  1.

In addition I'd love to see the use of mob-player plug-in to make a game (possibly CTF with additional features) similar to L4D, where players who die become the monsters (permanently or just for a night).

    this

  2. Maybe within a radius of finding it, like portal blocks? "You can move the spawner up to 50 blocks in any direction" or something like that.

Too much leeway means one part of the map will have all the mobs. But a little leeway might be fun.

100 blocks and you have a deal.

  3. Another spawner suggestion, but for the nether! (don't hurt me...)

This time I'm suggestion mob spawners in the nether because when someone is in the nether, farms are all affected by player counts in the nether which means that you can't farm at all, which can happen hours at a time.

Having spawners will stop this and encourage players to explore the nether more.

  4. nerd.nu should keep an eye on lego worlds. Early access just came out, but it looks like an amazing minecraft competitor. (Microsoft must have steam coming out of their ears seeing this after spending 2 billion on minecraft)

  5. There are a lot more...reputable...options available if we wanted to switch our hosting. As it is if you don't count the random $70 server nobody can seem to tell me the purpose of we have a fairly good deal.

Please make suggestions and compare them to other suggestions and our current setup.

  6. Alright!

Also, I found mcprohosting which is another MC hosting server service. it's even cheaper. https://mcprohosting.com/plans?reset=1#/name?plans=mc

Specs for the mcprohosting are We utilize Dual Xeon E5-2620 Processors, DDR3 ECC RAM, Samsung SSDs, and 1 Gbps blended fiber connections on each box!

But for the sake of doing our shopping for the best possible solution for nerd.nu, im going to list a few others.

https://www.minespan.com/plans/   We only utilize enterprise level hardware. All servers are provisioned with dual Intel Xeon CPUs and solid state drives.

    http://ownagehosting.com/minecraft-hosting    x2 Xeon E5-2670v2, DDR3 ECC RAM, And 1Gbps Connection!

Though reviews on google/youtube are going toward ownage hosting and mcprohosting.

  7. I believe contacting them for a custom plan could allow for a different setup to the cookie-cutter options available, meaning we could have more control over maximum users per server, at least during the initial set up.

I agree with this. what I posted was an example of costs, but we definitely need a custom plan.

As for the proposed server specs, you will need to inquire because I cannot find anything about that. But they do have free 24 hour trials to use, to test the waters.

You will need to inquire when you inquire about the custom plan. But I'm hoping for better money efficiency with a better player experience.

  8. I'd like to recommend ways of cost cutting through server hosting.

One thing I found was https://ggservers.net/

Max cost would be $85 per month for a 400 player capacity or scale it down to a 144 player capacity at $36 a month

Since C, and S rarely go over 50 players, you can do the 60 player plan for $15 a month.

So Lets break down some costs.

PvE: $85 per month (if you do the 400 player capacity)

    C: $15 a month (60 Player Capacity)

    S: $15 a month (60 player capacity)

Lobby: $36 a month (if you do the 144 player capacity)

So totaling that up comes down to $151 a month in expenses.

As for web hosting, Most expensive that I see is $6.99 a month

    https://ggservers.net/webhosting.html

    $151 + $6.99 = $157.99 per month.

    $157.99 x 12 = $1,895.88 per year.

Now that's quite the difference from the $3,700 per year quote. That's about a difference of $1,804.12 and that's how much we can save, while providing better servers with more draw distance and minimal lag.

It would be a much better user experience at a much better cost.

The tournament will be inside the Pyramid of Inferno located at 2807, -2541. (Fastest way is through the yowie portal. There will be signs directing you to the Pyramid of Inferno) The prizes will include diamonds, gold, and skulls. Top prize is 3 skulls and 4 stacks of iron blocks along with some gold and diamonds. Following prizes will include gold, and diamonds.

    The rules are fairly simple.

    Shears only.

Armor is not permitted during battles.

If you fall to the bottom first, you/your team loses

If you die, you/your team loses.

If you fall out of the arena, you/your team loses.

Though this spleef arena comes with a twist that is suited for the Pyramid of Inferno. The walls are made of fire and cactus. So if you touch them, you can be slown down as you take damage and even die, which will result your enemy gaining an edge and possibly in a loss.

These will be 1v1 matches with 2v2 matches following the 1v1 tournament.  ( 1st and 2nd place prizes for the 1v1.  1st and 2nd place prizes for the 2v2.)

    Be ready to battle!

  10. Any idea when Rev 16 will be?

I think it would be a good idea to get it started in early june as many players will be returning from School and something fresh would be good, considering that many players will come back to an already developed server.

Im honestly out of ideas on where to put beacons, because All of Avalon is now speed 2.

  11. It's a big project that i did myself today.

It is a very scenic route that you will enjoy the whole ride and there are free mine cart dispensers at each end of the rail.

The best way to get to it is to take the nether portal to Yowie, and then hop onto the Yowie/Avalon railway to Avalon.

This is the first and only 100% operational railway to the maze that includes free carts on all ends. All of avalon is speed 2, so it will take less than a minute to transition from the Yowie/Avalon rail to the Avalon/Maze rail. Happy Riding!

Special thanks to iNerd71 and Wozdaka for the help on the Yowie/Avalon railway

  12. I'd like to see increased spawn numbers in the nether.

And if possible, 2x mob spawns during nights with full moons.

It would be nice to see the server have more of a challenge in that way.

Edit: Increased nether spawns for all mobs because the nether is treated as a candyland for commodities and a shortcut. The nether should be risky and challenging everytime you enter it, leaving you unsure if you will make it out alive. Plus it will give wither farmers a run for their money to have more ghasts, pigmen, lava thingies, blazes, zombies, skeletons, and withers after them.

Suggested spawn rate modifications would be a 50%-75% increase.

If you can inpliment full moon spawn modifiers, i'd suggest a 100% mob spawn increase for the duration of the full moon. (Witches can get a 200% increase for eerie effects)
