  1. weekly spleef matches and pvp matches going into a tournament. We used to have great spleef events that attracted a lot of attention we should bring it back.
  2. I don't build much when it gets to the 4-5 month mark just the odd small house. I end up not building for around 2 months before the end of the revision I don't think it's going to make any difference to game play having set restart dates. This does tie in very nicely with my revision lengths post and does have a nice twist on it, thanks for posting this Kittypuppet. I'd like to see this happen at least as a test for a revision or two.
  3. Well I have made a clanchat on creative and on pve, so I may as well turn it into a city on pve. Boobville should hopefully be arriving next rev.
  4. I didn't vote to just keep up votes, I wanted all the voting system removed as it does nothing for discussions. However the majority of players that took part in the vote wanted to keep up votes. Not my preference however that is what the majority of players want and it seems like a good compromise. This wasn't made because staff went on down voting sprees it was made because players wanted it removed.
  5. Moderators look for players that show maturity and that understand the rules, they then suggest these names in a brainstorming thread, names are also given to moderators to put into the thread by other players or through nerd.nu/applyformod, any points as to why the player would or wouldn't make a good mod is brought up in these threads, then going on the situation of which server requires more moderators at the time and which players had the most support in the brainstorming thread, a list of candidates are made by the head admins, these players are all messaged to see if they are alright with being put into a voting thread, if they are alright with it they are then put into the voting thread where the moderators vote yes, no, or don't know well enough. These votes are then taken into account by the head admins along with any concerns players have with the candidates to help the head admins make a final decision. The mods that are selected by the head admins are then trained up by a head admin and some server admins. You probably know most of the stuff already diff but if that is the whole selection process.
  6. We are able to discuss matters in public chat and that is good, the admins are paying attention to this. Now Slide shouldn't have made some of his comments and he was corrected by a lot of players but the point has been made. By continuing we are just proving that we can't have matters discussed by the general community.
  7. So far the community wants to just keep up votes. If this remains the same how long should we wait before changing it to that?
  8. I personally don't see the point in them, they seem to distract chat away from the topic in hand over to who is giving you comment karma.
  9. Put in your votes and discuss the up sides and down sides to votes on the forums.
  10. Ok well a few things have come off this thread, up vote down vote system should it be removed? I would like to say that the question of this thread has been answered by Dumbo and Mrloud, it's been made clear it was a mistake to close it, we all make them. I personally wouldn't reopen the thread as the same question has been asked in more detail in neva's other thread. I feel some of these tangent topics coming off this thread are for another thread, this one seems to have run its course I give permission for it to be closed however I will open another one bringing up the topic of up votes and down votes. Feel free to open up any other threads with your questions. Thanks for the response to my question.
  11. Letsbfehr? LETSBFEHR?!!!? did letsbfehr have a daily ladycailin? I think not.
  12. This sounds like an excellent idea we should at least have a steam group section seeing as we have an extensive steam community and it's never really made use of officially. It also could tie in a little with that misc admin idea someone had about appointing someone to organise out of minecraft events on things like steam. +1 to this idea from me.
  13. Can I please mention as I have had people come and accuse me of it, this is not a hate thread, this was created because I had a question. I do not dislike anyone and it's rather stupid to assume otherwise.
  14. The player could request which server to be modded in. A lot of mods already don't bother going over to the other servers and often when someone has a load of no votes they will not be modded, I was fairly sure depending on the voting thread mods with a certain percentage of no votes very often didn't get in.
  15. People have been pointing out that some people are getting voted no on by mods they have never spoken to or interacted with instead of getting voted i don't know this player. The reason I was a bit upset with the thread being closed was because it'd be good to hear everyone's opinion on the matter.
  16. but what is the harm of having mods for all 3 servers voted in by the mods on their own server that know them best? They will still go through the same training but they will have avoided the chance of the other mods not knowing them due to not going on the same server.
  17. https://nerd.nu/forums/index.php?/topic/2462-new-poll-should-mods-only-be-voted-on-and-have-powers-on-one-server/ "We have discussed this before and have no intentions of implementing it." There seemed to be quite positive responses to this, I don't think it should be taken down before the community had a chance to fully express their thoughts on the matter.
  18. we put ourselves into survival mode to get more like past creative (no flight not insta break) you can still /i items so it's not really anything like pve apart from the fact you cannot fly. When survival changed to this style of gamemode it brought a lot of new players in that play on servers that run that type of gamemode. It also scared a lot of our older survival players off. By saying don't change it so we don't split the players that's essentially saying, lets make half the server play a gamemode they don't actually want to play to please the other half.
  19. But it's a different style of server, s players would join s and the players that like the style of server that is up now will join that, I don't see where anyone loses in that. That's like saying we should never have split off from just being a creative server to having pvp and pve because it would split off the c players. (obviously not that extreme but still.)
  20. He said who he was. But if nobody actually does know a player they won't get through voting usually. If he did and nobody knew who he was for a while it'd either become clear who he was later or people would get to know the guy with his new name, I mean there are people that get modded that you don't know and you often just get to know them. I see how people would find it problematic if nobody knew a guy but usually people trust that if someone made it through the brainstorming phase they are generally regular players and mod material.
  21. Bare in mind that the older revisions there was no flight so most people built as close to spawn as possible there was still land out at the edges it just helped make the area around spawn a lot more inclusive.
  22. I agree we might over complicate things now. We could try and make slightly more minimalistic spawns. However I'd actually say I prefer the older revisions, everything is closer together which granted may look derpy however it has a much better feel of a community than the revisions we have now.
