  1. One question i have is (p specifically) if a town mayor has the right to modreq to move a building.

Lets say there is a building in a town that is complete, follows town rules, and is not breaking rules what so ever.

Are mayors allowed to say "oh this person hasn't logged on in a while, move it" (without intent to build anything on the land)

  2. As far as donator badges go, maybe give them something in the lobby (small and insignificant). Or, Have a little flair in the forums that says "this player has donated the last month". If it where to go away after a month, then it wouldn't preminently distinguish them against others. Im against having donation badges and special things because for the majority of my time here, i have always been told it wasnt something nerd.nu does. Most people will said we dont really want it to become one of those pay to wins or pay to be diffrent kind of servers.

  3. I'm speaking as a player, not as staff, but IIRC world border will teleport you back 4 blocks from where you go out,

i.e. if there is a border at x=2000 and you cross it at x=2001, y=64, z=0, it will teleport you back to x=1997, y=64, z=0. however if that would place you inside blocks it will teleport you up or down the x=1997, z=0 column to an open are so you won't suffocate.  However if the entire column is full of blocks all the way from bedrock to the build limit (y=255) then it will teleport you to spawn/0,0.

Thats what i remember from screwing with it like 4-5 revs ago. It may have changed.

Well i recall people having issues with it in the past and it apperently being fixed. Last week it took me from y11 to y64

  4. nerd.nu is dealing with some technical issues at the moment.

The techadmins are doing what they can to fix the problem, so don't freak out so much.

Its not so much nerd.nu as it is MCbouncer. And i believe that post is from the original reddit post, to let people who only see the forums know.

  5. Well as some of already know (and for those of you that don't), I have been recovering from a bad motorcycle accident that happened in October of '12. Said accident left me a quadriplegic etc. etc.

Anyway, my most recent endeavor in my recovery was a surgery to repair my locked right arm / elbow on the 25th. Said arm has been in a cast the past week to properly heal post operation. I got the cast off today at my follow-up appointment. Also at that appointment, I learned the doctor not only didn't do what was supposed to be done in the surgery, but in the process of what he did do, he caused massive nerve damage (more then likely permanent) to my lower arm which has left my forearm, hand, and fingers with very little to no feeling and extremely limited movement.

This means that I am incapacitated as far as video games go unless I feel patient enough to try and play with one hand to do both mouse and controls.

I'll still be around as much as I can and I'll  try to hop on from time to time to minecraft / mumble if I'm feeling up to it.

I also have another (unrelated) surgery  scheduled for the 11th too, so who knows what will go wrong with that....

Thanks for everyone's support and granting me modship

Sorry I won't be able to fulfill my mod duties any time soon :/

Ouch, get will soon man! I look forward to seeing you on when you recover!

  6. Meanwhile, 90% of players are having fun on the servers not aware of any of these "issues". Our servers are still full of people and none of them seem to be on the verge of leaving. So no. The community isnt dying...

Now cant we just go back to building?

Edit: i literally giggled when i saw this was a poll.

  7. Difficult1 that was one of the best posts I have ever seen from you. Big +1.

I also always prefer to think of the nerd.nu as one community. Everyone who has been here long enough to recognize their name, I consider family and it does pain me some to see people arguing. We, as head admins try our best to help and improve the community in growth and integrity. I receive criticism and take it to heart.

I hope always that everyone can work their differences out and stick around to watch this community become something even greater than it already is.

It seems to have gotten so bad for the few who seem to express this problem, will go off on you as soon as you say something like "brb need to go to my town on p" or "nah people from c tend to not stay and make a town on p because they rather want to play c (which happened to my c town). I mean, am I really not allowed to mension our own servers on our own servers??

This is a bit off topic, but if any head admins think we can try and remain drama free, by all means make a second post.

  8. I'm one of many who are kinda sick with that so called tension, lots of people just come to the servers to build and play, but apperently some people cause drama for little to no reason. It's sad really. Other then the select few making claimes on the subject, 90% of the time I just find players who A. Are not involved or B. don't even know that the "problem" existed in the first place. I played C for a long time, I played p for a long time, and I played S for a while. Do I think any one group is better then another? No. I for one prefer to see it as the nerd.nu community, not the p/s/c community. Although I'm sure some of the people who disagree with any of this will reply.

  9.

I think it's pretty well established at this point that making it easier for players to understand the rules is a good idea. My main concern is finding a balance between simplification and understanding, to avoid any issues. And as previously mentioned the full set of rules will be clearly accessible.

I don't know about C but people seem pretty good on P about pointing out the rules to people when needed, but leaving the important stuff to the moderators. It should stay that way. I'd like to suggest as a general way of conduct for players that rather than just saying hi to them upon first login(which I'm guilty of as well), people should make sure that new players feel comfortable and help them out by guiding them out of spawn and asking them if they need help getting introduced. I've gone that extra mile a few times and I really think it sets a good example for the servers and improves player retention. I'd like to see that attitude applied to all 3 servers.

In regards to banned blocks jchance I get your reasoning for not telling players what they can't do, but I think in general it's useful for players to know what they can and can't place.

Some other small side ideas I wanted to bring up along this:

    • /rulebook also links to nerd.nu/rules in chat no matter the cooldown
    • Dropping a rulebook gives you a small reminder in chat about being familiar with the rules(not sure how possible that is)
    • Someone else mentioned this but maybe include some alert messages about various rules such as no xray, and make them stand out a bit better. One server I saw uses the random character to add a little movement to it to make it more noticeable, though I can maybe see that getting annoying if used in excess.

Well i think if they can get a general idea of the rules, they will catch on to the more complicated as they play. The /rulebook should be for a more "in depth" look at the rules
