  1. Why don't we enable mobs on creative? we already have a few that are on the map and people like them, we could limit them to a certain number per area that would prevent lag. Admittedly they are not really very useful but people like them and so if it makes people like the server more why not give it a try?
  2. You could put up two servers, one testing all the different plugins and another one the usual way, we were going to do that with creative it's a very good way to determine what the public actually wants. You just have to measure the numbers on each server to see which one is the most popular, and put up a thread at the end like you would if you only tested it on the one server asking which plugins we should keep. Just an idea but it could be a useful way to keep everyone happy.
  3. Also one other thing, could we enable pearls in pvp arenas? it's a big part of pvp so it should be included in the arenas.
  4. Could we get personalized kits on creative? e.g. you set up an inventory full of potions and pvp equipment that is enchanted, it'd be a lot easier to do something like /savekit pvp or /savekit [name] instead of having to remake that kit every single time you die in a pvp fight.
  5. Oh thanks for the explanation :) that makes sense haha I remember the days of running with a tone of diamonds in your inventory thinking oh shit shit shit shit whenever you saw someone.
  6. One quick probably derpy question. What is the reasoning behind disabling enderchests? I'm sorry if there has been a huge problem and I've just missed it.
  7. bumping this thread, it'd be good to hear some more feedback.
  8. It's easy EeHee ;) The one with a ball not an egg that you kick with your foot is wait for it... football, the other is basically rugby for pussies. Controversial
  9. Read that in a scouse accent! :P It'd be good to have a mumble channel for things like the premiership, I think we have had mumble channels for american football before.
  10. That's interesting, how long a period should a mod that has been inactive for a while take to be classed as active again? It's counter productive if someone logs in after a month or so of nothing says hi and then is classed as active. should there be a time period they have to stay for over the next few weeks to have their time reset? e.g. log in for so many hours in a week or so? should they go through a recap on the mod training process and by doing so be counted as active again? Don't take this as a rant or anything I am genuinely curious about our system of handling inactive moderators? Also on nerd.nu/staff it says inactive mods have been away for around 1-2 months, do we have a cut off time since a mod last logged in because that is a little bit sketchy. It would be better to say if a mod hasn't logged into the server in 1 month they are automatically classed as inactive exceptions being personal matters that have to be attended to ect. It'd be good to have this discussed sometime obviously gsand made this thread to just take names down so it should be discussed in another thread or in a meeting on mumble.
  11. In terms of modmode, I don't see a big problem with making powers purely for modmode, I don't think we have had much problem with abuse, I like modmode on creative being an option. On survival and PvE it is a necessity. In terms of tping to someone, when I was a staff member I shot them a quick pm asking if it was alright at the time, having said that I do see the benefit there. Suggestions: - A weekly blog or video on the creative server talking about changes, showing off interesting builds or just interacting with the community. Maybe some talk on what the creative staff are doing. - I'd like more creative meetings say every so many weeks there will be a meeting or two. I am not a big fan of the waiting until there is a very large number of topics that have to be discussed or until we feel there hasn't been one in a while approach. - I'd like to link this suggestion https://nerd.nu/forums/index.php?/topic/2251-addition-of-mini-games-to-creative/ - I'd like spleef to be made a bigger thing on creative, have tournaments hosted by staff members - Same goes with PvP tournaments. We have the arenas we should use them. - Use prize plots more in contests. Sketchy one: Addition of mobs, this is sketchy because it is a lot of work for no real purpose, however mobs are fun people like making farms ect. I have forgotten a lot of the problems with getting mobs on creative though so this really isn't one of my main suggestions. That's it from me, creative is looking good, the cadmin team and the rest of the staff have been doing a great job in moving creative in a positive direction. Keep up the great work!!! :)
  12. That's my point. I am unsure if we are able to do this but we could alternatively have an entire other server for mini-games. We used to serve all aspects of minecraft (creative, survival and pve) so adding in a mini games server would be a fun experiment and hopefully if players enjoyed themselves on the server then we could have server messages on it talking about the other servers and hopefully that would attract more attention to us.
  13. I agree with ROCKONN, however so far test builds for pve have looked very good, if your tests are so awful they are considered spam, honestly unless you are test building a turd made out of redstone ore and many different colours of wool I don't see how you could do it. But if you are worried about how your tests look take a little extra time to make them look nice. Yes they are tests but it doesn't mean you shouldn't have any pride in them. But yeah in general areas are claimed by players at the start of the revision so long as you use the space then you can claim away. I completely agree, I think we should have a brainstorm or even a mumble meeting to discuss possible ways to advertise creative. We have tried many in the past so some new suggestions would be good. I know this is over said and hasn't really worked in the past but we could make use of the youtube channel a lot more. We never used to give all admins access to the youtube, I am not sure if this has happened or not, however I think a weekly video for each server would be a good way forward, It's not like we have no subscribers. I am sure someone on each server will have recording software and be willing to make a blog or something for the server each week? I would imagine we could get around the low player count issue if we just put our heads together.
  14. Okay, it's clear that we don't have as many players on creative as we used to, and one of the things that brought creative a lot of players was the fact that we were a bit more interesting back when we were in our first couple of years as there wasn't as many creative servers as there was now and so it made an interesting change to the usual survival/pve servers you'd find. However now, new servers are popping up with mini-games and interesting plugins to alter the game slightly. I think it'd be a good idea to try to incorporate some mini-games into creative, say in a cut off section of the map you could access with something like /warp mini-games. I think it could attract more players to our servers and it could add another exciting feature to creative. It also opens up opportunities for contests e.g. who can build the best mini-game map? Of course there are some issues with this, one being it's a huge change to our usual way, however I don't think we can say we are a vanilla server any more, we have altered the servers quite a bit, I'm also not entirely sure on how easy it would be to create a mini-games area in the creative map. I'd really like to hear the communities feedback on this and I'd also like to hear from the creative admins and the tech admins for their thoughts on the matter. Thanks :)
  15. So this was me on a night out. Caught me off guard!!!
  16. I always saw the rule of banning a player's alt permanently was to make people think twice before alting. However the wording is odd as it seems if a player is banned and bypasses the ban using an alt account but is never caught, once he is unbanned and considered a normal player again, if it is then found out that he bypassed his ban using an alt account does his alt account then get permanently banned? does he get a new ban? and if his alt account doesn't get banned then the thing that is being punished is getting caught. I'd say permanent ban on the alt account is the wrong thing to do, instead a large extension on the current ban something extreme which would still have the effect of making the player not want to alt something like two to three weeks or even a month. TL:DR scrap permanent ban of the alt just ban it and extend the ban length dramatically.
  17. looking at finished maps just before the reset there is still plenty of space left on the maps, I don't mind if P players build on creative I think what EeHee might have been trying to say was that we don't want creative to become ptest.nerd.nu it is still a creative server which should focus on expanding as one instead of focusing on accommodating itself to be design server solely made for testing.
  18. P designs aren't bad for creative, we don't get pissy with builds unless they are deliberately bad eg sponge diamond and glowstone piles of random block placement. Really if you feel your build isn't looking nice or you think it looks out of place just try to make it look a little nicer eg add a garden around it something that doesn't have to be put into P but something to make it look nicer on creative.
  19. Skipped a lot of this but in general we used to just see if they were able to speak english. If someone is speaking another language in chat you can say do you speak english if they don't then they will just be talking to themselves or a friend, I've always gone with the idea if someone reports someone for saying something against the rules in another language to ask what they said and try to translate it as much as possible. if nobody notices them say anything in another language I've not seen the harm. Not saying there isn't any but if someone insults me in another language that I don't understand then I honestly don't care too much, if someone insults someone else in another language and they understand it then there is an issue as far as i'm concerned. It's a bit of a grey area but really i don't see a huge problem with people speaking other languages.
  20. >:( boooo somebody had to say Chelsea! :P oh well good luck in the premier league looks like it's between us and Man City.
  21. Just curious if you do watch football what is your favourite team? I have a few, Aston Villa, Liverpool and England.
  22. When you think about the number of builds in the map that aren't in the correct place or aren't done quite right, moving them all would not be easy at all. There are 3 creative admins that can do that job and a lot of builds that need it. We don't want to make the creative admins have to spend all their time moving pixel arts of mario about the place.
