  1. I'm moving apartments, and etc. I don't expect to be on in any great detail until mid to late January.
  2. "I have a different idea" for Spawn City, that also requires Cardinal Roads. What if the main city plots were only adjacent to the cardinal roads, all the tallest skyscrapers had to be built along the axis. If it worked out you'd have long alleys skyscrapers. Maybe with a CTA rail in the middle. This could also help with lag potentially. I voted for a change to spawn city plots- what if there was some kind of official medieval town? Perhaps this is more of a /warp destination than a spawn city plot. There are a lot of official options for modern style builds. But there is a demand for more rural scenes. I voted for more 'games' like Speed Build, out of hopeful idealism. What about "pictionary"? Or some sort of hide-and-go-seek / man-hunt thing, potentially in the style of TF2's prop-hunt? This might be done without code, by filling the arena with titled armor stands? I also voted for more contests. But I don't know what they could be. But I'm really impressed how the post office and pumpkins turned out, and the lobby contests are always amazing. As a potential new contest: a weekly "Slow Build" contest. Judging occurs Saturdays before Speedbuild. After Slow Build winners are declared, the following weeks theme is declared, perhaps even provided by the winner... but maybe winners can't participate twice in a row? People can jump in during the week. Winners of the Slow Build might get their build added to some official plot for posterity. It could be an interesting addition to the quick-action of the speedbuild and the months-long action of the contest-builds. As for the multiverse worlds. Perhaps they could be better advertised if there is an official Warp Building, and have it very visibly across the street from Spawn. This Warp Building could be organized such to give each warp destination a better presentation for total noobies. I know that there are such warps already located within the Spawn itself... maybe those could be the important warps to get immediately started, basically visualize the /mv tp menu; then the Warp building could be to visualize the /warp menu. Again the reason to do this is to help total newbies explore the map better. Just tossing ideas at the wall to see what sticks. In conclusion, I vote for tons of busywork
  3. I liked this rev's world painted map. However I feel it had too much water. Boat builds are indeed always beautiful, and I understand the desire for cool rivers, but these rivers were more like seas. Another drawback to a world painted map is lack of generated underground content, like caves and chasms. Edit- But we can just WE in caves and stuff. I guess WE'ing a sea for some boats is more difficult. I think having a reductive vote to remove Creative Classic is a bit cruel. I don't use it myself but I appreciate those who do like it. Perhaps scale down the map to make room for other multiverses? I don't know the technicalities. Perhaps the main overworld could be 'zoned' but not plotted, with cardinal roads going through. City zone, surburb zone, pixel zone, ancient antiquity zone (for castles, temples, ancient ruins), derp-zone (I've always thought a zone dedicated to extreme freestyle derp could be interesting), a parkour zone for various parkour maps. Perhaps the cardinal roads could reflect the theme for that zoned area. Roads change to city roads for city zone, rural roads for antiquity zones, derp roads for derp zones. This idea is a little rough because it has so much micro management. Perhaps have a very simple Cardinal spawn building with rules, then a freebuild 'derp' zone around it, then the cardinal roads lead out to the other themed zones scattered around the map. Speedbuild contests are fantastic. Perhaps a similar institution for spleef could be arranged if there is interest. Spleef tournaments? I'm also of the opinion to start the map as big as possible, if only because it will make the cartograph super pretty. With the expanding scheme, anything outside the initial parameter is not rendered in the cartograph. Although, previous cartographs did not have that bug? I do appreciate the optimized landuse the staggered expansion lends itself to though. Schererer's slow build contest idea is cool. Perhaps there could be a 'warp of the month' deal, every two weeks or so a new warp is given honors in the server announcements.
  4. Those glasses are indeed quite fetching! I messed around with some more type options. A legible "nintendo power" version, 1: And abstract art-deco. 2: 3: 4: The negative space can definitely be modified to include noses
  5. Here are some very rough draft .pngs for nerd.nu logo options, with super rough alpha channels to test against colored backgrounds. 1: 'new balance' style. 2: thrasher metal style. 3: gothic style. 4.sans-serif style. 4b. sans-serf style with a quick clean up pass, to get an idea for more pixel-perfect imagery. And here is the unscaled pencil art. http://i.imgur.com/ds3yj0E.jpg As you can see I made all the subtitles way too small, even in 4b. Some sort of drop shadow is necessary for the subtitle, if it's to be background color agnostic. If you fancy one of these I can polish it up. p.s. I used to be "plasticflesh," but I'll be using "aMossyLog" henceforth. Sorry for any confusion / spamming the database.
