  1. You appear to have been warned more than once fairly recently for this sort of thing, as the notes tompreuss posted show. While frustration with with mobs killing you isn't typically accepted as an excuse for not replanting, I'm inclined to be lenient in this case.

You are unbanned as of now, but please familiarize yourself further with the rules and avoid this behavior in the future.

  2. You say you're looking for ways for us to stand apart from other servers, yet our current system rejecting ranks or trusted groups is a great thing that sets us apart from many, many others. The only "incentive" we should have for playing on these servers is the joy of playing with friends. Becoming a moderator or an admin should not be an incentive - mods have no legitimate advantages in gameplay over that of everyone in general, only duties and the tools necessary to fulfill those duties.

This x10. The egalitarian nature of Nerd is a major part of the network's identity, and one thing I miss terribly when playing games (of any kind) on others' servers. No donor perks, no ranks.

  3. Well, it's been about two days, and I haven't seen any signs of Bestor. I don't see any point in waiting any longer, so I will be taking over your appeal. You seem honest and aware of the rules, and you've technically been banned far longer than the typical length for x-ray.

So, consider yourself unbanned, and welcome back to Nerd.

  4. Ban information:

Ban for jonnykrass on c.nerd.nu for xraying - nerd.nu/appeal by Bestor on 2012-06-27 23:59:25 (no more bans, no notes)

Please be patient and Bestor will be with you soon. If nobody has responded within 48 hours, feel free to bump your appeal.

  5. It would also just force towns to grind for things, or treat people as a resource towards getting a portal through player activity, both of which I feel aren't productive.

Bleh. I'm all too familiar with that. An MMO I used to play had a "guild level," which was required to be of a certain rank for the members to get certain perks, and it would decay over time unless players were active. This, of course, meant guild leaders would constantly kick players who weren't active enough to be contributing to the rank.

  6. Well, if it is PvP, and you spawn near your own area, it makes it hard to break a whole 3x3x3 cube before people respawn and come kill you.

Unless you log on at off peak hours. I know I scored a few times in CTF by waking up early on the second day. :D

  7. Mrloud, cab, Draykhar and I have come to a consensus: we're definitely open to trying an alternative to SafeBuckets in the future. (Such as roastnewt's proposal, for example.) The caveat being that it should only be done at the start of a new revision, so we don't break things or confuse players.

Edit: The above mention of roastnewt's proposed solution is not an endorsement of a particular plugin. Merely an example.

  8. No, there is not a way to put a delay on warps. (At least, not without extensive additions to the sign plugin.) Allowing /warp wouldn't work either, for numerous reasons, one being that there are plenty of warp points that should not be public. (For example: it's not uncommon to set warp points to, say, the control box in an arena, to make it easier to manage the event.)

I do have good news, though: The usual /spawnme command will work for the event. Tharine pointed out in the subreddit that it should be easy to reset its target temporarily, so I checked up on the CH script that runs it. So I'll get that set up later.
