  1. Ban appeals sometimes are interesting to read, but compared to real discussions, there are just too many of them. Is there a way for me to hide ban appeals from the new list and turn them on when I'm actually interested in reading them?
  2. Not to me or to anyone else I know of. I'm just gathering opinions at the moment.
  3. Popping in to say I may not have time at the very beginning of the rev to work on CTA (since I also have a time sensitive project planned), but I would be willing to work on it once that project's done. (BTW, for some reason I really like the melon rails for 8bit.)
  4. Someone showed me yesterday that you can use /give on other users. The command could be useful for giving kits to people if they're in a construction crew, but could also be abused by filling someone's inventory with useless blocks. Considering we have /i, if the risk becomes too large, could /give be disabled?
  5. That was me. I would primarily use cave radar to check on dig progress, and maybe for exploring if I managed to find a cave that's open from the ground. Aside from that, there's also player radar. It's already enabled on P, so I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be enabled on C. It would make it easier, at least for me, to see if anyone's teleporting in, since I keep my tpmode on allow.
  6. Nothing major here. I was logging in to Mumble from a new computer yesterday, and noticed the server's using self-signed (aka default generated) certificates. Considering nerd.nu does have a SSL certificate, why not use that for Murmur? I'm a networking noob, but assuming there are no problems with the allowed domains on the certificate, it should work on Mumble and there would be less doubts about the identity of the server (not as if there was any in the first place, but whatever).
  7. I'm trying to build NerdBukkit for hosting local C revs, and I noticed the server uses a plugin called removeframes. I haven't found it on the NerdNu GitHub account nor with a cursory search on Google. Just wondering where I can get the plugin.
  8. I know there was a recent server change for the Wiki, so I understand that things are not working 100%. But could someone fix the Carto, since it hasn't been updated for 10 days? Also, the current C carto needs an expansion since anything beyond 2500 isn't showing up. And of course, please regenerate C rev 23's carto so the entire map is shown.
  9. Well, do we want realistic trains on the track?
  10. It looks like there's a new version of WorldGuard that fixes this problem, released ...two months ago. Please, can we update? Relevant changelog in 5.7.4.
  11. +1 It would be useful, like having private kits. Even better if the sets can be shared between players.
  12. I just noticed the new code for /pl. So now we can't be honest about what plugins we used? If the output isn't going to truthfully reflect what's actually running, why have the command in the first place?
  13. Someone made a nice Blue line from spawn to Spleef. I enjoyed the way the outdoor portions were built. BTW, can the remnants of the old Blue line on this rev be gotten rid of? It's ugly and doesn't go anywhere in particular.
  14. Duly noted (I am guilty). Here's a copy and paste of what I said on my build planning thread, to keep everything in one place.
  15. Why are the logs processed only between restarts? I assume a script pushes it somewhere after the server stops. Why not have a service for that run in the background? To me it sounds like a non-issue.
  16. Should we have a separate forum section for planning threads? I think it's necessary to plan out far ahead if I was to build my spawn clock. I could do it on the subreddit, but the submission would probably get lost and the comments out of order.
  17. With 1.6 released, I think it's a good time to start planning for large builds that I want to participate in for rev 25. I currently have thought of three projects: 1. Spawn clock I remember there was a clock at the beginning of this rev right outside of spawn. I'm not sure why it was taken down, but I would like to do something like that for the next rev. I'm thinking of building a large white box of sorts with a display that has a range of 0 to 9999 in game days. I want it to have a mural that represents the Nerd servers, and maybe a cafe thing inside/under if I can work it out. I don't know how to do solid state with redstone, so it'll be mechanically driven. I have some prototype mechanisms in my Dropbox, one of the mechanisms demonstrating how the counter mechanisms work and the other demonstrating a LCD driver prototype. Right now these are the things I'm trying to figure out: A. Size. I need to set a size suitable for being near spawn. If the spawn is like this rev, it can't be very large. If there is a road leading out from spawn, the clock can stretch along the road. I think the clock that was here earlier was around 50 blocks wide. B. Location. I want it to be immediately outside spawn, but chances are I can't make it on to the server when the rev starts. If all the details are planned out ahead of the time I'll need someone to mark out and reserve a spot. C. Redstone. I am not great with redstone, so I'll probably need help with engineering. I'd be grateful for help, especially if the circuits need shrinking. I don't anticipate lag problems, since it'll activate once every 20 minutes only. I'm hoping it won't go out of sync due to unloaded chunks, but there should be people at spawn often enough to keep the clock running. I'll upload a scan of the couple planning pages I made if anyone's interested. 2. Dome7 I heard Magnyus wants to head this, so it's really up to him what he wants to do. I'll just throw my similar idea (Sphere1) out there. I envision a glass sphere that reaches from bedrock to sky limit. It will contain a tree in the middle, and off of it will be many branches that terminate in islands, which form plots to build on. The focus is away from towers or industrial buildings but on modest sized residential and small shops. 3. CTA There wasn't much planning for CTA this rev, so the resulting rails weren't that good. I heard the plan for next rev was to keep it mostly underground, with a few sky rails. I personally think there should be a good mix of underground and above ground rails. I thought the pure underground rails of last rev were bland. Some say above ground rails cut through builds and make the map look ugly. I don't really agree. I think it's important to make the rails and supports look visually attractive and build them early. That way people can incorporate rails into their builds and it would look more natural. For an example of a visually attractive rail line, see CTA Blue that runs from spawn to Spleef to Cornerstone.
  18. I think I remember 6 hour restarts being trialed a week before the servers were upgraded to 1.5. Not sure what came off that.
  19. I think free-to-play games make good choices. I've got a Warframe account. If the NVIDIA and ATI promos are still available, we can do HL2:DM, even though it's a bit old.
  20. So is this an invitation for people who play on these servers to play something on Steam or to advertise the servers on Steam?
  21. I'd worry more about the reverse where people can find out who you are.
  22. Two more commands noted from sources: /armor up/down: Gives or takes away chain armor (C only, obviously) /drama: Just type it.
  23. On behalf of skyassassin555, I announce a new Facebook page for the Nerd servers, or specifically for C. https://www.facebook.com/c.nerd.nu Please direct all inquiries to skyassassin555. (Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with this page.)
  24. Running current maps with heads on vanilla servers already causes all such heads to become a Steve head. My suggestion is on placing, not the way placed heads are stored on the map.
  25. I don't care if it's aesthetically pleasing. But many choose to spam them without rhyme or reason. If it's inside their own build, I don't care, but on the outside or on builds they don't own it's annoying.
