Darkelmo, Feel free to read up on LogBlock and what commands are available for it. for instance... I can run a command on C that will return all the wool edits. This took me approximately 10 seconds to type the command, 10 seconds for it to pull the records from the database and another 20 or so seconds for me to post the results here.

Actually this is exactly what we do. We can run a command that will return everyone who has mined a diamond in the last 24 hours and the total amount of diamonds they have mined in thr last 24 hours. It will take me approximately 2 minutes to look it over. We do not single anyone out and check their edits anymore than anyone elses and yes, We will always look through a moderators edits just the same as any other user if their edits look suspicious. No one is above the rules on the servers.Alright, for a third time, I'm pretty sure the mods don't just randomly browse everyones diamond edits every morning, I was wondering what causes them to look at this information in the first place.
To be clear. We do not target any players. We have commands that return suspicious activity and then we start the investigation process from there. We do not ban without proof and we do not ban on a suspicion.

I think in this case, we should cater to the player here, not the convenience of staff.
I agree, however it does seem that in this case, the user base seems to want an application to become staff. I feel that instead of just not giving them one, we just add something into the application that states something along the lines of "Not everyone who applies becomes staff, if you are one of these people do not let this dishearten you, instead ask what you might do to better yourself and possibly try again later."

I'd add in that applicants must have been at the server for a minimum of say 2-3 months although I don't think a short essay would be necessary
My theory behind the essay is, It doesn't have to be long, It will show how much someone really wants to become staff (i.e. it requires at least some dedication to write an essay and will show that they are serious about wanting to help). It will also give us less of the "Hey, I'd like to be a mod (and that's all I'm going to write)". and lastly, and essay could show grammar and maturity levels, which I believe are important traits for staff to have since staff members are representitives of nerd.nu

I had posted this in barney's post. These are my feelings about this:
" I am not opposed to this idea, however if something like this were to take place I would have a format that went something like the following:
1 Users would only be able to submit an application once every other round of voting
2 Applications would only be collected from the submissions once every 6-8 weeks to be voted upon. (please don't submit more than one in this time period)
3 User would have to write up a short essay (minimum of 1 paragraph) of why they would like to become a mod.
Again, these are just my personal thoughts and in no way reflect the views of nerd.nu "

Seems as though a few months ago you were on our creative server and decided to destroy some things. Please go reread our rules at http://nerd.nu/rules and reply back here stating that you understand and will abide by them from now on.

Okay random,
Unfortunatly we aren't going to let you come back to the servers. I have found instances where you have circumvented your ban and came on the server while you knew you weren't welcome here. You just logged onto our chaos server a few days ago, you tried your Randomdoor account and knowing that you were still banned from the message that came up after trying to login, you then logged in with an alt accout. It is clear that you haven't changed and still have no respect for our rules.
I wish you well on your future endeavors, however you are no longer welcome here.

Randomdoor, At this point in time I am still going to uphold the previous decision for the ban from our servers. However. I will discuss a possibility of removing the mumble ban with the other heads. Please give me a day or 2 to make contact with them and come to a decision.

How is xray detected?
in Minecraft General
Posted
I can do the same thing on P or S for any block on the server. I can run the same command and modify it for diamond edits. There's no way to cheat that system. If you are going to try to skew your diamond to stone ratio with xray then normally we can tell because we can see a player who finds a ton of diamonds in a short period of time and then mines a ton of stone to try to make up for the ratio.
By the time a player has to go through all the trouble of trying to not get caught xraying. It would have taken just as much time to mine diamonds legitimately and you won't have to worry about getting banned either.
