  1. I made you another buff temple (still needs to be pasted in near the volcano):

The buff trigger (a button in the center) lights up the portals and the pool where the button is with redstone when pressed. I imagine this buff temple being more of a fight for control area, rather than a challenge to reach it like the mushroom temple.

And I raise you a frog design (in the admin world next to your own) :P :

  2. misc question on the obstacle course race. When I get to the end, how do we identify the winner without having a ref present? I have a timed starting box so nobody needs to kick off the race but do we use punch signs? I'll have some sort of winners box but what do we do officially? I'll be online tonight 6:30/7pm eastern if anyone wants to chat in game (most likely on mumble too).

Perhaps have them grab a custom book from a chest to present to a judge for a prize? I or someone equally handy with redstone could also build a "winnner's chamber" that seals upon entry.

  3. I've been thinking about dropping the other pieces inside the dense jungle but I'm worried they will probably not be found - should I plant them more towards the outer edges where they can be found?  Maybe try to cluster them together to look like ruins of a city?  (Not confident I can pull this off :S)

I had a similar problem with the buff tower on the mushroom island, I wasn't sure players would know it is possible to get to the top. Hence I modreq'd that a region message be added letting players know they can get to the top.

Similarly you could add a few regions with messages near the jungle telling them "A chill runs down your spine, like someone walking over your grave, as your eyes pass over the denser part of the jungle." "A delectible smell like roast pork wafts through the air from somewhere among the trees. You hope against hope that it isn't the cannibals." "Looking at the dense foliage you remember the stories your crazy uncle told you about lost civilizations deep in the jungle."

Also signs and broken road paths could work.

  4.   MasterCommaThe - would it be okay to embed the sculpture there?  If you'd rather it not be visible from the village, I have a few other sites picked out that I can go to instead, and I'll clean up the existing copy.

The villagers in fact worship the face in the mountain as their god. Moving it elsewhere would probably inspire an apocalyptic fervor.

  5. For expediency, does anyone have the ability to copy and paste any of this rev's Creative Shipwreck building contest entries? I don't know where they went to once it was finished.

Sorry for the silence the last couple of days, IRL family visit, but I'm back. The fishing village was just something to move me past my mental block on what to build for a temple on mushroom island, but feel free to change it to make it a functional element if you can think of any purpose for it.

  6. In case you all were interested, the mushroom island buff temple is complete! The actual "buff station" needs to be put inside the horse with the glowing eyes to finish it off. If anyone knows how to get rid of the lighting errors on the other horses, your secrets would be appreciated.

  7. In case you all wanted to see some progress, here is my work on the Mushroom Island buff temple. Three of the hoofprints house secret passages to the rim of the bowl. The 4th hoofprint has a mechanism to allow players to get into the hoof and then up into the horse.

I still need to make a way to get up to the rim, and will gladly take any help. Right now there is just a ladder. I think I'm going to try to make a series of mushrooms players need to climb.2015-05-12_11.02.22.png2015-05-12_11.02.37.png

  8. Something time-consuming that still has to be done is flying around the outer ring of the map (in a square either greater than 500 or 750 out from spawn, can't remember which) and fixwatering all the cave generation that cut through the sea. I got pretty much all the stuff within the aforementioned boundaries, but there's still a lot to fix.

    Sounds good, I claim it.

  9. Eehee, thank you for engaging this thread in a mature way. I would feel respect for you if all my interactions with you were of this quality. I hope you continue it consistently in the future since you clearly recognize what less positive interactions have resulted in.

You and I don't have that many interactions overall, so I hope you'll see me as impartial and non judgemental. To that end I will try to discuss what I have observed in this post, and not my own feelings, just philosophy of the situation.

The unfortunate nature of your circumstance is that some of your previous interactions have earned you a negative reputation, even to people that don't commonly interacted directly with you. That reputation is now coloring the staff's consideration of your best intentions. This occurrence is normal human social exchange and bias used to effectively perform a cost-benefit analysis for sorting good sources of ideas from the bad. While your current interactions may be good, people rank the value of information sources based on their historical performance and the experience of others. In this way a person will attempt avoid a negative experience if they have had a negative experience in the same circumstance in the past, or if they know of other people who have. These factors are summarily known as reputation.

I don't dislike you at all, but I will admit that I avoided commenting, and for a while even reading this forum post, because I was aware of the negative experience that others (both staff and your own friends) were having related to it. My own reputation is affected by what I even comment on. Whether I make a profound independent statement or simply concurrence with another person's viewpoint. To that end, who I associate with colors my reputation too, albeit to much less effect than my own actions.

My point is, everything you do affects how we perceive you and by effect treat you. Overcoming a negative reputation is hard. I will admit that I have mistakes in the past that others may remember, and I work every day to ensure those are not the foremost consideration in their mind. You have a potentially long road ahead to doing the same based on the comments I've seen in this post, but that is not unachievable. You can't change your past, and that may make you feel helpless. I urge you to take what you've learned, don't expect immediate results, and work towards being a player we all respect and listen to. I think you can be valuable, if you will accept that your past gives us trouble accepting that now and work through that difficulty with grace like you have here.
