  1. Or, provide a room for the "nexus" that players can choose to place their own colored wool (while having the plugin that makes players lose damage while standing on another wool color).
  2. Or have a point system where once the "nexus" is leaked, the players inside the leaked space base need to 1. Repair or 2. Wait it out (about 5-10 min) until a new nexus appears. Maybe the teams get points for leaking an enemy nexus?
  3. I initially wanted this to be a full 24 hour+ event, so maybe a 3x3x3 obsidian block can be broken in the first hour, as Mrgauthier said. To make the event last much longer, possibly have a block/mob that represents the nexus/oxygen tank with the ability to regenerate durability/health.
  4. That could be a cool feature! I like the abandoned space stations scattered around, that could be fun.
  5. hmm Maybe it could be fun without having hoes.. The miners will need to be able to provide for their team :D
  6. To begin with, the idea first came into my head while I was half-asleep, so the details are lacking, so I hope I can gain some feedback and ideas from posting this here. The initial plan I had was to have a giant Death Star-looking build that fills an entire standard event map (1500x1500) and have players try to get to the center of the death star and blow it up. It isn't easy to blow it up: You need to have several points captured before moving your team closer to the center. However, 1). The building project will take forever, and 2). Immense planning and testing will need to go down. Because this idea didn't seem possible, I came up with a new one: Space Exploration Event Map Size: My plan is to have a large void map (2000x2000). Because this is space, we need to have space bases! The plan is to have four large bases (possibly a sphere with the diameter of about 140) at either the corners of the map, or towards the middle in the 1000x1000 region. The space bases can be multi-layered or open spaced, depending on how you guys want it. This enables players to farm and build buildings inside the space base. Special Feature: This is space, right? Why not let players explore the unknown? I plan to have a room with a sign that says something like, "Click to exit the base". The sign will teleport the player right outside the Space Base on a platform. Here's the fun part: Upon clicking the sign, the player gets a Jump Boost II effect (and possibly other potion effects like Speed I). Because you need to have platforms to jump onto, the space I imagine will be rich with small satellites, moons, and/or meteors. I planned to have some of these platforms have chests that players can take useful loot from (A suggestion by Mrgauthier34: Have the meteors be rich with ores so players can mine). Also, space has no air, players need to have a helmet to survive. It would probably be best if a player wears a helmet before exiting the Space Base or they slowly suffocate to death (Several ideas here: The helmets can be colored glass, and the colors can represent the teams- if that's even possible). On the sattelites, moons or meteors, there can be some useful resource found in the normal Minecraft terrain, like Sugarcane, gravel, grass, water, lava, nether wart, soul sand, spawners, etc. Classes (Optional, all players can spawn with nothing): Because mini games are fun with classes. Miner: Spawn with: Stone sword, Stone Pickaxe, Helmet (So they can mine from meteors). Soldier: Spawn with: Iron sword, Iron chest and leather legs. Farmer: Spawn with: 32 Seeds, 10 bone, assortment of other food. Objective: Currently, I have no objective. I know that I want to have 4 teams with different colors. However, this is just a survival in space, so I think having an objective would be fun. Buff Towers: Just like the last CTF, there were towers with different buffs. Perhaps this can be implemented in a unique way? Nexus: Some servers have a mini game where you need to destroy the core/nexus/wither that is hidden inside each team's base. We can probably have a dragon egg/unique Minecraft block that players need to capture or mine to damage the enemy teams. Space Traders: We can have a setup where players can purchase items from villagers (either inside the Base or somewhere hidden in space) that gives the players items, like helmets, armor, food, potions. Questions: 1. Is any of this even possible? -Is there a way to randomly spawn in different satellites/moons/meteors around the map? Do we have to build it all? 2. Is this balanced well? 3. Can teams enter other Space Bases? 4. Can teams destroy other Space Bases? 5. What do think of having classes? Suggestions: Please leave suggestions and/or opinions below.
  7. With the large space available under spawn, I think that's a great idea, Four. I always get frustrated that I need to suicide/have someone kill me near a bed every time I attend KoTV.
  8. Talking about the 128x128 field, I think it would be interesting to see clans restricted to only a certain portion of that space (and possibly making that area non-PvP zone).
  9. You may have added a period or a space after it
  10. Keep everyone organized. Like nolanater said, make farms, and mine. Those two should be your number 1 priority for the first few hours (Always light up your farms with torches!). If you can, send 3-4 people with armor and swords to capture flags/kill enemies. I did this at the very beginning of the last CTF, and got tons of loot and points. Have a team of killers (me being one of them), and have a team of miners to make you armor, swords, and gather xp. Minigames like KOTH and Fazaden's Race last CTF were huge boosts to your team's points. Try to have several people go to these, too.
  11. Why can't we just ban Strength II... it seems like the only option that actually works and won't take away so much from the game?
  12. Sorry- I accidentally posted my reply before I was done typing. I added the part that says to add some sort of plugin to the server to balance it our instead of removing enchantments and potions.
  13. It's nice that you posted here on the forums, IDANUB, because of how much hatred would go on if this was posted on the subreddit. Let me begin with how I approach these suggestions. I do not want things to be taken away most of the time, and to instead take a different approach. The reason is because of the failed attempt to "bring back PvP" during revision 18 (iirc) really showed me how these kinds of drastic changes that take things away from the game tend to make things worse. By removing certain potions and enchantments, it confuses the new players, and limits our gameplay. Just because something works for you, does not mean it works for the whole player-base. Next, I would like to add my input on what we can do with this suggestion. Add Plugins to Support the IdeaWe can still keep this idea (I do not support it, however), but have plugins to ensure the players understand the changes. During Revision 18, the only thing reminding players about the changes were the signs in spawn (which I'm sure not many players never got to read them) and the subreddit update, which some new players might have not seen. My idea is to have the /enchant plugin implemented, and the options listed out infront of the player as to what enchantments can be made (i.e. /enchant -> "Enchantments: Protection I, Protection II"). We can also have the regular server notifications reminding players that we have limited enchantment and potions (i.e. [server] Note that you can only have up to Protection II enchantments, and Strength Potions are removed!). Remove Focus from PvPI understand that PvP is what the cool kids do on this server, but I think our focus on PvP is too much. Many players come and go for the reason that they either hate the PvP, or hate the "vanilla-ness" of the server. As many people have heard, read, seen, or discussed, "S is Dead". Yes, that may be true due to our low player base during the endings of revisions, and the boring aspect of it all. This is the case because of how attached we are to vanilla Minecraft (Also: no beds, D:). I'm not too sure about this part of S, so I won't get too into it- this is not my business. But I do want to see drastic changes on this server to increase the player count and fun. Events that heavily rely on plugins are often huge successes (including ones that don't have PvP in them!), but the Technical Admin assistance demand is very high. So I understand that moving away from vanilla Minecraft is quite complicated. By removing the focus away from PvP, having these Strength and Regeneration potions, Enchantment, won't play a big effect on our server. We need to have a different kind of competition that doesn't heavily involve PvP on our server (I know factions are hated by this community, I won't talk about that). I don't have any ideas on me right now, as I have other things to worry about, but that is like a "discussion-opener". With that said, I'm not too crazy about this idea, especially because it takes away major aspects of Minecraft. I'd like to see instead other ways of approaching this issue, or adding plugins to balance it out (which I don't have any ideas on).
  14. Pros Efficient PvP No Accidental Friendly-Fire Can also organize clans in entirety Cons By not damaging teammates, PvP fights would be more in favor of whichever side has the most people Makes the server more on the "PvP" side rather than "Survival" Arena FFA fights will be in favor of the largest clan. With that, I would like to add what I think that is not mentioned above. It's a good idea, and it is something I might like implemented. I've seen it a problem especially with the server lag that I hit my own teammates during PvP fights, which might in turn cause my team to lose.
  15. +1 And levykm, that sounds awesome :O Just add some extra "fun" stuff in addition to the Zombie survival. Like... feast every 20 minutes or something consisting of chests filled with goods? Would it be 4 teams, 2 teams, etc.? (Like KOTH in CTF, have some mini-games in addition to the main event). Of course, this is just an idea, but I think I like this one.
