  1. In light of a couple semi-recent bans and a recent post on the subreddit, I'm proposing a few questions to the staff:

What will you do when someone with a similar name to a staff member, who's never been on the servers before or even know of the people/server, joins?

Are they gonna get banned on the spot?
Are you going to tell them to change their name or leave?
How is that any fair to the person?

While the probability of it actually happening may be low, I am curious as to how this would be handled.

  2. It shows that there are deeper problems than returning players.

    This is my point.

The point remains if you are so fed up that you want to leave just do it. The blaze of glory is childish.

Then you have no reason to be on these forums. We don't need the input of people who don't participate in the nerd.nu community we are trying to rebuild here. Later man.

Wow, rude much? I'm fed up enough to want to leave, but people leaving/being driven away is part of what's killed the community to begin with. Just because he's not part of the servers doesn't mean he's not part of the community. Nerd is much more than Minecraft, IRC, and Mumble.

  3. EeHee, remove the thing about allahu akbar and being a twat also that is shit not funny or cute. I'm not on staff, I don't have power I'm just a person who wants to pretend he is interacting with mature adults.

Why? It's not hurting anybody to have it there. Leave the kid alone, he has to deal with enough shit on here already.

I get grouped with people I hang out with simply because I hang out with them, and that in itself is a part of the problem when it shouldn't be. People automatically assume I'm going to act like them when I don't. You can't judge someone fairly by who they hang out with. But then there's the other problem - your "fun" is different from mine, and Mags, and Eehee's, and Four_Down's, and TornadoHorse's, and Tobylane's, and everyone else's. Why the hell should our "fun" be limited to what the a certain group thinks is fun? We're a community, we're gonna have our little groupies, we're all gonna find fun in different things. Yeah, I get that there are times when things cross the lines, but at this point, nobody's willing to compromise so that at least, everyone can be a little bit happy. We get ignored or not taken seriously when we're being serious. It's starting to feel like "conform to us or we ban you".

Fuck, I can't even say what I want to half the time because people are overly sensitive and would insist I'm trying to "start drama".

  4. This is the price of playing on a public server that does not have builder ranks, etc.   Everyone can build, and they can build what they want.  The cadmins don't dictate what people build, and I don't think fragmenting such a small server population in to multiple themed servers is the right answer.

Then maybe we should have a bigger map?
IIRC PVE has a way bigger map than we do, and in terms of how spread out people's builds are, I'd say they're far enough apart that finding space isn't a problem (judging from the live map, but the livemap is a bit deceiving at times). I mean let's be honest here - I shouldn't have to spend 2 hours looking for a place to do a big build because every spot I find is either inhabited by small builds, or the perfect spot that's been claimed by someone's region for a city that's going to get mutilated because their city needs to be flat.

Another possible solution is just to make the map bigger.  With sprint-flying, teleporting, warps, etc, the map could easily be a lot bigger.  Disk space isn't an issue either, I have a world that is 28,000 blocks on a side, and it only takes up 14 gigs.

Or maybe enforce shorter revisions. With all the talk we've had about having shorter revision (3-4 months) it seems pretty null when it's not enforced. I'd have thought the rev would've reset with the new year - as it's been 5 months already. Also expanding the map on need rather than a set schedule like we do now should help.

  5. Can we have another like, "world" specifically for city builds (this would include "floating" cities)?

I don't like that cities take up majority of the map - it makes it look a little messy, and I feel like having a separate area for cities would make the cities look more unified in a way (community projects anyone?). Plus I wouldn't have to worry about my build interfering with someone's city expansion, as I'm never sure how far out would be okay for me to build. On top of this, there's so many small builds everywhere so it's hard to find a decent area away from people's builds to do a large scale building.

If not, at least, take this into consideration.

As of now - I've spent the past hour or so looking around the map for an area reasonably distanced from people's builds to do another large scale building and so far I've no dice. I personally would like to see how doing something like this would affect how the map looks as well, even if you only do it for 1 revision to see how it works out.

I'm not sure how else I would go about this.

  6. Spawn was built by myself and redwall on my personal whitelisted private server, as evidenced by not only the sadmins at the time, but also buzzie and TheRandomnatrix, who I invited to see it.

From what I've been told by mods and admins, spawns are staff made only, and have always been as such.

The hot tub is there with our names on it, because we built the fucking thing. If I built it with Mumber it would have had his name on it too. Why are you making a big deal over this *now* when the rev has been out for months? I know you don't play on S at all (which raises the question of why you even care)

A simple "made by so and so" sign would've been fine with a sign by it "the super secret hot tub". Some people here took it as a sexual connotation and mentioned it as such. Others took it as a "showing off my relationship" kind of thing because, coincidentally, it is made by you and your boyfriend. Unlike a few people here, I care about the overall servers and take people's concerns into consideration and make an effort to have them addressed or at least noted by the staff. Had I known you were still around (considering you made a big deal about leaving and never coming back), I would've just pmed you.

it's fairly normal for survival to have player made spawns, unlike PvE and creative.

Fair enough. Though apparently this is not known throughout all the staff, and this can cause confusions, like of now.

I'm asking for a former Sadmin to confirm this though, just to be sure.
