  1. This already exists.

    http://redditpublic.com/wiki/PvE

"The PvE (Player versus Environment) server allows players to battle the environment and mobs while working with, instead of
against, other players. The emphasis is usually on collaborative building and friendly competition. The entire map is PvE, without player-on-player damage, with limited exceptions for a few PvP-enabled arenas."

  2. Maybe don't allow armour to be equipped when PvP protection is on, and instead send a chat message saying "run /blahcommand to disable pvp protection before you can armour up"?

This wouldn't prevent a player from holding armour in their inventory, locking players out of their bases, or activating traps. In my opinion, the pvp timer should block the new player from interacting with anything until disabled. The timer should only be used to allow the new player to reach their desired build location.

  3. I think there should be weapon enchant signs. It could add a whole new level of competition and informal matches with intuitive ideas constantly being brought up by the community. No need to downvote me, just explain why you'd be against this. Of course, this doesn't mean it would have to be set at any level, perhaps overpowered things such as Sharpness V could be decided by the community.

Maybe even a random enchant setup feature would be fun.

It is an interesting idea, but I feel that enchanted items would have a negative effect on the way KOTH is played.

  4. If you do make an edit they don't like you'll most likely find it reverted

Unless the mineshaft runs through something that is clearly marked as part of a base it will most likely not be reverted. With such a small distance between bases near spawn and such a high number of mineshafts branching off each base, it is nearly impossible for a player to determine which shaft belongs to which base.

  5. The block in question on mumble was bookshelves.

Are bookshelves considered grief bait because if anyone destroys them they have to get wood to make another and replace it. Or is it not considered grief bait because it is easy to do that.

Like glass and smoothstone, the materials for bookshelves are easy to obtain. I would not consider them griefbait.

  6. If what you are doing bothers or harms another player, and you realise this, and yet you still do it.

    That is being a Dick.

The DBAD rule isn't something that should ever be used to "get people banned" that bother you. (From your previous posts, this is what it looks like you want to use this for) It is an admin catch all for "special circumstances", and that only.

  7. Bottom line if its one person killing you tons. Modreq leave, dont retaliate.

What type of shit environment are you trying to create? Try resolving PvP conflicts with PvP. Players that share your mentality are what make PvP on S non-existent.

  8. I'm really liking this idea. If it were possible to alternate spawning locations as you suggest, that seems like it'd make beds viable. Allowing beds on s would open up a lot of possibilities and new gameplay imo. There would be more far out bases, outposts, communities/cities, people would need to explore the map more to find other players. And it might potentially reduce quite a bit of the dickish gameplay that s is plagued with, such as spawn/base camping.

A more spread out map is the last thing S needs right now, IMO. It is hard enough to find players to fight the way the map is set up currently.

  9. Instead of always respawning at Spawn, maybe there could be a random chance of respawning somewhere else? Like you only spawn at Spawn every third time, with the other two being at a random overworld location (on land, of course).

I see this doing more harm than good. The only group that it would benefit would be those getting spawncamped, which is a very small number. Getting placed at a random location on the map would be more of an inconvenience than anything.

  10. The real camping issue is base camping.

Secondary bases and placing a few chests outside your primary base make this not an issue. If a player is inside your base, go grab gear from your secondary base and kill them. If you lack the resources to do so, now is the perfect time to gather them.

  11. Ye, I had to modreq TornadoHorse yesterday because on redstone road, he built a small platform on the sky and killed anyone who went near him. I walked down it a few times but kept getting killed.

Isn't that being a dick? Because anyone who leaves spawn might walk down that road and get killed.

I believe that you were at fault in this situation. Your destination could have been reached easily with an alternate route. There is no need to get rustled when you are making the decision to approach players who are holding pointy things.

  12. I would define spawn camping as repeatedly killing a player right outside spawn (right under the drop onto the road). No more than that.

If a road is being camped, any destination can be reached easily with portals or an off-road route.

  13. Don't be a dick needs to be enforced... Harshly. Especially if we are going to advertise.

I disagree. The rule exists only for "special circumstances." A rule as vague as DBAD shouldn't be something that is tossed around on a daily basis.

Camping is a big fucking issue, There tons of new people on, but when they ask for help, everyone tries, but they end up getting spawn camped anyway. (the only reason i ever made it to a plot is that i knew people, and they helped me.)

This has already been addressed, camping the spawn point is against the rules.
