  1. I would prefer better discussions on the forums, but if Barney eats a hat, I'll definitely be present at this meeting.
  2. But we're not Reddit.
  3. It's hard to even play the game when every single stupid thing you do is grounds for some form of punishment.
  4. Agreed, no one should be going into threads asking if it should be closed. Stop closing posts, go back to the old method of closing posts, when the content is so outdated that there really isn't anything more to talk about it. As well as obviously malicious post that are in no way trying to generate civil discussion. All these polls, and questions, and threads are not made to instigate any form of action, your community's players are genuinely interested and are constantly being shut down.
  5. There, he said it guys, wrap it up, time to go home. This isn't gonna happen. Shame shame.
  6. Blindly agreeing to everyone's posts isn't constructive either. If you disagree, you should provide your counterargument or provide your reason. It's absurd to think that you don't need to provide a reason as to why you agree. If everyone just upvotes everything, they won't contribute to the discussions.
  7. I'm challenging myself not to use them at all. I stated in my post that I feel that having only upvotes will still have a similar effect as having downvotes.
  8. While I do agree, personally, I don't like that having upvotes means you don't have to actually reply and provide your own opinion. It's lazy and it'll have the same effect as downvotes when that one person is upvoted to shit, and everyone else's comments are at 0. Get rid of both of them, it's absolutely pointless to get rid of one and keep the other.
  9. I honestly cannot even tell if you're being sarcastic... If that's legit, than I pity you for taking this so seriously. If it's not, than I can say that I downvoted you because your snide remarks are more detrimental to this discussion than anything Ridiculous and Gsand have said.
  10. Thank you Dumbo, your explanation is much appreciated. I still believe that it was in the wrong to close a post that was merely to see where the majority of the players opinions lie, whether or not a decision had already been made. It was not posted to initiate any direct change in policy. In regards to taking in more suggestions, how would you recommend doing so? Another thread on the forums? A Reddit post? Another absolutely pointless mumble meeting? Or actually taking a suggestion straight to the heads? How will we know what suggestions were "submitted" or rejected? Or if it's even been brought up yet? Will someone tell us? I don't mean to sound pushy, but I genuinely want a better way to have discussions other than the forums where everyone just downvotes everything they don't agree with and all everyone does is stab at each other's necks. In the meantime I will soon be posting a poll of my own, and I sincerely hope that I won't have to fear that it'll be shut down before anyone even gets the chance to talk about it.
  11. Why should there ever not be improvement? I like these servers, I like the people I've met on these servers, and even though I don't see eye to eye with a good deal of them, I still think that it would be in our best interests (and those who have yet to log on) to work together to improve the servers. The problem is, there are a large number of players that are perfectly content with the way things are will most likely continue being, and I don't approve of that. No one, should ever settle, there is always room for improvement and there and dozens of players with plenty of great ideas that could help improve the quality of the servers. The problem is, no matter how many times an idea is presented, nothing ever comes out of it, even small things that are absolutely do-able. Most of the time, the excuse is usually that the tech admins and other plugin writers don't have the time to do all the things presented and that's absolutely reasonable, it's unfair to pin so many tasks onto a small number of people. The problem with that excuse is, why don't we just get more people to help then? There are plenty of players with sufficient resources to assist our servers in it's efforts to improve but their help is usually rejected because said person isn't a member of staff or because they aren't trusted enough to deal with the inner workings of the servers. The next big issue is the situation with transparency, whether we like it or not, we keep a lot of things away from the regular players, things that don't really need to be talked about in private (and I'm not just talking about the mod chat *cough*adminchat*cough*) even mods like us are in the dark when it comes to decisions that have been made and ideas that have been shut down. That's not cool, cause if we keep coming up with the same idea and it's already not do-able, we don't know why or even how anyone came to that decision, no one tells us. As much as we would like to say that there isn't a divide between mods and regular players, there absolutely is one. Many players feel that the mods look down on the normal players, and even though we play and build and pvp alongside you, we still have to perform our duties and keep the servers free of grief and issues. That means that we talk to more people, we help more people, and in turn, we have a bit more of an influence when it comes to our opinions vs. everyone else's. That much is unavoidable, the problem arises when we pool together only the opinions of those with the most influence, or ignore the others. That is where things get blocked off: newer players come, newer players want changes, older players like the way things are, older players have been around longer, everything works the way things are, (if it ain't broke, don't fix it) nothing changes, newer players leave, rinse and repeat. The worst part of all this is that everyone who starts taking things seriously is immediately painted a nice big red target with the word "Drama Llama" and everything they say stops being taken into consideration. Everyone tries to push each other's buttons (even I'm guilty of doing this) with the intent to heat up an argument and paint whoever gets angrier in a negative light, then every begins to disagree with the guy talking about how much of an idiot you are for having your opinion and the other person wins the argument. Rather than talk things out in a civilised manner we start wars on the forums and dig into people's histories and call them out on that one stupid thing they said or did. In my opinion the worst of these people are the ones who for some godforsaken reason are entirely oblivious of the problems, where all they do it just back up the one person who is saying everything without fully reading and thinking about what everyone is saying and providing proper input. That's why simple posts end up getting filled with tons of comments where everyone is disagreeing with each other and making snide remarks. Just talk, and listen; read, and think. Stop making your own concrete opinions and sitting idly by waiting for everyone to go at each others throats before you begin to say or do something. Take into consideration what everyone thinks, even if they aren't a member of staff, or if they don't play on your server, and if they behave like a fool every now and again, whether they've been banned multiple times, if they moderate their own servers, and especially, if they have an opinion different from yours.
  12. It was a good year, and I'm glad to have spent it here. Thanks Nerd.

  13. Since October of last year, I was depped into the Navy waiting for the day that I ship out. Well, that time has finally arrived and tomorrow I will be leaving my home and heading off to Basic Training. For those that don't know me, I've been playing since Creative Revision 15, where I would build quietly and explore. That time was short lived and I only stuck around for Rev 16 and I left. Then, sometime in 2012, I decided to log back in during Rev 24 where I got back to building. During that time I would slowly make a few friends here and there. Those friends would go on to help me build my warp build Mira in the middle of the ocean with the help of several other players. Then, when Nerd held it's staff meeting, I decided to buy a microphone so I could sit on mumble and listen in. That poor mic would end up being used almost daily for the next year. (it died on me today, :( RIP, Logitech H390) Since then I have met some of my best friends and enjoyed the slow days just playing and chatting with them. As for Minecraft, I played a significant amount and did what I could to contribute whether it be with building, starting topics on the forums, hosting meetings, submitting ideas, etc. I was even nominated a few times for the moderator position. And it's a bit sad that now that I've finally gotten to that point, I will not be around as much as I used to. In closing, I expect to be gone from all online connectivity for the next two to three months (most likely two). After that I will most likely return, but not for the same spans of time I do now. It's been nice getting to meet a lot of you, but I'm heading off to start my life. Thanks for making the wait a lot less boring, Magnyus.
  14. Someone must be new to photoshop. Also why'd you post the picture that hides your face after you've doxxed yourself?
  15. I can bet that half the time, you're never looking at the TV, unless it's a YouTube vid or something.
  16. Not my ideal set up, but it's been with me the past year and a half. It's also the family computer so it's nothing fancy. Speakers and a master kill switch in case anything goes wrong. Also a mini computer which holds pens and pencils. What I see. Home.
  17. By all means do. You can just type it in this thread and I'll make sure someone revisits it.
  18. It's quite clear that there is some tension regarding the way things are and I believe that the time has come for us to sit down in a mumble channel, and figure out where things are and most definitely where we want them to go. In a civilised manner, of course. So, I would like to formally request that the Head Admins and Server Admins begin to plan for another meeting (especially since it's been a year since the last one). I would also like to ask that the other players and moderators give their support and gather as much information as they can (comments, concerns, questions) to make the admin's jobs a little easier during this process. Any input can be provided below.
  19. I'm convinced that our domain being .nu is part of an old joke that was acted upon when the servers were created, but by no means are we based in Niue. This is a problem I encountered quite a while ago and I spoke with Cadmin at the time, Barlimore who told me that there isn't really a way to force or moderate people who speak in their native tongues in global. and there have been many times where I have been aware of people exclaiming profanities at other players. At times it can be annoying but there should be at least some form of controlling where people can speak. What I had proposed during that time was to make clanchat easier to use, especially for newer (and in this case non-english speaking) players. I liked the idea of making it a toggle so it wouldn't be annoying to type /c for every message. Another good way of making it clear to players that they can speak their native tongues in clanchat would be to use the alert system to send a nice, visible, purple message that provide instructions on how to join that chat for said language. For Example: Digitar "/clanchat join Español" para hablar en español con tus amigos! As well as any variation of that for any language. That way when players start talking in their language a moderator or admin can simply make the alert appear in global, and if they're decent people, they'll go. Again, that is not a solution to the 'problem' because regardless of warnings (even for players that speak English) some simply refuse to go to clanchat, and that's when the mutes start getting handed out. It would still be nice for the servers to be a little more forgiving for those international player that don't speak what the majority does.
  20. What is you most favourite limb to sever?
