go for it. Satellites, Probes, and Other Floating Technology - If you're feeling like building small to medium scientific looking builds - this is for you! Small Spaceships - ships designed to be scavenged, rather than looted.Anything else of a similar nature. THESE BUILDS WILL BE PROTECTED (So please use any materials you like!) Small Loot Spaceships - Ships designed to be looted rather than scavenged (e.g. contains a loot sign or chest) Larger Spaceships/Stations - Should have a purpose such as containing some kind of challenge, lots of rooms to explore in search of loot, or some kind of involved addition to the general storyline (or any combination of the above).Anything else of a similar nature. Here's some further info, to help you get going: The storyline: Lime Team and Red Team settled on opposite sides of the same sector of space more or less at the same time. Both teams are trying to claim the sector for themselves (it's got some pretty nice mining opportunities) and firmly believe they have rightful ownership of the area. War has broken out between the two teams, and all the native inhabitants nearby are pretty annoyed that the two are constantly battling each other and blowing stuff up in their once peaceful space-neighborhood. It would be great to see builds that reflect the 'current state of affairs'. For example, small lime and red fighter ships locked in combat, or a local colony with a half finished rocket of their own, or a miserable intergalactic sheep-herder with a ball of flames where his farm used to be - you get the idea!   11. Hey everybody - the builder of the third buff tower is having to drop out due to irl time constraints. Are there any volunteers out there who would be willing to pick that up? (You're not picking up a half finished project - it's not yet started). There are approximately four weeks in which to complete this build, based on the schedule, so if you feel that's an achievable time frame, please help us out! If interested, please post here, or pm me, or mail me in game, or send a small trashcan-shaped droid that projects holograms - you know, whichever. Thank you! ~Didy
  12. Another quick update: 1. C45Y kindly loaded my schematic fragments, and after two loooooong server crashing pasting sessions, the red and lime team islands are now ready for their respective team ships and domes to be placed. \o/ 2. Map 'debris' population has begun - anyone who isn't planning on participating in the CTF, and has a particular fondness for //cut, //paste, and //replace - please let me know! 3. Center buff project now underway (thanks Narissis!).
  13. Short update: 1. Switch got an empty world sorted out, named correctly and world-bordered etc. 2. An example team island (250x250ish) schematic is with the other EAdmins to test (I have no idea what I'm doing). 3. Built some wool placeholders in the space map to represent all the major builds (for planning/layout purposes). 4. Zomise has built approximately a bazillion space rocks, and so... 5. Pasted some rocks in to inspire myself - now feeling very spacey. p.s. May have lost wyndysascha in the void a few times... he did not handle it as well as Sandra Bullock. ~Didy
  14. I'm not 100% positive, but having looked around I don't think Red Team has sheep-storage onboard? Do you have any issues with re-purposing that room and moving starter-sheep to the domes? Its probably the quickest way to bring both team set-ups in line with each other, and I'm thinking the domes are likely where the teams will want the sheep to be (near farms etc.)?
  15. Don't know how / who to ask to implement command block ideas, but will try to find out once map is closer to completion. Please excuse MSPaint again... I made this the other day as a concept. The 'dome' is the team's building / supplies base. I can already see a dome might be hard to protect as we would normally do with base walls, so please don't take this as any kind of design guide i.e. it does not have to be a dome (nor glass etc). However, assumptions I have been making are that the base should probably be covered (due to potentially flying/jetpacking players making it too easy?) and that there are NSEW entrances. In terms of interior, I figured we'd probably need some starter trees / dirt, and maybe the various animal mobs (as acquiring them on this kind of map would be very difficult). Small starter farms might also be helpful (there is no grass for seeds). However, I am not a particularly PvP orientated player - so if you can see imbalance in terms of design, or a better way of doing this, please mention it! ~Didy p.s. Update of my own - tried out MCEdit and learnt some basics in order to export a schematic that wasn't missing half the test-island \o/
  16. I think it was mentioned in the meeting that E might be taken down during this change over, but it's not mentioned here that I can see? Is there any confirmation of that (just for planning reasons)?

  18. Hi - quick build progress update: Building works: 3 of 4 4 of 4 flag islands complete (potential for more if needed). Both spawn ships nearly complete until paste into map (and 100% amazing!). Some great 'space debris' being built, ranging from spaceships to rocks to... pacman? FYI - team colors have changed - it is now Lime vs. Red. Help still needed: Looking into WorldPainter for the larger spawn island(s) - does anyone have any good WP tutorials? Still in need of a builder for the center buff (No. 9 on previous diagram post). We need a lot of tiny, small and medium space-related builds to populate the map - can you help? Anyone willing to build rocks is more than welcome! (Save me...) Reminders: If you would like to build and can't find a free plot, please feel free to copy and paste an existing plot to work within. If you want to help, and aren't whitelisted on the server, just post here and we'll get that sorted out! Much love to everyone who is helping out so far! ~Didy

  20. Could it be a similar size to buzzie's ship? Aesthetically, though, whatever you'd like to do is cool. I think the important thing is probably that the interiors contain broadly the same things, so that the game is balanced?

This is a slightly reduced version of what's on trello currently, with the goal of getting something functional going (which could then be added to later, if time allows).
